  1. Hi guys, the car (IS250 Auto) is running fine but Im looking to get it serviced . What I'm looking for is having a full service , plus the oil filter in the gearbox changed and the oil in the back axle . I have a garage in mind which in the Hinds Head Garage in Chorley (unless you know or can recommend a better one?) . It has Magnatec oil in at the moment so I may stick to that (no pun intended ) but again if there is a better recommendation ? Engine oil filter ??? Mann? Wix ?? And the gearbox filter , I have seen this changed on youtube and there is an oil filter replace with an after market "copy" again, recommendations please ! Transmission oil , should it be from the dealer or another ?? Back axle oil, same again, which is best ? Finally..... anybody give me an idea as to cost for all this to be done ? I'm in Warrington but if you know of a highly recommended garage, please let me know ! Cheers, Alan
  2. Hi guys, I'm looking for a good honest Lexus mechanic not too far from me ( Cheshire) My car will need servicing soon and I want a few other jobs doing by somebody who knows what they are doing and won't rip me off ! So a full service , oil filter change in the gearbox (auto) back axle oil , I think there may be a tappet that needs adjusting , if they can be adjusted ? Any recommendations ? I have been recommended a garage near Chorley , I think it's called The Hinds head garage but I know nothing of them . Cheers !
  3. My wipers are quite noisy , no idea if they are original or not. I was going to replace them with silicon ones , if they are available . If these are original how will I identify them? Are the replacements you mention silicon or rubber and where did you buy them?? Cheers, Alan.
  4. After me just having both bumpers resprayed some body bumped into the rear bumper and smashed the reflector !! Any Ideas where I should look for a replacement ? or is it just Ebay ?? Alan
  5. I imagine this subject has been done to death......sorry ! But, being a new owner of an IS 250 2006 petrol I really would like any and all advice on oil recommendations , both engine and gear box please, Also which filters to use ?? Only owned the car about a month and it has a full service history/ On the last receipt , done at 90k it says it has had both oils changed , me not being of the trusting type intend to do both , plus filters. So as much as it is a pain , whats the thinking on oils for these things ?? In my last car , a C180k Merc I used "triple qx" from euro parts .
  6. hallelujah !! I couldn't find any rubber so I used some of that felt pad stuff you stick under chair legs . Its about 8mm thick ... Slid one piece down the middle as you said and two pieces stuck back to back in the far right near the door pillar and it's Gone !!! I mean its really just GONE !!!! Such a HAPPY BUNNY !!! Thank You Guys !!
  7. Thanks for that Declan !! not been able to find anything more about this on here , loads on another Lexus site. Silly question but could you give me an idea of the size and thickness of the piece if rubber you used please , knowing me I will try to jam a tyre in there lol !! Cheers Mate !!
  8. Hi Guys , I have a Veeeeeeeery annoying rattle from , I think , the centre section og my dash . It happens when I drive over bumps or just an uneven road surface. Its driving me NUTS !!! It seems to stop when the car / dash gets warm ?? Maybe some expansion going on?? Is this common ?? there is this guy on youtube who has the same problem
  9. Hi guys, opened the boot this morning via the button , got to where I was going and nothing ??!! Opened it with the key . Tried the switch on the dash..nothing .. and still nothing at the boot . Any Ideas ?? Cheers !!
  10. Thanks for the reply !! Could you, or would you, recommend a good protector ??
  11. Just looked on ebay for DODO JUICE , £21 for 500ml cleaner and 250ml sealant ....... but in on of the otherwise glowing reviews there was this : Having successfully used Autoglyn leather cleaner and leather balm for over 10 years I thought I'd give this product a try. After testing on an inconspicuous area on my 5 years old Lexus RX450 I gave the drivers seat, which was not particularly dirty, a clean according to instructions. You can imagine my horror when it removed a lot of the the dye from the cream leather. The seat now looks patchy losing the car considerable value. Be wary! Verified purchase: Yes | Condition: New
  12. And All The Very Best to You And Yours !!
  13. Hi Chaps , Sooooooo many products out there to choose from for leather cleaning an treatments, vinyl and plastics , dash cleaners and such like. One guy on youtube recommends cleaning with a magic eraser , another says don't !! One demonstration, again on youtube recommends WOOLITE to clean leather. Having said all that , I believe modern leather has a coating that is almost a vinyl , so making it a waste of time and money actually treating leather with such as Autoglym Leather Balm etc .... So, what do you chaps reckon ?? Cheers in Advance !! PS. got the wheels powder coated the other day ...looks great !!
  14. Fantastic ! let us know how you like you new baby !!
  15. Thanks for that Peter . watched some body on youtube who recommended a wool detergent . Cheers ! Zuke
  16. So this is250 that I have just bought , its in really good condition, as I said a couple of paint work issues but I'll get that done. The wheels are "ok" but , since I will be keeping this long term I would like to have them reconditioned ....PROPERLY !! Im in Cheshire (the poor part ) any body had theirs done within reasonable distance from me ?? Lots of stuff on youtube on home jobs but I would like a full strip, sandblast , powder coat etc . Or , if there is a recommended way of having the wheels done could you let me know please ?? Also an idea of having this sort of work done (on average) the leather looks quite clean but I will be wanting to clean them and treat the leather , best ways ?? products ?? Zuke.
  17. Thanks for the replies , the way some people were talking I was expecting in the low 20's ! If I get that sort of mpg Im gona be Ohhhhh so happy !!😉 My merc was around that , maybe because I don't have heavy feet ?? Thanks again chaps for taking the time to reply.........means a lot ! Zuke .
  18. Thanks for the replies chaps ! much appreciated . I bought the car today ! 😂 Picking it up on Sunday . There are a few paint issues , like the front bumper , nothing major . Any ideas as to m,p,g ?? The Merc was a C180 Kompressor 6 speed manual which to be fair has been, and really still is a good car. Just fancied a change , always liked the lexus . Looking muchly forward to owning it and getting advice from here !! Zuke .
  19. Hi , went to look at a Lexus is 250 yesterday, I actually thought I actually thought I had bought the car pending the results of the Lexus going through an mot . Long story short , the guy isn't sure if he wants my merc in px now . But anyway , I had a little drive, as you do , and thought the car was a tad underpowered for a 2.5 petrol . is this normal for these things ? I had heard them called a sheep in wolfs clothing on youtube. Not overly bothered about that really just looking for any advice on the cars in general , mpg , etc Cheers , Zuke
