  1. I had the same issue on my 2020 ES (before it was stolen 🤣). Dealer told me it was working fine, I even tried sitting in a brand new one on the lot and it was similar so assumed it was just how it was. My 2014 CT used to get so much warmer.
  2. The hybrid battery should be just fine, it's the 12V battery that may run down from sitting around but that can easily be replaced if and when you have problems with it. The MOT history looks fine, it hasn't done too many miles in the last few years. I can't comment on the price, but no doubt you've done your research to know whether it is worth it or not. Generally, very reliable cars and not much goes wrong with them to be honest.
  3. Something doesn't seem to be adding up if I'm honest, unless the 'Sport' trim changed drastically between 2015 and 2017, theLexus Mag link also says the Sports trim has heated seats and parking sensors, from what I can tell this car does not have either of those. It looks quite low spec.
  4. This was exactly my experience too the first time it got stolen, the repairs took just over 3 months, I got given a courtesy Toyota Aygo for about half of that time, as I didn't have the like for like option on my insurance when I purchased the policy. It also took untold amount of me chasing the insurance and chasing the dealership to get it done.
  5. My original thread got merged with another and things became a bit difficult to follow. Just an update to say my car was found after it's second theft and deemed a category A write off. I was sent the engineer's report and was shocked to see that the only thing left of the 'car' was the bare metal shell, everything else had been stripped; no engine, no doors, no seats, no wheels, nothing! Definitely done by a professional group, there was only a window of just over 24 hours between the time it disappeared and being found by police. To surmise, over my 10 month ES ownership, car stolen in April, recovered and repaired with considerable expense, stolen again in November, recovered but found to be stripped bare, written off and paid out. No aftermarket immobiliser installed but I did have a Disklok on the second time around which had been cut through. As most of you are a already aware, Lexus just shrugged their shoulders and said there is nothing they can do, they have a metal plate for the RX but nothing has been developed for the ES. I now have two expensive theft claims on my insurance that I'll have to pay through the nose for over the next five years and PTSD whenever I see a Lexus (or god forbid, an ES!) on the road, don't know how long that will last for 😞 I really loved the car, such a shame it had to end this way. Needless to say, I've decided to move away from Lexus, I may come back to the brand in the (distant!) future, who knows 😞 Goodbye all and thanks for all the advice and warm replies on my original thread.
  6. I've just noticed this too and am very confused!
  7. Believe it or not, I had an AirTag in the boot, it didn't help much, I went to the location it said it was in and scoured the area, the police were also there and helped for a good hour or so (surprising, I know!) but the car was nowhere to be seen.
  8. I am very disappointed to report that my car has been stolen, once again, this time neither myself or the police were able to locate it. The car had a full steering wheel lock on at the time. Waiting to hear how much the insurance will pay out and getting ready to fork a massive bill for the next 5 years of insurance, given my, soon to be, two very expensive claims. One very unhappy camper here, will certainly not be buying another Lexus model, even though I really like their cars. Such a shame that Lexus/Toyota have abandoned their customers like this.
  9. Ronnie, try the above, mine started working after that.
  10. I've got the small size and it fits perfectly. There are actually 3 levels you can lock the thing at and I usually use the middle one so technically it can fit an even bigger steering wheel.
  11. Response from Lexus Customer Care, looks like multiple issues which will take a while to resolve: Thank you for contacting us. Just recently we have encountered a number of issues relating to the connected car functionality and our application ‘app’. We are aware of various issues, some of which we know to be a direct result of some recent system changes and the migration of the app to a new platform. While we remain sure of the longer term benefits of this migration, at this moment in time, users might expect some functionality issues where we have no immediate fix. It appears your enquiry relates directly to this matter. Please rest assured we are doing all we can to get to the bottom of these issues but in the meantime we are not able to offer immediate advice or a corrective course of action. We are working towards resolving all current issues. In the meantime, should you choose to remove and reinstall the app and restart the connection process to your vehicle, this will have no detrimental effect. Once we are confident the corrective measures have been made, we will advise all our Centres who can then support and advise you as necessary. If still required, support will be available in the new year from your local Centre. We are sorry for any inconvenience or disruption as a result of this temporary problem and hope this won’t impact greatly on your overall satisfaction with us.
  12. Ok, so I deleted the car from 'my garage' and then re added it, had to go through the whole mileage verification process, but all seems to be working fine now with trips being uploaded as well as the last parked location being updated properly.
  13. I recently upgraded after reading this thread, all seemed to be working until I realised that no trips are being uploaded as part of the hybrid coaching feature. It used to also show the last location of parking, that is not working either. I've sent an email to the app help centre but no response so far 😕
  14. Nick, can I ask if you had a steering lock in place during either or both attempted thefts? I am genuinely surprised nobody has had another go at mine since I've had it back. The only thing I've changed is having the very visible steering lock on at all times when not being driven. I also am in London.
