  1. Thanks ! I realized I'm in Eco mode, perhaps that is restricting condensation. I'll turn it off as well.
  2. I have wet carpet on passenger side and think it was a blocked moonroof drain that I think I have fixed. Carpet and padding are still very wet like there is an unlimited amount of water in there, makes me wonder if I haven't fixed it. I want to make sure it wasn't caused by blocked condensation pipe from AC. I ran the AC for 15 minutes today and didn't notice any condensation puddle under the car. It is 15C with low humidity here. I ran the climate system at 27C in auto with the AC on. Will that cause condensation in the system or do I need to run it at a lower temp ? What's best way to get max puddle ?
  3. Thanks for the suggestion. As a workaround to pulling up carpet, I put a heavy dumbell on the carpet with a tea towel in between. In the morning the towel was soaked. Will try a few more times. Better than nothing.
  4. My carpet footwell on passenger side, front and rear have been wet for a few weeks. Evidently, my sunroof drain was blocked. I've dried the carpet with towels and AC but the underneath padding is soaked like a sponge. Ideally, I'd pull out the carpet/padding and dry it in the sun but it seems to be one piece and would require removing seats etc. So I'm trying to find areas front and rear to get under the padding and put some towels to soak it up. I've removed door sill trim and there are cables with a white bracket that hold the carpet and cable in place. Do I need to a pry tool ? Also some spots seem to be glued down. Are there any other easy locations to pull up the carpet ? In the rear, how do I pull up the seat cushion bottom part ? It seems that I could easily pull that carpet up and forward ? If this doesn't work I was going to try and stick a pipe connected to a fan into the hole by the rear seat anchor (I can see and feel the damp padding there). Open to other suggestions. Thanks !
  5. Awesome, thanks a lot guys. This forum is great, you always come up with ideas I'd never think of. I had no idea I could buy that on Ebay. I looked at the listings but all seem to be LHD and I'm in a RHD country...probably will be harder to find. I think I'll see what a trim specialist thinks seeing that the trim is in very good nick otherwise and I'm not sure if a used part of ebay would be. Will update
  6. Anyone else experienced this or have any ideas on how to fix ? I've attached a few photos. The leather/rubber by the armrest on the drivers side door is separating. I have a service appt with Lexus in a few days and will mention it (out of warranty) but was wondering if I could fix myself (if anyone else has experienced this or other stitching separating) maybe with super glue or leather glue. Basically I don't mind if it looks a bit unsightly but I don't want it getting worse. Also considering going to an auto leather panel repair place. Thanks.
  7. Thanks Barry, I am feeling better about it, I always prefer to go with what the manufacturer suggests as long as reasonable. However waiting a month for the part to come in and $200-300 more expensive was a bit much (my first Lexus quote). Fortunately I got a better second quote and I guess I'll just have to hope the battery holds out for a month. I turned off smart access and auto lights so as to not deplete the battery before it gets to READY.
  8. It seems like a pretty low risk esp since I rarely have passengers in the rear seats or the seats down. However I haven't been able to find either flooded or AGM battery in stock anywhere. Ended up ordering from Lexus and they think it'll be a few weeks. I guess supply chains are just seized up from coronavirus.
  9. I wonder if a flood type battery is ok if the seats aren't folded down. Or if, even with them up, they aren't sealed as well as the GS is and thus the AGM has to be used over the flood battery ?
  10. Called Lexus, they quoted $ 650 AUD (345 GBP) for putting in new battery and don't have it in stock 🤯 Think I'll try elsewhere or maybe try a slow charger to see if battery can be resurrected.
