  1. A clean bill of health from the yearly MOT test on my 2007 350 SE-L here in the UK, I bought this in January to use as one of my dailys and have put nearly 10k miles on it and it now has 73400 miles on it. When I bought it I had a full service to include plugs, all filters, rear brake discs (rotors) and pads plus the slider pin kits and since then it's been a joy to drive, this week I had front discs (rotors), pads with slider pin kit and both front suspension drop links replaced and next week 2 rear tyres go on. I also went through all of the known water leak areas and sorted all of those plus cleaned the headlights with one of those kits from an automotive store. It's been a total joy to own and even though it's 16 years old, it's well spec'd and very confortable and i intend to keep it for a while now, it shares the drive with 2 other far more expensive cars but I always choose this to jump into as it's just so easy in every way... Cheers Greg
  2. Thanks Bill, I've used them in the past with my GS430 Sport, recently i had a major service done on the RX with them and the attention to detail with oil marks in the car and other things has put me off using them again although being close ish to where i live. Also when I asked for the cam cover gaskets to be replaced whilst they had it stripped to do the plugs, they were not done, when asking upon collection he said "oh its just some excess oil from when someone has topped it up" I'm far from stupid and an ex mechanic from many years ago so know what i'm talking about as its leaking onto the exhaust manifold and smelling - Hence why I will not be using them again... Its now booked in with Paul at Toyotatech in Guildford who is an hour away from my home but from his initial calls and emails, he seems the person I want to deal with. plus his reviews are excellent.
  3. All the information i needed for everything I've done on my RX since getting it in February i got from this Forum and also a Facebook group..... very helpful people within both groups...
  4. One thing i forgot that i did too is to make sure the Air con condensor drain tube is clear that runs from behind the bottom of the dashboard and out under the car by the gearbox, these can block and dump water into the (uk) drivers side footwell...
  5. A very common issue with the early RX's and I've just gone through all this on my newly purchased 2007 RX 350, I also had damp front mats and water getting into the boot running down both rear roof sides staining the trim. The first thing to do is the sunroof drains and one of the main culprits for these issues, 2 drains holes at the front and 2 at the back... the front are easier which you can see at the front of the sunroof rails when open, the rears are hidden within the roof and the rear panels of the car need to be removed as the drain tubes are more than likely kinked/crimped as many and I have found which leads to the backing up of water and leaking into the side trims and into the floor area - to clear these blow some air gently down the holes (front) or I used an old curtain wire that fits perfectly... test when done putting some water down the holes and it should come out just behind the front wheel. The second are the roof rail mountings, very easy to remove the rails and seal around the mountings with silicon sealant The third are the roof body seams at the back of the roof rails going down towards the boot hatch The fourth are the tailgate strut mounts, seal all round these with silicon The fifth are around the rear lights The sixth are the body seams behind the rear bumper This all sound scary but are very easy to do and the main culprits are the sunroof drains, roof rail mountings and rear lights... I sealed 1 - 5 on the list with clear silicon sealant and so far its all dry even after all this rain we've had recently. More than happy to talk on the phone if needed. Cheers and good luck!
  6. Looking for a good trusted, respected specialist to service and do general maintenance on my 2007 RX350 near Reading/Wokingham - I don't want a general "all Japanese cars" garage. Can anyone help me? Cheers Greg
  7. Sounds like a thermostat issue you have there, stuck open or closed....
  8. Had the car just over 2 weeks and been working through the water leak areas.... Sealed up the roof bar fitting points, cleaned and blown out front sunroof drains, stripped the rear out tonight and found one severely collapsed rear sunroof drain where I cut about 2" off and refitted.. all good now, the other side was blown out too and both sides fished through with a curtain wire... Pulled Aircon drain tube off and blown that out too. Sealed the rear roof seams at the top of the tailgate and also rear hatch strut mounts, last job to do tomorrow is remove the rear lights and seal all those up so they don't let any water in or mist up....accomplished allot in the 2 weeks I've had it... Had a full Hunter alignment too... It's booked in for a Major service, spark plugs and both rocker gaskets as they're leaking plus rear discs (rotors) and pads next week.....
  9. An old thread revival - I'm back in a Lexus after a few years and have just bought a 2007 RX350SE-L as a 2nd car with 65k miles and have all the problems above, I'll be stripping the back of the car out to seal everywhere and clear the rear sunroof drains and also removing the roof rails to seal those too. I've cleared the front sunroof drains. @Siberpir8 Did you finally get to the bottom of all your leaks? Cheers Greg

  14. The bottom arms and bolts had to be cut off and took nearly 3 hours for both sides as bolts seized inside bushes..... absolute nightmare!!!
