  1. In the past I've always asked things like does the dealership know if the car has been smoked in previously, or been used to carry pets by the previous owner(s), if these things are an issue for you. But as others have said, a 2020 car should mostly be in very good condition.
  2. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year everyone! 🎄 🙂 🎅
  3. I would say this is a little excessive, but may be down to the driving style of the previous owner. Having said that, the RX is hardly a car to throw into the corners 😄 My 2019 RX still has it's original Bridgestone Duelers, and has about 5mm at the front at 6mm at the rear after 17k miles (owned from 3 months old where it had only done 7 miles).
  4. I too have a pre-facelift 4RX. I also believe this to be true, but sometimes the nav will revert to the national speed limit sign when a speed limit has been displayed and then passed, e.g. temporary speed restriction signs on motorways.
  5. Hi Chaz, welcome to the forums and congrats on your new purchase. I don't often drop the seats in mine - from memory the levers can be a bit stiff - but yes, those levers should drop the back seats down.
  6. This is very sad news. Condolences to all of John's friends and family, he will be a much missed member of this forum.
  7. I've had my pre-facelift 2019 RX 450h for 3 years, no issues whatsoever with seat comfort 🙂
  8. Cheers Piers, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to everyone 🎄 🙂 🎅
  9. My RX is still on the factory fitted Bridgestone Duelers. They seem OK to me, but maybe there are better choices out there. I shall be keeping a look out when mine are needing to be changed 🙂
  10. Kia Picanto might be worth a look at too (almost identical to the i10).
  11. The Mk4 RX is able to do about 45mph on the battery alone, in the right conditions of course 🙂
  12. I suspect this might be the case. My roadside assistance would have ended at the end of September, but I received a letter (can't remember exactly when, but around May 2020?) stating that they were giving me a 3 months roadside assistance extension until the end of December.
  13. For RXs first registered upto and including 31st March 2017, the current rate is £165 per year. For RXs first registered after that date, the current rate is £510 per year (£155 rate for alternative fuel cars, plus £355 for cars with an original list price greater than £40k, until the car reaches 6 years of age).
  14. My average is about 35.6 MPG over about 13500 miles (mixture of town, rural and motorway driving).
  15. Could a new owner have put a private plate on the car? I saw something similar with one of my older cars (couldn't find it via MoT checks), and then it reappeared a few years later (when presumably the original reg plate was reapplied).
  16. I got a full tank when I bought my RX from Milton Keynes.
  17. Congrats on your purchase Ian - love the combination of ivory leather with the black exterior 😎 Hope you enjoy your new steed 👍
  18. No issues from Lexus Stockport either regarding courtesy cars for my last 2 services, and the fuel pump recall. I didn't get to choose the courtesy cars (but then again, I didn't ask), but I was more than happy to use one CT and two UXs on those occasions. Was interesting to drive them, and get a basic understanding what the cars are like.
  19. I have the double beep on my RX for speed cameras, but mine is a pre-facelift Mk 4. Perhaps the beep setting has been turned off (I don't know if this affects the double beep speed camera warning though):
  20. I had a short walkthrough of certain features when I bought my nearly new RX in 2019. The dealer also asked me if I had any questions (I did have a few), but he was happy to answer them. As others have said, the manuals are a mine of information but are quite lengthy. It's possible to order paper copies of the full manuals from Lexus UK if you prefer reading them rather than from a phone/tablet/computer (or at least this was the case when I asked last year).
  21. Excellent Peter, welcome to the RX club 🙂 I'm sure you will enjoy your new steed, please post a few more pictures when you have the chance 🙂
  22. Yes, it is possible to reduce the volume level of the boot warning:
  23. I asked a similar question when offered to take out a 3 year service plan with my RX I bought from Lexus Milton Keynes (as I live in Gtr Manchester). They informed me the service plan they were offering could be used at any Lexus dealership. I paid just over £1000 in 2019, so I think this has worked out cheaper than paying to individual services (not yet had the 3rd service).
  24. I holidayed in St. Ives for many years in the 80s and early 90s. Lovely part of the world, but takes ages to get to (from NW England 🙂). I always thought when I got to Exeter, 'not too far to go now' 😄
