  1. Hi Shahpor. This is actually perfect timing, I remembered i have quick start in the shed, So asked neighbour for as jumpstart and with a puff of quick start in the air intake the car fired up and died. So it is definitely fuel related, I don't hear fuel pump running and i think your test above will be ideal test to confirm. I will run it tomorrow on Techstream and see what happens. @McShmoopy and @Spark plug i totally agree, This is the worst Engineering of Lexus and it hurts so much as i love the compact shape of IS. Just so beautiful and sleek, The LS is perfect for Long Trips and such but i would really love to use the IS as daily as i get a good buzz from throwing it around because it handles like a train on rails and STOPS like a train (Never understood that part, since trains are the worst at stopping)
  2. Hi Guys, Little dilemna going on here, need second opinion. Car details: Lexus iS220d 2007 Mileage: just under 180ish k km) 2 owners from new (got car with 120k km from previous owner) Modifications: Remapped to 510nm torque and 210bhp, upgraded GS350 6pot brake calipers and bigger discs, lowering springs, V-LAND tail lights, sport flat base steering wheel, twin exit stainless exhaust system from Honda S2000, original GS300 alloy wheels , boot spoiler, K&N filter, blocked 5th injector. Probably forgetting something. Long story short i have looked after the car and spend over 2-3k on upgrades. The car has exceptional Power/Weight ratio and most importantly fuel efficiency about 5-6 ltrs/100km. Last year i was unfortunate to put in bad diesel from a local garage and instantly noticed puff of black smoke, However being naive thought it was my eyes or paranoia. Anyway ended up changing 4 injectors (no-one told me they were priced as GOLD) , air filter, cleaned EGR valve. Finally came to conclusion it was bad fuel (probably damaged the replacement injectors too). Car has been sitting last 4months at least due to bad weather and now weather has improved but it won't start just cranks. Is this worth fighting the war to fix it, I keep thinking i am almost close to fixing the issue, I am currently using LS600h as daily but i would prefer to have the Sporty IS220d manual as daily and the LS for long trips. Problem is i have no garage space to actually take it apart to inspect any internal components and having played around with it, its probably going to be hard to get a mechanic willing to take a look at it as the road-worth test is expired since Dec 22. Attaching photos of what i was getting on Techstream when it was still starting, I have a few post here where i shared video/photos but can't figure out how to re-share. I have connected Techstream but no codes. Possible cause from my understanding: - not starting (probably weak battery even though i charged it nearly 2 days but never goes past 13.5v, i am thinking cranking Amperage is weak or fuel pump) - black smoke (bad fuel, bad injector/s leaking fuel causing over-fueling) Any pointers/advice much appreciated. 3. Hi Hoppy, Mine has taken the turn for the worst, now it doesn't start at all. The small pool of oil is not an issue, I have always had that even in my previous cars, its likely injectors (5th injector which I changed and the car stopped starting, keeps cranking). Maybe my fuel or glow plugs, desperately looking for someone who is competent enough to fix it too. Best of luck, Hopefully it's just the 5th injector. That's where I should have started anyway.
  4. As far as I am aware the Lexus ECU are locked, the guy I used had to reverse engineer to unlock it. You just purchase a spare ECU (or send yours) and send it to him along with compensation codes for your injectors and once reprogrammed its plug and play. I am miles away from him, you are probably closer to him 😂.
  5. Cool, nice to meet you Maciej. If you plan on getting 1st stage remap pm me and I will share the details for the other Maciej. I got mine remapped I think 280 euros.
  6. Who is Maciej? If this is the same person I am thinking of, then he did awesome work on my ECU tuning until my car had an issue with wrong fuel none related. That's the only reason I can't sell or scrap the car because it's a Beast of a car and only uses 5 litres of diesel per 100km.
  7. Hi All, Well just another is220d issue, after replacing injectors, cleaning EGR valve etc troubleshooting a smoking issue. After replacing the 5th injector the car is no longer starting. It actually stopped starting when the old 5th injector was still in the car. It cranks and nothing more, I may have primed the system about 3 times now and I read somewhere that you shouldn't prime the system unless you run out of fuel. There was fuel and just topped 5lt as well for good measure incase gauge is not reflecting correctly. Could this be the cause or how can I check airlock if anyone knows. Cheers. 8. I agree, the chap was not happy as he mentioned he initially under quoted without realising how much work was involved. So even though I ended up paying more than what was quoted with only 4 out of 10 replaced, I am just relieved for now.
