  1. Hi all, little update... Still not solved this problem but have some more information if that could lead to getting some help. The steam is not just coming out of where the photo is circled above, it is also coming out from a bit further over on the right towards the middle of the bulkhead. It is quite visible at stationary. The car has developed a damp smell inside the cabin and the windscreen is prone to misting over. Once I put the A/C on the air is cold that comes out of the vents and it clears the screen almost instantly. The steam also stops from under the bonnet... 🤔 Idle speed is 1200rpm with the heater on, 1k rpm normal and 800rpm with A/C on. I'm not losing fluid or oil from my coolant, car is running fine apart from the usual smoke from the exhaust when it's 1/4 way warmed up. Anybody able to help? Is this to do with my A/C unit/filters? any pipes to look at?
  2. Hi all I have a problem with smoke coming from under the bonnet when stationary, not all the time but quite occasionally. Since owning the car from febuary i've had poor mpg and the usual smoke from the exhaust so cleaned the EGR (twice) and have driven it over some long runs to try and clear out the carbon deposits. After doing the first trip i pulled into maccys to get my lad a happy meal, and whilst at window 2 the bonnet smoked like a female dog and it started to come in through the air vents and smelt strongly of diesel!!! Found the culprit to be a leaking fuel line from the common rail so changed it and the fuel stopped leaking and the smoking stopped... for a bit. Then at the lights one day i started to notice smoke coming up from the scuttle panel, i pulled over and raised the bonnet and the smoke stopped and some washer fluid dripped from the bonnet so thought it may be that burning in the engine bay and just a querk of the car. Then i noticed it happening when i hadn't used the screenwash so thought it may be the heater as it comes from that area, but it happens even when i haven't used the heater either?!?! I keep checking for leaks but can't find any and my coolant level and oil are all fine. It is coming from this area under the heater(?) next to the drivers side bonnet strut, anybody have any idea where the smoke/steam may be coming from? TIA Andy
  3. Thanks for your reply Shahpor, thats a bit of help at least a decent starting point 👍 Greatly appreciated. Looks like i've followed it apart from the torque setting, may drive it to a garage tomorrow then if I can find one open?! 🙄 If there are any more clued up members available to help in the meantime it would also be appreciated... Cheers
  4. Hi all, Just bought an IS220D as "Spare or Repair" as it was chucking out white smoke... Common issue im finding out. The owner used it a couple of times to drive the couple of town miles to work and didnt want to drive it after seeing the smoke. After reading on here i concurred with her chap that it was probably the DPF/EGR so had a gamble on it. Its a lovely drive apart from the smoke and the turbo lag lmao. After a few days i took the car on a nice A road blast to see the inlaws and on the way back, when I stopped of at the drive thru I saw smoke coming in through the air vents and from under the bonnet!!! There was also a smell of fuel which had been persent for the past couple of trips i'd had in it. That's when I saw the fuel leak from the fuel pipe going to injector 1 (red arrow). I took the pipe off and gave the ends a clean and inspection and it looked fine (to my eye anyway) so refitted it, now its leaking from underneath the nut (green arrow). I'm stumped, what have i done to make it stop leaking from the top and now start leaking from the bottom? What would cause this to happen initionally? How would I fix this? Answers on a postcard... Or preferable on here 🙂 TIA
  5. Hi Scudney, my R6 is called scud 🙂 I've found it quite helpfull so far, including the list of common problems with the IS220... but with owning an R6 5EB, and previously owning a K-Series Rover, Classic Mini and some other cars I must be a sucker for punishment haha.I can't find much information on my issue though so far. Touch wood this car is running fine apart from the leak, and if this is what its like before its fixed and the turbo lag is sorted then im impressed as its so smooth. I did opt for the 220D for economy but i've soon reliesed i'm mistaken on that respect 🤣 got an impressive 23.7mpg showing on the display.
  6. Hi all, Just got myself a 2007 is220d which i love since converting from Blue Oval, and have lurked around the forum for the past few weeks. Looks like a good forum to be on with helpful advice (sometimes lmao) and a nice friendly feel to it. Here's my ride 😃 110k miles with a service history, 4 brand new tyres, serviced one month before i got it and everything works perfectly. Bought it as spare or repair as it was chucking out some smoke from the back, she was driving it short distance to work so guessed it was the DPF. I've given it a good boot to clear out the soot but then discovered a smell of fuel inside the cabin and some smoke from under the bonnet. After an investigation i found a small fuel leak from the pipe that goes to injector #1... Hoping its not going to be too bad a fix or too expensive.
