  1. After 60 years of motoring I had my first experience of having a damaged windscreen en route home from holiday. I thought it might be repairable, but the crack was in direct line of driver vision and was considered to be a potential hazard. I had no difficulty getting Lexus approved windscreen last year. Initial visit from fitter said that the Insurance company would probably not meet the cost and advised me to check with the insurers before proceeding. I did as he asked, and the insurers agreed straight away. Perhaps because I happened to be insured by Toyota?
  2. I also use the YokohamasT215/45/17TOY tyres on my CT200H. I have just renewed my front tyres as I picked up a puncture. They were still legal but they had been on the car for three years and had covered just under 30,000 miles which, given the state of UK roads, I thought was very good. The rear tyre I replaced last summer had covered nearly 40,000 miles since I purchased the car, and may well have covered a lot more before it came into my possession.
  3. had a look when I was out this morning, as John described with pictures above - next to the mirror controls there is a rocker switch with three positions, the top position ensures that the mirrors do not fold when doors are locked, the middle position is automatic folding, and the bottom position closes the mirrors if needed when driving through very narrow gaps or going into your garage if you don't have much clearance (despite having the car for three years I wasn't aware of the benefits of using the bottom position!)
  4. We have the 2015 Premier spec and our mirrors fold when we lock the car. I can't remember how we set that up, but if no one else comes up with the answer I will have a look tomorrow sometime to let you know. Hope you enjoy the car as much as we do. Great choice!
  5. Thanks Joel, link worked perfectly and I have placed an order Just hope I can fit them without too much difficulty. I assume they come with directions. Very grateful
  6. Hi Joel, can't seem to find that deal on the Lexus site, are you able to send me a link please? It's two years since I replaced just the front blades which I had fitted at Halfords - and the cost then was £40. Thanks a million.
  7. I currently have a similar plan covering 2 intermediate services plus one full service at a total price of £905. I also took out a payment plan, paying an up front deposit of £110.40 and have paid 29 instalments of £27.40. Given that the vehicle has not needed any further work in between services, it has been good to have the facility of monthly payments for personal budgetting.
  8. Interesting read - I've had our lovely CT200H since October 2019 and have never noticed this vent myself. It has been serviced by Lexus since new. Thought I would look at the filter yesterday- lifted the cover off, and there is no filter inside at all! Given that the rear offside passenger door is closed most of the time, I wouldn't think much air travels through that vent in any direction - or am I missing something?
  9. Yep - have to agree with Maurice - never had a foggy camera to date, but I clean it on a daily basis, mostly by just wiping my index fingure over it before I get in the car!!!
  10. I initially suspected the change in petrol, as I had a similar drop to around 46 mpg - however I have just checked back to November 2019 and 2020 and found the figures very similar, so it must be the cold methinks. Look forward to the warmer weather and lifting the figure to somewhere between 53-55 mpg again
  11. Welcome Wayne, you may have already scan read the contents of this forum, and you will quickly see how many VERY satisfied owners there are who have made a similar choice to yours. Just remember that your car is now petrol and not diesel - that does take some getting used to! Hope you have many years of happy motoring.
  12. Like others, I go for timescale to coincide with the MOT. Have you considered taking out a three year service plan where you pay monthly. It doesn't work out any cheaper, but it does spread the cost over that period - and it means you get the RELAX guarantee included.
  13. Really grateful to all of you. Our CT is 6 years old and is in near mint condition which is why I am nervous about tackling the job myself - despite having worked in the auto-electric trade just over fifty years ago! I'd hate to mess up any of the trim with my large clumsy hands - and I have read various reviews where installers have made mistakes when working on an identical vehicle. So, whilst the NEXTBASE may not be as good as Viofo recommended by Herbie - how I envy you! - I have booked into Lexus Norwich where they will install NEXTBASE front and rear cameras next week. I value all the comments made on this thread, so thank you.