  9. Where is this module located, probably worth knowing incase someone runs into same issue if its not well insulated.
  10. Doesn't this sound familiar? Turned out it was the push start button itself, Maybe worth a try if you can source one. *** For the suggestions about pressing brake pedal (only for Auto transmission i believe), is this not manual so it should be Clutch pedal instead (Irrelevant i suppose since there is no lights at all).
  11. Probably stupid suggestion but did you confirm the fob battery itself is good, can you lock/unlock using the fob? I know holding the key fob with dead battery to ignition switch will work but in your video doesn't seem in close proximity to start button.
  12. The injector values for you seems fine since 0.94 is within the range -3 to +3. I have been working on my car which is smoking since re-fuelling and finally managed to remove the 5th injector (all other 4 were replaced) , it is actually straight forward using socket 13mm but remove the battery and 1 bracket in the way I think it's a 12mm holding 2 cables. I have a few videos of location, I tried blocking the fuel line by stuffing rubber glove didn't help(wanted to see if smoke will stop momentarily) . So I will try to get m10x1 fine bolt between 10-12mm length and block fuel line to 5th injector from the fuel pump. Video is 190mb can't share here. Photo : Green: reference to location of EGR valve pipe where it bolts to the back/under cylinder 4 Blue : the injector nozzle Purple : the injector connecting plug Pink : 13mm bolt with clamp holder just like the clamps holding injectors at the top You can see fuel line and 5th injector in other photos, RESPECT the clip which holds the two in place. I was really scared breaking it.
  13. Well I got my 4 lower ones replaced, the garage said the other 6 were still OK. Took them 10hrs to remove and press them in. I somehow feel like there is now rattling since, maybe these bushings are too robust they don't absorb as much as OEM. Still costed me just under 500 euros at least it will get me going while I save up for full OEM control arms replacement in the future.
  14. is220d the hot sexy promiscuous girl next door with some serious health issues. The temptation outweighs the ideal values, it's not worth the 2 min (14 min in dog years) 😂.
  15. Excellent write up from all contributors. Well done and on the other hand so sorry for your loss trying to fix this issue. Having smoking issue but car doesn't go into limp mode, suspect injector/s and will try the leak test as clearly described 😍 Thank you All.
  16. Unconventional method prevail in the end (m10 rod) .... That was one tough son of a gun and on same cylinder I got error from injector value test on Techstream 😏. I hope that's the cause of my issue, next step get injectors tested and new seals.
  17. OK got m8 thread bar and it was a hassle removing them until I broke it into 2 parts since it was too long. The angle from the break causes a cross thread on the seals and 3 of them pulled out with minimal hassle. There is one ***** soaking in WD40 Unconventional methods alright 🙂👀
  18. Thank you Texas, I will try this today and update.
  19. Hi All, After getting excited removing all 4 injectors due to an excessive smoking issue, I am faced with a headache. The seals won't budge, I am using a wire coat hanger as described in another thread but can't get the seals to budge. Photos attached, any help much appreciated. Video of the smoking also attached, you can see where it turns from black/greyish to about bluish. petal_20220411_175214.mp4
  20. How do you tell injector quantities irregularities, are they all meant to be similar value and you look for one which is out of the ordinary compared to the rest. Managed to remove my injectors but struggling to get the injector seals off.
  21. I doubt it is headgasket, my last is220d had that weak headgasket leak on cylinder 2 and this is totally different. Hope I will pick up saved code related to injectors when I run Tis. petal_20220411_175214.mp4
  22. Photos of my injectors, next step try to find out if any of them is broken or if it's something else.
  23. Well little update, The garage was expecting to have the car for the day @ 50 euros per hr labour (circa 400 euros my budget) and just over an hour into the job i got a call to say the parts are wrong (my fault didn't know they did LS600H in RWD only, decided to have them fit the rear discs and pads billed 200 euros including attempted labour at front bushings). Anyway found the right parts over in UK so it's a matter of waiting for them to get shipped hopefully by next weekend. So i will update you again once i have the job done or maybe you will have yours done first.
  24. The most time would be spent on pressing the bushings, I have done whole front suspension of BMW e34 using unconventional methods in a day. So for a garage I would think a day's work is enough without any hiccups. (fingers crossed)
  25. Hi PJ, the bushes are not done yet. Will update you on Thursday which is when I am booked in for the job. Cheers.