  11. Thanks for the detailed information John. The 12v in the IS300h is also in the boot, does this mean that I could put in a flooded battery too ? I like the idea of using a higher Ah flooded battery and hopefully it lasting longer. I wonder why Lexus put an AGM battery into the IS300h and a flooded in the GS450h
  12. This post seems to have lots of good info. I'm thinking of getting a trickle charger onto the battery to see if slowly charging it up can recondition or improve its ability to hold a charge. Or have a supplemental battery in the boot to jump it or recharge the battery if it won't start when I'm out. https://www.toyotanation.com/threads/hybrid-12v-battery-jumping.1549682/
  13. I'm having a hell of a time trying to find a replacement for my IS300h 12v battery. Searched on here and it seems like everyone has had this problem and no solution ? Is my only option going to the dealer ? I would have thought at least that a Prius or Camry battery would be a good alternative and that a Toyota dealership could handle it. When I search here (located in Australia) even the battery websites seem confused. For example my understanding is that I need a deep cycle AGM battery but this website brings up these two batteries when I enter my car type and neither seem to be AGM (they are EFM) ?!?! I'll call the dealer and get a quote but am just assuming it will be super overpriced. https://www.everybattery.com.au/proddetail.php?prod=N-S100%2FAS https://www.everybattery.com.au/proddetail.php?prod=SS95D26REFBD Someone in another post suggested an electric scooter battery but even if I could locate the right one and check the dimensions would fit, I don't feel comforable installing myself so what am I going to do, just show up at Lexus with it ? Haha
  14. Interesting ! I've gone back and forth on the cause of this but it seems very likely now that my battery is going bad and I mistook correlation for causation. Today I had trouble starting the car without the USB stick in it and the car finally started on the third try (same number as when I pulled the USB stick out and tried again). I think I read another post saying that the first attempted start gets pressure up in the brake fluid and less battery power is required on subsuquent starts so maybe that's why it works on the third try ?? Once I get the battery replaced I will be plugging in the bad USB stick and seeing if it causes any issues still
  15. I got the voltmeter. Became pretty obvious very quickly that my battery is on its way out. WIthout turning anything on, I measured and got 12.2. Turning on twice without foot on brake had it quickly going down to 10, 9...by the time i went back to the dash, hybrid warning was on. I didn't even get to turning on radio or lights although I forgot to turn off auto wipers and it swept once. I also have partial easy entry so seat and wheel moved. With everything off, battery bounced back to 10 fairly quickly and back up to 11 within 15 min so hopefully I'll be ok to drive for next few days. Glad I posted this issue on here, voltmeter seems like cheap insurance. I'd guess that the usb incompatible file does cause some kind of surge in voltage needed in the USB but with how low powered USB, seems hard to believe that could effect the battery that much. Once my battery is well charged again I'm going to see if the issue happens again with incompatible file removed. What's a reasonable price for the dealer to replace battery ? I'd prefer they do it but not if it's ridiculously overpriced. If I get it replaced at somewhere other than Lexus, I assume it won't invalidate the hybrid battery warranty (only warranty I have left on a 2013) ?
  16. Thanks, makes sense. I guess that means less wear and tear on the 12V battery 👍
  17. Thanks so much for explaining that. I'll post with the results once I get the voltmeter. I watched a video where they recommended also starting the car at the end of the test to see how much the battery voltage drops but perhaps it's not necessary with a hybrid ?
  18. Interesting, I'll keep that in mind. Dashboard lights haven't been flickering yet
  19. It's a 2013 so getting up there but I got it a year ago and am not sure if the battery was replaced. I also thought of the 12V battery. I've never used a voltmeter...I'll look it up and see the price and what's involved in using it. Might be good insurance against a flat battery Is this a good choice of voltmeter ? https://www.amazon.com.au/AstroAI-Digital-Multimeter-Voltage-Tester/dp/B01ISAMUA6/ref=sr_1_1?crid=TNQVDXCFJ2UT&keywords=voltmeter&qid=1589156228&sprefix=voltmeter%2Caps%2C296&sr=8-1
  20. I agree, I though it was the 12V battery also. Perhaps it was just a coincedence...the car had been sitting for 4 days which is usual...I normally drive every day or other day. Now I'm thinking perhaps I should just replace the 12V soon. Agreed on the thinking that there would be separation between USB and the hybrid system ! Definitely good no connection to the internet haha
  21. Yeah, it's a IS300h. I have had one other electrical issue where the windshield wipers got stuck in mid sweep while in auto mode when it was pouring (they were going on fastest setting). A restart of car didn't fix it but forcing it to manually sweep reset it and it hasn't happened again for 3-4 months. Based on a search on here, I assumed a relay was going bad. The hybrid battery was at 6 bars out of 8. I'll try the USB stick again (without the incompatible file) today on my drive and report back. I don't have wireless charger attached and I don't have a smart watch. My phone had bluetooth off and wasn't plugged into car. Only other thing plugged into USB was an iPhone charger that has been plugged in for 9 months. I usually have the same things in the car each day so can't think of anything else that would have caused it. I'm thinking the car operating system tried to load the incompatible file and it caused a bug, only weird part is why that spread to the hybrid part
  22. This is an odd one. I wouldn't believe it myself if it hadn't happened to me. I was testing the music files I could play on a USB stick in the car. One of the files was incompatible (not mp3). In accessory mode after 5 min of playing music the warning light comes on and display reads "hybrid system has stopped. Please put shift lever into P" and Operation of electrical items restricted. But the car was already in park...it wasn't even on (Ready). Turned it off, put it back into accessory mode, did it again after a few minutes. Took out USB stick, forgot about it for a few weeks. Then I wanted to listen to music again and put the USB back in and turned the car on (Ready). Car started to move the seat and steering wheel closer and then immediately stopped and gave the same warning about hybrid system. I though maybe the battery had gone flat since seat wouldn't move. Tried a couple of times, same thing. Then I took out the USB stick and it started no problem. I can't believe something like this could effect the electronics to such an extent ? But I can reproduce the error. I shudder to think what might happen if I put other incompatible things on the USB stick haha. This USB stick has been in the car for months with no issue, I just added some extra files to see if I could play other file formats.
  23. Thanks, I tried that and got no low battery warning !