  14. I am told that the Lexus dealer will supply and fit a front facing NEXT BASE unit for £275 including vat etc. I got the impression that this was the only one they recommended. Has anyone had a dealer quote for a front and rear facing unit including installation and vat? If so, what model and roughly how much? Grateful for all the replies so far. Best wishes
  15. Thanks for the replies so far. I've had a look at the reviews thanks to Herbie, and they look really good. I'm a bit nervous about the task of fitting it myself and don't want to damage trims or headlining in the process. Noticed some comments about the effect of the rear camera conflicting with DAB also. Would welcome comments from others who also have experience. Thanks in anticipation
  16. Hi everyone Had a near miss on the A3 yesterday and, for the first time ever, I just wished that I had a dash cam on board. Anyone on here retro fitted one, and what would you (or others recommend) Thanks in anticipation of your responses
  17. I wouldn't worry too much Damian- on a run we have done as many as 474 miles and it was showing low by the end of the trip, but it only took38 ltrs to fill it up again. We regularly do more than 400 miles between fills and have never had to put more than 38 ltrs to replenish the tank. I'm told that the tank size is 45 ltr. Hope you have a safe trip
  18. If you mean that it revs high when applying putting your foot to the floor in either normal or sport mode, then I have found the same. Having found that in my early days of ownership, I now choose to increase speed in a more sedate manner, and would only "floor it" on rare occasions.
  19. Thanks for all the replies. My Lexus CT is 2015, but I didn't find that model on the Government website. However it does look as though everything will be ok for me and others in a similar situation. Very best wishes
  20. Facebook, which I accept is not always the best source of accurate information
  21. Please be kind to me, how do I find out whether the change in Petrol has implications for me. I keep hearing alarm bells from people regarding the new fuel and have no idea whether the people posting them are just scaremongering. I read this morning that "this new fuel is going to affect rubber gaskets and pipes and some metals too" Surely that isn't true???
  22. I used to pay for hire car insurance when I had the Volvo in for service - but they were the days that I was working. Being retired now, I ask the Lexus dealer to collect my car and return it (when carrying out annual MOT and service). I don't think they usually make a charge for collection and delivery - but I live nearly 60 miles away, so they make a charge of £15 including VAT. I think that is incredibly cheap given the time involved is in excess of 4 hours! I can manage without a car for one day.
  23. Just about every car we have had in the last 20 years, the on board computer (OBC) has registered a higher mpg than the reality! I have come to the conclusion that if the OBC is reading something like an average mpg of say 60 mpg since I last filled up, I can expect to get a reading of around 56 mpg when I do the calculations the old fashioned way - ie. taking the number of miles covered and dividing that figure by the number of gallons consumed (having first converted the number of litres to gallons (Ltrs x 11 divided by 50)
  24. Sad person that I am, I keep detailed records of mpg. Our last vehicle - Volvo v50 drivE version - we completed 87000 miles and the average mpg was 56.43 over 7 years, one motorway journey achieving 72.12 miles, but most journeys around mid 60's mpg - the lowest winter mpg mainly local journeys in cold weather was 45.59 mpg. We've had the 2015 premier CT for 18 months, lockdown means rare journeys. In that period we have covered 12,800 miles with an average mpg of 50.14, highest was 56.47 and the lowest winter local journey was slightly better than the volvo 45.86 mpg. I would have retained the Volvo but for an injury to my left arm making it painful to change gear. Both vehicles extremely comfortable, both very reliable. Plus for the Volvo was extra space in the estate version - but we did incur more costs overall because of repairs needed (car was 10 years old when we exchanged it) Lexus is free of road tax, Volvo was £20 per annum. INSURANCE on Lexus for me is £200 per annum more. Don't know why that should be. Should also compare with diesel focus which we had for 43k miles and average was 50.46 with a high 63.87 journey and low 43.11 for winter local journeys, so MPG figures very similar to our lovely LEXUS, and the Lexus is far more comfortable!
