  1. Thanks all, Done the bounce check and it moves up and down a couple of times before it settles. So I've order new KYB shocks. IceBoy
  2. Hi All, I'm going through my car to make it mechanically sound and although I'm still new to her, I feel the back end is not right. On fast motorway slip roads, the ones that curve to the left or right, the car feels very unstable at the back if there are any bumps in the road surface. I have also notice when carrying passengers in the back on the motorway, over smooth tarmac at 70mph, when the motorway carriageway dips up and down, the car again feels a little unsettled at the back. The car has done 124k, has a full history and the previous owner has fitted Eibach lowering springs, which makes the ride height perfect. In fact the suspension feels excellent at everything except the high-speed undulations in the road surface. Is it time to change the shocks? IceBoy
  3. Thanks Doog, Lots of bedtime reading for me then! IceBoy
  4. Hi All, I have only had the is300 for three weeks and I am looking at going Turbo! Long story short, I have been after a car to modify with my two sons aged 18 and 15, they are both in to cars and I thought this would be a good way to spend time with them, as well as a shared passion. The only company/person I can find is someone called Squint, who advertises on Ebay and I have managed to speak to him over the weekend. The guys seems very knowledgeable and said it could be supplied and fitted for £2500. Now this is almost the value of the car and I want to make sure he is the right person for the job. Does anyone have any experience? I was told that it would be comfortably between 300-330bhp. Now that does sound fun. Current mods: TDR front bumper/spliter TTE aero wheels Eibach lowering springs Japspeed back box going on next week. Help and advise much appreciated. IceBoy PS. still trying to find out where the front drivers side knocking is coming from!!??
  5. Hi All, I have just purchased an is300 (2002) 4 door auto. Beautiful car and some nice mods, which will be added to over the coming year. However, there is a knock coming from the drivers side front, that cannot be found?! I took it to a local garage, who took a large crowbar bar at tried to move the suspension joints and everything was good, both sides. I'm not sure what to try next, could it be the top mount? It make the knocking noise all the time, mostly over little bumps. I have read on the USA forums that it could be brake pads, but not sure how it could be?! Any help much appreciated. IceBoy
  6. Amazing work Rob! One word - WOW. If I had even half of your skills, I would be all over mine....looks like I will have to settle for someone to tweak mine for me, in a mild sort of manner, probably a turbo kit with a few others mods. What sort of power are you making now? IceBoy
  7. Wow. Thanks Rob...will take a read for sure. IceBoy
  8. Hi All, I've just put the deposit down on a 2002 IS300.....absolutely stunning car! I'm already starting to think about turbocharging her and wanted to know if anyone else had gone down this route previously. Lots of reading has been done and I understand the engine is not made for super power but a nice 300-320bhp is possible on low'ish boost, which sounds perfect. There is a guy on Ebay SJS1, who is know as Squint who has turbo'd over 60 is200 and is300 cars.....anyone have experience of him or his product/service. He seems to have built some 700-800bhp is300 as well!! Any help advice and tips would be greatly appreciated. IceBoy
  9. Hello OP here, I have just checked the MOT history and it goes back to 2006, so I think it will be a UK. It is definitely IS300 3.0 straight 6 engine. He said it has the 2JZ GE engine and is an auto. I was supposed to view it today but it now looks like it will be the weekend. Will update you all then. Thanks IceBoy
  10. Hey Rich, Are they all fully loaded or are there specification models like Premium, EX, etc? Also, what are the timing belt intervals? 100k? IceBoy
  11. Thanks Rich, will keep you posted. The car is not advertised and is a friend of a friends car, who I have been told is a bit of a petrol head. Apparently it has a TOMS bumper and headunit upgrade. I will check about cambelt changes. IceBoy PS Are they sluggish or are they responsive?
  12. Hi All, I'm going to look at the above car later today and wanted some pointer around what to look out for? The car is a 2002 salon has 130k on the clock and has a square number plate at the front with an Asseto badge or something similar on the front grill. Is this an import and non-uk car? Anything particular I should check on this? Any help tips and advice greatly appreciated. When should timing belts be replaced? IceBoy
  13. Thanks All, I will try and get a drive in one, over the next week or two. Iceboy
  14. HI All, As you have probably seen from my earlier post, I'm thinking of jumping in to the RX450h as a daily driver. Probably the only reservation I have in my mind is that CVT gearboxes have such a strange feeling/usage compared to a normal torque converter gearbox and this somewhat impacts the feeling and driving of the vehicle. I have only owned one CVT gearboxed car in the past, an Audi A6 of 2004 vintage and I didn't like the way it hung on to revs for the speed to catch up. The only saving grace was that it did have a manual mode which simulated gear changes. Ultimately this car will replace my S-Class, so space, pace and grace is the most important factors for me. Discuss please, as this is my only reservation at the moment. Iceboy
  15. OP here, is there much disadvantage going for a cheaper non-face lift car? Iceboy
  16. Hi All, I'm a newbie here and am looking for my next daily family car. The RX450h has caught my eye. With a budget of £9-13k I see I can get either a pre-face lift or face-lift car. A few questions: Could someone explain the difference, except for the grill? What are the various trims available, Luxury, SE ? What should I look out for? Can these cars run electric only up to a certain speed or distance? Can I expect 30mpg average? Thanks all in advance, I look forward to searching for my first Lexus! Iceboy
  17. Hi All, I'm a newbie here but not new to being a petrol head LOL. I need a new daily and want to spend £9-13k and the RX450h seems to fall in to this bracket. Any help and advice would be appreciated and I will post specific questions in the RX forum. Iceboy
