I own a 1997 Lexus ES300. Can anyone advise me if I can upgrade my tyre size from the standard 205-65-15 to 225-60-15 using the existing alloy rims. My main concern is will the larger size tyre clear the struts etc Thanks, Brian
  2. I had a 92 ES 300 that had the same problem. Initial diagnostic were the transmision was shot but in the end it was a dirty connection on a sensor socket located on the transmision housing. If I had taken advice from Lexus NZ they would have taken the transmision out and rebuilt it for about $3000.00 A trip to a specialist transmision repair shop fixed the problem in a few seconds at no charge. The vehicle has since been sold and travelled in excess 200,000 km since the incorrect diagnossis was made and only had regular servicing with no further probems. I'm now a happy owner of a 99 model and continue to get it fully serviced every 10,000 km at Hutt Automatics in Lower Hutt. Hogie.
  3. No probs Bro, if you need any more info or you would like a set of genuine Lexus ES 300 Gold badges, give me a hoot on, (bfh@slingshot.co.nz) I have owned three of these vehicles and can supply programing details for registration and setting up of the remote central lock/unlock features on most Toyota autos if there is a problem. Cheers, Hogie.
  4. I think it would look very nice. To get the full effect discard the bonnet to enable max air cooling of all the anodised covers. By doing this you will also enable everyone to see your pride and joy as well as the service station attendants you ask to check your oil every 50 miles or so. The bonnet may be worth a quid or two at Steptoe and Son which will offset your anodising costs. Perhaps if you sliced the roof of it would also give a beter view of the leather upholstery from outside the vehicle and give you another three or four quid in scrap. If this doesnt succeed get a Holden Import from Aus. Cheers, Bri.
  5. I also have a 1997 Toyota Windom 3.0G fitted with the same setup. Radio, TV and GPS. On the front top left side of the unit is printed Toyota # 16004 dolby sound. The Toyota # on the system is 86120-33192 when removed and viewed from the rear. There is also a Toyota GPS sender unit mounted in the boot under the rear parcel tray and has a Toyota CD which shows me driving around Tokyo. Not much use in Wellington ? Any ideas on how to get the GPS and TV to work in NZ. Email to bfh@slingshot.co.nz Cheers, Bri. ( Hogie )
  6. Check below the dash on the drivers side next to the hood release lever. There is a knob which will enable you to adjust the variable volume from on to off. It is easily shifted by mistake when releasing the hood, especially when feeling around under there without looking where your going. Trust this info helps. Hogie.
  7. The knob under the dash on the drivers side controls the sound level for the beep when you use remote lock/unlock from the key. On my vehicle the electronic sports suspension control is situated in the center console behind the transmission shift lever in line with the front edge of the seats and is a thumb wheel adjustment with four or five click settings. Lift the bonnet and see if there are wires feeding into the top of the front suspension struts. If not your version is not a G spec, fully featured model. I also have a new set in original packaging of Lexus ES 300 gold badges for sale, Toyota #00577-33950. Anyone interested make an offer to ( bfh@slingshot.co.nz ) These cost new $NZ 502.00, any reasonable offer accepted. Trust this info is of help. Regards, Hogie.
