  1. Just an update. I took it to a car air-conditioner specialist and after he ran diagnostic tests, he could not find any faults with the compressor or detect any leaks. I therefore got it re-gassed and serviced for £100 and it's ice cold now. Whether the compressor will pack in at a later date only time will tell but hopefully I will have my car sold by then. Thanks all
  2. To be honest,I've never noticed anything noisy than the usual sound of the air con. The Aircon is still not working so I have called a few car air con specialists for advice and got quotes of around £1200 for a replacement compressor. I did mention that it needs the ND11 oil but I was told that a quality "snow leopard" branded oil for hybrids is what they use normally. Is that right?
  3. I took my car in for the re-gas this morning and was advised the following for attention in the near future: Air conditioning compressor noisy - during testing was discovered that the compressor is now beginning to fail, to prevent this. A new unit will be required. £4,010.98 The cost for replacement was a shock. That's nearly half the value of the car 🙄 Has anyone had this replaced or taken it to an independent garage to reduce costs?
  4. Yeah I made the mistake of not switching it on frequently during the winter. Is it worth taking it to an independent garage for an assessment and if a re-gas is required, take to the Dealer?
  5. I have noticed the other day that the Air Con is blowing just air and it is not cold. The heating is fine. I called the local Lexus dealer to book the car in next week but they confirmed that there will charge £160 Investigation cost as well as charges for repair afterwards. Is there anything I need to ask them to particularly check? I also noticed the "Front" button doesn't show the windscreen icon on the display for air blowing from up but instead shows the forward icon. The air still blows without the missing icon. So not sure if it's all related. 2012 RX450H Thanks
  6. Hi I am looking for an auto lock setting on my 2012 RX450H where if I forget to lock the doors after leaving the car when parked, it will automatically lock all doors. I had a look at all the lock settings through the steering wheel button but nothing seems obvious. There is also no Vehicle Customisation option on the main console. Not sure if this feature is available for this model? Thanks
  7. Hi I'm looking for a mobile phone holder for my 2012 RX450 to replace my existing phone which has faulty spring mechanism. The one I have slots into the CD slot which is secure but it fiver the Hazard warning button. I have tried a vent holder in the past but it's not secure. I don't like the suction ones as they are too far and does fall off occasionally. Any recommendations?
  8. Yes makes sense. I'm looking at the NX for my next car but not sure if I will regret buying it as I love my RX but the price will be an issue.
  9. I guess the Service Plan price jump reflects the age and mileage of the car. The major issues picked up through the Lexus Service over the last 2 years has luckily been covered by my Extended Warranty which easily would have cost at least £2k for repairs and part replacement. I hoping to sell this car and buying another Lexus before the existing warranty expires in 12 months.
  10. Sorry I think I got confused as he mentioned Relax when talking about this new plan. If it is still the same Essential Care Service, I do not understand why the price has jumped from £499 to £881 so I thought this was related to an extra 12 months warranty.
  11. Hi I took out a 2 year Service Plan in 2019 and just had the final Service and MOT done. The dealer then gave me a quotation to renew the plan and I was surprised by the price increase from £499 to £881. He also mentioned its a different to the the existing plan hence the increase in price. I've had a quick look around this forum and it appears Lexus have replaced the existing Service Plan with something called Lexus Relax. Someone mentioned that it also includes 12 months extended warranty? I bought an extra 2 years Extended Warranty on top of the 12 months standard warranty when I bought the car in 2019 and this will end in 2022. So does this new Lexus Relax Service Plan extend my existing warranty by another 12 months to 2023 if I take out the plan? The RX450H is 9 years old and has done 105K miles so not sure if the new plan covers cars over 100k. Funnily, my quotation shows my current mileage incorrectly as 97300 so not sure if this is the dealer's way to beat the system so it is valid for the new Relax plan? He said he will call me back in a couple of days to see if I am interested so would like some feedback on this please. Thanks
  12. Has anyone had any RX450H Brake Discs replaced by a local garage and if so, did you buy it elsewhere and have it fitted? On my MOT last year, the Lexus Dealer stated on my certificate : "Brake disc worn, pitted or scored, but not seriously weakened Front & Rear" So looking to get both front and rear replaced before this year's MOT but the Dealers will no doubt charge at least £275 for each. My only concerns on replacing it elsewhere would be how it would effect the Hybrid's 'Regenerative Braking' or the Extended Warranty I have. Thanks
  13. Just to update, Lexus Woodford looked at the car last week and found a leak. They have now replaced the hose which was covered by the warranty. Thanks all
  14. Thanks Herbie. When I called the service dept of my local dealer, they said it will probably need a regas and one should be done every 2 years. They charge £100 for a regas and £125 for a "Air con service". I have had the car for 18 months but there is no record in the sales paperwork to say an air con regas was carried out at the time of purchase. Shall I go for a regas at Lexus and if it's still an issue, then go through warranty to fix any leaks or faults?
