  1. If you angle the mirrors down a gap appears at the top of the wing mirror wide enough to slot the mirrors in https://www.milenco.com/products/mirrors/milenco-aero-3-mirror
  2. This happened a few months ago on my 2010 RX450h. I disconnected the 12v battery and reconnected it again and the error disappeared for a short while. however it came back after a week or two. I took it into Lexus Cheltenham and they replaced the Hybrid coolant pump. This has fixed the problem but cost me £1000.
  3. My 2010 RX450H spring suspension 450h (owned for three years of so) is the same. Great on flat roads, poor on bumpy roads. I replaced front and rear shocks, but made limited difference. I also fitted rubber spring assistors in the rear springs, this made a modest difference I think. Tyres Michelin Cross Climates are good. might try getting some rubber suspension bushes replaced as they have been identified as ageing, but not in need of immediate replacement I'm going to stick with the car for the next couple of years as it is generally very good and the benefits outweigh the negatives for me.
  4. My power back door stopped working during the winter, as the weather warmed up and became less humid in May the power ack door started working again. It is still working, but anticipate it will stop again when the cold damp weather comes back. Probably a corrosion issue somewhere in the unit.
  5. Hi took the car to Lexus Cheltenham and for the 'Check Hybrid System' error they diagnosed a faulty hybrid system pump. It was replaced quickly and everything works as it should. Unfortunately the bill was £1200. The power back door is still broken, just working out what the best thing to do is, try to get a cheaper unit from abroad and fit it myself or pay the £1500 for the dealer to replace it!
  6. do you have roof bars ? that might be a way for water to get in and run down the inside of the trim ? Leak in the heater system ?
  7. Hi thanks for that, could you provide me with the dimensions of the unit roughly in CM, I just need to make sure my daughter will be able to post it from the US Dave
  8. I can lock and unlock the car using the under number plate button but I cant open the tailgate using these buttons
  9. Hi Joe, I bought my 2009 RX450h a few years ago, shortly afterwards I felt exactly like you, disappointed with the ride quality but otherwise very nice. I changed the rear shocks, it made no difference, after a leaky front shock I also replaced both those. changing them made no real difference to ride quality. I tow a caravan and put rubber spring assisters in the rear coil springs. I think that has improved the roll at the rear a bit. The main reason I have not changed the car is that it has a tow bar and is fine for towing, it's immune from ULEZ problems, I don't want a diesel due to previous DPF nightmare. Cant really afford a newer more expensive model. I only drive about 7000 miles per year. I like the comfort and finish and space. Driving on fast A roads or motorways is good. It's pretty quick and grips well round corners. But all I wanted was a smooth comfortable ride! I have just got used to it as it is. Not sure what else to buy !
  10. I can turn the screen display off on my 2010 RX450h, click the small 'Disp' button on the centre console, then use the pointer to the Screen Off button.
  11. I took the car for a short drive over twisty & steep terrain, the Hybrid system check and Brake system check messages did not reappear and the battery-engine graphics are all working as they should. I will just have to carry on hoping it doesn't reappear Dave
  12. I have a similar problem on my 2010 RX450 (100k) , I am suspecting my PBD motor has failed due to water /damp damage, possibly due to water ingress through the roof rails, does you car have roof rails ? Also I live in Cheltenham but haven't been to Listers yet. I think I will get them to service the car but might end up replacing this PBD unit myself as I have no warranty.
