  1. update Had the timing belt , tensioner , pulleys and water pump job done. Got the gates kit from Ebay for 168 pounds tensioner SkF came from France for 38 pounds. 11 litres of coolant Labour 180 quid
  2. I did clean the area before using loads of brake cleaner only to find out that the leak has returned, Its coming from the pipes that are clamped on rad and going to the aircon dryer. I would say it's aircon lubricant oil
  3. I went again and had a look, all i can see is some pipes connected to aircon compressor. But surely if they leak my aircon shoud be dead by now.and its working fine??? Had a look at the U shaped PAS steering lines In front of rad and they are not leaking
  4. Thanks. Thats more likely. I was worried it might be the transmission lines. Is the power steering fluid cooled at the rad?
  5. Hi. I have this oily stain front of the radiator....dunno what is the problem, there seems to be some metal pipes there attached to radiator...they could be the ones leaking? Anyone got an idea? Please see picture. Thanks
  6. Yeah. Starter repair kit 18GBP Intake manifold gasket 40GBP Coolant bridge gasket 25 pounds And some coolant to top up
  7. 5w30 , Lexus do a very good deal on service kits. Got 6l of oil plus air and pollen and oil filter for 65 quid
  8. Sorry for hijacking your thread. My plate shows 941 as color code however the trim code is LH15 and I can not find that touch up paint anywhere..even Lexus dont do it anymore. I could get 941 from Amazon but thats about that
  9. Quoted 530 pounds to replace the starter. Now the money I saved can go towards a new timing belt.
  10. Yes, contact and plunger surfaces were very worn Took me 4 hours to remove the starter....waited for parts couple of days and then took 3 hours to put everything back.... I am not very organized , waste a lots of time looking for tools
  11. Thanks for your great advice. Ordered 2 bushes all in for 54GBP... Eith import taxes on top still better than Lexus 76GBP per bush.
  12. Hi Malc Do you know the exact part number for these bushes? I have got a part number but apparently its old 48674-50052. Have you used amayama before? How quick is their shipping?
  13. Hi guys. My strut rod bushes need replacing, I was tempted to go down the polyurethane bushes route due to durability and super easy fitting, however I have read that they ruin Lexus Ls ride and make it very firm which i don't want. I can only find one or two suppliers that have them on Ebay but they are unknown aftermarket parts , Does anybody know where can I get good quality aftermarket ones? Anything like Lemforder ? I am sure genuine lexus ones will be very expensive.
  14. Cambelt probably easier as it is big parts that need unbolting , this is like a brain surgery with various clips and hoses and brackets all over the place All I can say is this is a proper faff....the manifold is so heavy that i had to get someone to help lift it....and that fuel pipe doesn't help either
  15. Here we are. intake manifold is off...so many hoses, clips, connectors and bolts and obviously scraped knuckles. Most of the connectors didn't budge, a spray of ptfe lubricant on the locking tab helped a lots. I got the started off but waiting for the contacts and pluger kit....i only managed to brake one plastic vent/drain at the bottom of the starter, not sure if they are replacable?
  16. Would it be enough to drain couple of litres coolant from the bottom of radiator where the little drain hose is?
  17. Excuse my ignorance but who is Steve? Whats his forum nickname
  18. Do uk cars have EGR pipe above the starter ? Or its just the water bridge to remove? Do you have to unbolt the starter to fit new.contacts kit or can be done in situe?
  19. I ordered the following. Starter repair kit Intake manifold gasket x2 Water bridge gaskets x2 Not sure if new injector O rings are needed.? Do I have to completely drain coolant?
  20. Thanks...I will be doing the job as soon as i get all the parts required. Do you advice to go with whole new starter motor or just copper contacts and plunger kit? What are the parts needed in terms of gaskets etc as manifold ,TB and other bits have to be removed and i would like to have all parts ready beforehand?
  21. Morning. I thought my battery was duff so got a new one from dealers, however it doesn't start apart from once , just a single click coming from the back of the intake manifold which suggest worn starter motor contacts. Has anybody got any comprehensive detailed DIY guide ? I m sure it is a big job but i will have no choice but to do it myself. Thanks
  22. My battery (Yuasa) just packed up so went to Lexus Birmingham to get a replacement, 106 quid , it was only 25 pounds dearer than the Yuasa...not too bad. I asked them to give me a quote on Cambelt,w/pump ,all the pulleys and a new tensioner , the lady there didn't know as it wasn't part of their fixed price service so promised to check with service dept and ring back which she Didnt.
  23. I dont think that the fixed price offer is a good value, they charge you mega money in labour charges even though they have access to everything when they remove the Cambelt. I would rather find an independent Toyota or Lexus specialist , although fairly certain it will cost at least 600 quid