  15. Hi I have noticed today that the air conditioning is cool rather than cold on my RX450H. I originally thought it was because it was on Eco Mode but even when off it is only slightly cooler. Would I need to take it to a Dealership to have it gassed or would any local garage be enough to have these done? I do have the Lexus Extended Warranty so not sure if its worth using that to check for Air Con faults? Thanks
  16. I have the Membership card also but Lexus Woodford refused to accept it saying they barely make any money on the Catlocs. I paid £391 with no discount
  17. Sorry I thought I replied earlier. Yes after I picked up the car and started driving I did notice a 'scraping' sound as soon as I accelerated. I immediately went back to the dealer and made them look at it again. The mechanic told me its very common as there a barely any space between the Cat and the Catloc and they have already mentioned this to the manufacturer to have it redesigned. I asked him to try and make any adjustments and he then took the car away to cut out a small 'triangle' hole on the Catloc presumably where vibrating Cat knocks on. This has made a huge difference and I now barely notice any sound when driving.
  18. I had the Catloc fitted today on my RX450H by my Lexus dealer. Total cost £391 is a bit steep but gives me some peace of mind YouCut_20210217_184151305.mp4
  19. I'm looking to get a Catloc fitted for my RX450 as there has been an increase in the Cat thefts in my area again with the CT200 and RX400H being targeted mainly. I have not heard many RX450H owners that have had theirs stolen but just want to be on the safe side so don't have to go through the hassles. My Lexus Dealer is quoting £391 fitted. Have any RX450H owners had it done? Thanks
  20. Back home now after picking up the car. They said they will contact me once the parts have arrived as it will need to be imported in due to lack of stock in the UK. Thank you all for the support
  21. Update Woodford called back and confirmed the suspension is covered by the warranty (phew!) but the parts are not available until later this month. So I will need to go back in on another day for that. Once they do repair /replace the parts, do I need to redo the passed Mot again so that the suspension faults are cleared from the notes? Also the other issue that came up Red was wheel alignment which they quoted £144. Shall I get this done at a independent garage or will this invalidate the warranty? Thanks
  22. They are still waiting for the Warranty team to come back to them and will update me by 3pm today. If it is covered by warranty, they will need to order the parts which won't come in until Friday so I will probably need to pick up the car as they have completed the Mot and service. They also gave me a courtesy car today so most likely I will need to return that today if I can't keep it for the next 2 days.
  23. Thanks. I'm still awaiting their call. I've got the Essential Service Plan which I have been paying monthly so that will cover today's Mot and Major Service. I only went to Woodford as its local to me where as Sidcup is 20 miles away.
  24. Hi I just had a call from Lexus Woodford and they have said that the 5 Red suspension issues will need addressing. I explained that the car is barely a year old and bought from the Sidcup dealership and they say they will try and put it through warranty and will call me back to confirm. They also said the Mot has passed but will have ' notes' about the suspension issues. If I can't claim through the warranty should I just take the car back without carrying out the repairs and contact Sidcup since I bought it from them? Woodford mentioned they are just a 'Franchise' so I don't know what limitations they have compared to the Sidcup dealer. This has ruined my day.
  25. Sorry I'm fairly new to this. When I purchased the car last year it came with the standard 12 month warranty but they had an offer of £995 for 2 years extra. So in total I should have 3 years. My question is, if they suspensions appear to be worn out that badly should it not be covered as the car is still within 12 months?