  15. Very sorry to hear this! Could you perhaps ask Lexus for the part number of the wiring loom needed and then order it directly from Japan from Yoshi Parts or other similar websites? I've had a very good experience with them, excellent communication and parts were delivered to me in less than 10 days with full tracking. I needed something that was quoted as £220 including VAT from Lexus UK but got it directly from Toyota in Japan via Yoshi for 70 dollars! You will still need to get a quotation for the labour, probably better from a reputable independent. My two cents as a backup option - you'll need to weigh up the loss of 5 years no claims, insurance excess upfront, plus the increased premium over the next 5 years and see if above might be cheaper overall.
  16. Thanks, Nick, sorry didn't see this until now! Very useful info to know. I am actually looking to sell my ES. After it took over 3 months to get my car back, I have had additional problems and it had to go back in to them again and still waiting to get it back. I spent a very long time researching this car and still do like it but the emotional trauma associated with the theft and the very lengthy subsequent repair process has left me with quite a negative feeling towards this car. I might move away from Lexus altogether, which is indeed quite sad as I've been driving Toyota/Lexus hybrids exclusively for over a decade.
  17. I've just had a quote from Lexus Woodford in London and they definitely gave an automatic 10% discount on the service prices on a service plan vs paying directly for each one. Details say administered by Planmhyservice LLp as mentioned above.
  18. Just an update on this for those who might be interested. It took my useless insurance company over 5 weeks to approve the repair on my car, all the while without a courtesy vehicle, just in case it was deemed a total loss, they only give a courtesy car after it is deemed repair worthy. What an absolute palaver, took them a week to collect the car and take it to copart, then another week for someone at copart to produce a report saying it is repairable, then another week to drop it off to Lexus, Lexus sent the repair estimate on the day it was dropped off. The clowns at insurance took a week to look at the estimate and then decide that an 'independent engineer' would need to visit the car in person to see if they agree with Lexus. Indepandant took 1.5 weeks to visit the car because bloody insurance had given them the wrong address of the car's location! Insurance finally approved the repair last week. AND the cherry on top? Lexus gave me a piece of c**p Toyoa Aygo as a courtesy car. Parts on order and am told there is a backlog for interior parts as they come from abroad, they can't start the work until all parts are here. Needles to say, I am so appalled, I wish I never recovered the car and just got paid out. /Rant
  19. This made me LOL. Gap in the market, Rob, let's start something up? 😅
  20. Thanks for reaching out to Lexus, Mincey. We all need to do the same to make sure this gets on their radar, although it looks like they are already aware but haven't managed to find any useful solution. Abysmal response, given this method of theft has been around for a while. I don't see why they can't roll out a software update that can detect hackers entering the CAN network via the headlight. Longer term solutions for encryption would obviously be a lot more labour intensive and probably only applicable to new cars, not particularly helpful for us current owners. What email did you send your query to?
  21. Thanks for all the sympathies all. Agree with the sentiments above, it really beggars belief that this can go on in 2023! Encryption is such a basic thing used everywhere, I can't believe we pay for such expensive cars and something so basic has been overlooked. I'm told that the 'dustbin lid' type steering locks are better than the T-bar ones, I've had a neighbour who had their car stolen with the T-bar on, the scrotes just cut right through it!
  22. I was gutted to find my ES missing from where I'd parked it on Sunday night. The Lexus Link app came in very handy and showed the car had been moved only a few miles away, I managed to locate it in a gated semi underground parking lot, but there has been significant damage to the car both outside and inside. As far as I can tell, they got in using the 'CAN invasion' technique. I am so disappointed that Toyota have not come up with a solution for this problem, I personally think all late model Lexus and Toyota should be recalled for some sort of software update. The thieves can inject any code to unlock and start the car, via the headlight wiring, as the car's internal comms network does not use encryption. I've only been driving the car for a few weeks after upgrading from my CT200h, super gutted. Even if they repair it, I won't be satisfied knowing it can be stolen again any second, so although I love the car, I may have to sell it as I can't live in constant fear of it being stolen again. Had a call from a police officer today, whose only job is to recover stolen cars, he told me this was the 17th Lexus on his list (which he hadn't got to the end of yet!) from over the long weekend and this new vulnerability is causing a massive spike in thefts. Will be buying a steering wheel lock and potentially a ghost immobiliser. Anybody have any experience with either of those?
  23. Hi Nick, Can't remember the name of the garage but looks like this is the same seller from what I can gather, located in East London E7: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Lexus-CT200h-2011-ON-Catalytic-Converter-Anti-Theft-Protection-Shield-Cover-/284139255201?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l49286&mkrid=710-127635-2958-0
