  1. News to me..I thought I had the new model,,,June 04
  2. For the RX300? I guess that is the old model though. The new model will hold its value better. ← News to me..I thought I had the new model,,,June 04
  3. Over the last couple of days I have rang a number of dealers to enquire as to the trade value of my RX300 sat nav with 6k on the clock and registered new by me in June 2004 (non smokers car), the reason for this is that I wanted a ball park figure as to the value so that I can budget for when I get the RX400 in June 2005. The most any of the dealers offered was £26500 and went on to inform me that this is before the end of the year as it will dip quite a bit further in January. I paid £35500 in June, a loss I expect, but a dip of £9000 in 5mts is hard to swallow, what on earth will it be worth in June 05.
  4. When this first happened to me I thought my tyres were under inflated, it is some-what annoying as you say. It is as if the rims are whacking off the speed bump at a speed of only 10mph...Not good.
  5. I have just had my RX300 back to the dealer for the 4th time regarding the wipers, front and rear, it is only 5mts old. They 1st changed the rubbers on the front ones because of streaking but it still peristed. They then told me they were going to order new wiper arms and would call me in a few days, five weeks go by and I call in there only to be told there is a problem with supply and they would have to take them off a new car?(What about the poor guy in the new car), I am still waiting. Whilst there I mentioned that the rear wiper is noisy and patchy, the sales manager told me it is a fault that Lexus are aware of, something to do with the curveture of the rear window, and the are trying to come up with a mod. Anyone else have these problems, are they particular to the current model?
  6. I know this topic has been discussed many times but has anyone an update on the expected delivery(year will do) of the RX400. I for one am getting somewhat impatient with the lack of communication from Lexux UK seeing that I have put down a deposit and have heard nothing from either Lexus or the dealer. I phoned Lexus this week to be met with a total lack of info. I need to prepare finance etc and I hate the fact that I am expected to sit in the wings and wait for any news. I can understand that they may have to put the delivery back for wharever reason, but that should not mean that we are given the mushroom treatment.. LEXUS get your act together.
  7. The car is silver and I always use a cloth to wash and then dry off with a clean leather chammy. It was only polished twice and it was with Turtle wax.
  8. I now have my RX 300SE for two months with 2K on the clock, I must say I am happy with the car but not with the number of surface scratches that seem to be appearing daily, not deep into the paint-work but more so on the metallic surface glaze. My car has never been through a car wash and is washed weekly by hand, no I do not drive down narrow country roads and the car has had a protective polish put on it. There are also a number of stone chips on the front, (no chips on any previous cars) therfore I am left to wonder if Lexus's achiles heel is the paint work. Lastly what is the correct tyre pressure, the manual says 32psi but the tyres look some what under inflated, even though I know they are low profile.
  9. I agree with nickjwarman when he states that as customers we are entitled to be disappointed with the ongoing saga on the arrival of the much awaited RX400. I too have put down a deposit and I am second on the list, but I seem to be the last to know of any postponement. I think that Lexus owe it to us to keep us informed of any changes and should get their act together and stick to a definite date.
  10. I have tried them all and the RX300 is by far the best and I am pretty hard to please
  11. Hi and welcome. Like you I am a new member and also a newcomer to Lexus. I have found that a good place to keep coins is in the depressed area of the drivers door handle, they have even padded it so you cannot hear the coins rattle. As to the Scottish visit, I too am a Celt, so it would take more than a strong light to upset or rattle us. Cheers Allan.
  12. The dealership is " McCarthy's Lexus", which is now "Jemca" on Burnt Ash Lane, Bromley, Kent... Cheers Allan
  13. I now have my new RX300SE for a couple of weeks and I am still pleased with the car. One of the things I have noticed is that the brake and gas pedal seem to be very close to each other and often when braking my shoe seems to touch the gas pedal, and no I do not have huge feet, I wear 10" (44), anyone else notice this or is it just me. The centre air vents, can they be controlled independently, my wife does not like the air to blow on her wheras I do. The side ones can be turned off in turn but not the two in the centre, or can they? I know I can set passenger and driver temperature seperately but this does not cure the problem and no I am not getting rid of the wife! Also this is the 1st car I have purchased from new where the garage has not contacted me to see how I am getting on with the car, BMW, Land Rover, Mitsubishi, Mercedes and even Toyota (LC5) do, must be a Lexus thing. I must be getting hooked on this website, it's very addictive. Cheers Allan.
  14. Hi. First of all I would like to thank all you nice folk out there without whom I would not now be the proud and happy owner of a new RX300SE. I came accross you by accident and found myself being drawn in by the great articles and feeling of comradship amonst you all, to the point I decided to book a test drive and immediately ordered my car and cancelled my order for the BMW X5, so sponcors take note **THIS WEBSITE REALLY WORKS**. I took delivery of the car last week and my sunroof would not auto operate, but I knew how to remedy that, I wonder how? The car is a dream to drive but I being a tall chap found that the roof could do with being an inch or two higher. The sat-nav is great except for the "I agree" which has to be pressed each time, maybe it's a form of brain-washing so that next time you are asked to purchase a new car you are already conditioned. Any ideas on how to cut down on the finger marks on the touch screen? So again thank you all...Allan.