  13. Hi Herbie, I am joining this recent and long thread about failed PBD motors. If you can forward me your notes I would appreciate it. Thanks. Symptoms, inside and outside buttons don't do anything, no beeps. Have to open boot from inside. I am suspecting my motor has failed due do dampness causing corrosion on the PCB. I found 5mm of water in my battery compartment yesterday, it had to come from somewhere. Carpets dry. when I purchased the car a couple of years ago I fitted roof bars from LPD. I did not use any sealer, perhaps that was required and dampness has penetrated the bolt holes. I will have to investigate. Another observation is that gas struts have been weakening and I am wondering if that has put a stress on the motor. 12V batter is new and in good shape. I am contemplating getting a 68910-48023 unit from the USA 400 USD and paying the VAT/Duty. Is the unit very heavy ? My daughter lives in the US so could post it. https://www.mylparts.com/oem-parts/lexus-2010-2013-lexus-tailgate-pull-down-motor-689100e024?c=cT02ODkxMC00ODAyMw%3D%3D Thanks Dave
  14. I was reading the recent rear door thread lock and decided to check the 12v battery. It was charged at 13.5V and is only 12-18 months old, so looks OK, however it was sitting in about 5mm of water. Not sure where it came from but I assume the door seal. I disconnected the battery and dried it all up. Upon restarting the car, the check engine error is no longer displaying but the boot wont unlock, I have to open it from inside. I have to time to test drive today but will again tomorrow
  15. Hello, Yesterday, my boot wouldn't open (auto or manual), today after driving about 30 miles the Check Hybrid System warning came on so I decided to drive home, a couple of times when breaking on the return trip the TRC light came on and Check Brake System message was displayed. Obviously I have a lot of investigating to do, reading past posts etc. to decide what to do next, but if anyone can advise me in the mean-time I would appreciate it. I have owned the car for about two years and done 30k miles (now at 100k). I replaced the 12v battery about 18 months ago will go off now and check it's state, although I haven't noticed any other signs of a weakening battery. Thanks Dave
  16. Update, the problem turned out to be a slightly loose bolt on the witter removable towbar! Thanks for your help a while ago
  17. Thanks for your replies, really trying to find out if my car is the same as other RX450s of the same era, appear to have soft springs. I have regular coil suspension and a single axle caravan with a maximum weight of about 1500KG, although I think I am quite a bit less than that, more like 1300KG. Nose weight of caravan was about 50-60 KG. RX450h limit states 80kg. Tow bar is a Witter San neck and correct for the vehicle. I am thinking that my springs may be softer than normal and may have weakened as my unladen ride is pretty soft and the car rolls over bumps. I can't find any after market springs that are stiffer. I already replaced the shocks and it made little difference. I'm going to try Spring Assitors as an interim measure, ideally I would like stiffer springs. David
  18. I have a 2010, 78k, the ride quality is pretty poor, it wallows about at the back. I had the rear shocks replaced at my local garage with standard lexus shocks. It made very little difference. I think that the springs are weakened or were never firm enough. I'm still working on the problem. I'm probably going to replace the springs but might try to get some stringer/stiffer springs as I tow a caravan
  19. Hi All, I have a 2010 RX450h 87k. I tow a 2 berth caravan and the rear springs are bottoming out. There is a grinding noise and the local garage have noticed the rub marks. The towing weight and nose weight are within the specifications for the car. Caravan is loaded correctly. I use a Witter swan neck removable tow bar. The caravan sits quite nose down when hitched. A couple of questions please ? Has anyone upgraded their rear springs upgraded for towing? if so, what springs did you use ? Do standard springs deteriorate over time ? , the rear end rolls around quite a bit when not driving on flat roads. Does anyone use spring assistors for towing ? Thanks for any advice about caravan towing etc. Dave
  20. I have recently changed mine on a 2009 RX450h with 82,000. After buying the car I was disappointed by the bouncing over bumps and pot holes. I replaced the shocks with standard shocks from Lexus parts direct, £55.20 each + £50 to fit by my local garage. I think the ride is a bit better but not great. Fine on flattish roads, if the car is loaded up it also rides very well. On poor local roads, I still notice the bouncing, but not quite as bad as it was. https://www.lexuspartsdirect.co.uk/parts/lexus-rx/lexus-rx-phase-iii-2009-2015/lexus-rx-2009-2015-steering-suspension/lexus-rx-phase-3-rear-shock-absorber-for-3-5l-petrol-hybrid/
  21. Hi, I had the 10 year old shocks replaced and the ride is improved. When going over pot holes, bumps, speed bumps, the rebound is quicker and the car less bouncy, so it was worth doing. enjoying the car very much. Dave
  22. Thanks, I purchased a couple of rear shocks from Lexus Parts Direct, my usual garage will fit them on Tuesday for £55, total cost about £160. Here's hoping for a smoother ride.
  23. Hello, I just bought a 2009 450f SE with 82000 miles, it's in very good shape all round and drives very well. This weekend I put 250 miles on it on a long journey. However I noticed that it was very bouncy when going over uneven surfaces, which was disappointing. I had a look at the shocks and they are the conventional type (non-air) thankfully. I plan to start with replacing the rear shocks. Is there a preferred brand ? should I get them from Lexus of another maker? I am hoping to make the ride as good as it can be and don't mind paying a bit more for better shocks. thanks, looking forward to enjoying my first Lexus. Dave
