  1. Hi, I agree but wanted to do the job property. My other car, a Mazda had its cat removed in a Mazda dealers car park and Mazda advised that they don’t supply cats for the model. There was a chance I would have had to buy a generic one but after reading on various forums I thought the OEM genuine ones better/longer life. Too many stories online of generic ones failing the next MOT or within two years and then having to go through the cost and time of replace it again. I might get the badges changed to a GS 300 to see if that makes a difference. The thieves took a good look at the boot lid before jacking the car up..
  2. Yes your right the other two cats are on a 45 degree angle just coming out of the rear of the engine bay fire wall. Hard to access without removing the entire engine. The two they cut are mid section.
  3. My insurer agreed the replacement costs this morning (a few pounds under £3,000) which included the heat shield which they cut in a few places. The shield not only reflects heat downwards from the exhaust system and away from the body but also helps to protect the orange high voltage cable which runs the length of the car to the hybrid batteries. If this cable is damaged by their cutting the car is a write off. I reached out to part suppliers in Japan who confirmed what my dealer had earlier advised. Shocking given the last of the 3rd generation GS model sold in the U.K. in 2012. Once my GS is repaired I’ll be trying to get a guard or shield fabricated with existing mounting points and bolts that sheer off once tightened. The shield has got to be hard to cut through and also allow ventilation when the car is moving or stationary in traffic and not so thick as to hit speed bumps. I wonder if anyone has tried to use carbon fibre for a shield and how tough it is to cut? Any advice or suggestions appreciated… I’ve also added some photos of the thieving £&@@ers workmanship.
  4. Hello, i too had mine stolen on Sunday at 12:30 a.m. got the five guys on cctv which the police are viewing. One stood outside with a baseball bat at the ready. Jacked up and stolen in less than 90 seconds. I've just had the cost of repair quoted to me from my local Lexus dealer at around £3,000. I had my Mazda done last August at a Mazda dealer in their car park. Lexus did warn me that if the high tension cable is also cut under the car the car will be a write off as Lexus no longer supply that part. Worrying to think Lexus won’t have parts for a 2010 model. Good luck with your repair. Now to find some kind of shield to protect mum replacement ...
  5. Hi, The car is going in later this week. I’ll give them the opportunity to carry out this smart repair and hope it doesn’t deteriorate overtime. Fingers crossed. My local Lexus dealer has been a really disappointment given their lack of good service and chasing up promised calls.
  6. Bought my GS 450H in March 2020 and took out an extended warranty prior to its 10th Anniversary I’d first registration. I've now been to my local Lexus dealer a number of times and each time there is an issue and meantime the two year warranty trundles on... I reported the dreaded noise from the dash three times and only last month did they finally agree there was an issue and agree to carry out work under warranty. Its been back twice now as I found after the repair the DAB radio stopped working, noises too now from centre console, hidden buttons tray wouldn’t open each time and the steering wheel screeched periodically when turning. Got the card back the second time to find find DAB radio now reconnected and working BUT centre of dash damaged... I’ve reported the damage and they took a photo and now plan to carry out a smart repair to the damaged area. I’m not really happy about this and would ideally like them to replace the whole dash. Am I being unreasonable? I’d appreciate some feedback.
  7. Hello Gents and in particular Old Trout. I saw you had a 2007 GS after my post. Sorry I missed it. I have returned to my owners manual publication OM30B56E Part Number 01999-30B56 printed 01-0909-00 so I assume in September of 2009. On page 84 it has the same instructions as posted by member ERROR above but for the life of me I still can’t manage to associate the seat, steering wheel and exterior position settings associated in the memory of button two on the drivers side door to my second, alternative key fob for my partner. After my attempt I then moved the drivers seat back to the furthest position away from the steering wheel and then locked the car and walked away some distance. I returned pressing on the drivers door handle, opening the door but didn’t get any response from the seat to move to the memory setting associated with button 2. Has Old Trout anything to add on how he programmed both his fobs? As he has a 2007 prior to the facelift in 2009 I’m wondering if the subtle changes to the GS at the time (new rear lamps, front grill, headrest operation change, Sat Nav hard drive, removal of the cassette player etc) might have also removed the opportunity to tie a second fob to seat positions etc from buttons 2 or 3? Thinking of phoning various Lexus dealers but expect they won’t have any interest to reply for a car now out of production.... and don’t get me started on dash noises that the Lexus dealer can’t hear....
  8. Hello, Thanks for your replies. I have tried this keeping only my partner's fob with me and leaving my fob well away from the car. What I've found is when pressing the memory button on the door after successfully programming it and then pressing the lock or unlock on the fob, there is no beep sound to confirm the successful registration of that fob with the memory settings. Even after the successful programming of my own fob with the memory positions there was no beep sound to confirm I had been successful. I just tested it and it worked. As part of my service today Lexus replaced both fob batteries so a dud fob battery is not to blame. I've tried the above directions with no success.... I wonder if the CT and later phase 4 (from 2012 onwards) of the GS have an enhanced fob/memory system allowing for more than one to be registered? As you both appear to have 2016 models that could be it? I hope a Phase 3 GS owner will add their comments?
  9. I have a 2010 GS 450h. I am having problems setting up the 2nd remote fob. I’ve set my seat, steering wheel and mirror positions and applied them to memory 1 on the drivers side door. I’ve then been able to register these settings with my fob and all works as it should so when I approach the car and touch the exterior door handle the seat, steering wheel and mirrors change to accommodate me. The problem is I can’t seem to do the same for my partner and the 2nd remote key fob. I've programmed button two for all the seat, steering wheel and mirror positions but can’t get it to link with the second remote key fob. When visiting Lexus Edgeware today I was advised you can only register one key fob with memory settings! Is this true? It certainly doesn’t mention this in my owners handbook. My hope was to have as many as three fobs programmed along with the three memory switches on the drivers door. I can’t understand why Lexus would only tie the fob and memories to only 1 fob. I’d appreciate any confirmation of this issue. Cheers.
  10. Hello, Yes I’m still interested. I’ll private message you with my contact details. Thank you.
  11. Thanks Steven. I guess I’ll know if there is an issue developing when I go to start/warm the car up in another weeks time. The engine running constantly for around an hour was worrying when it normally turned off and on. It’s a shame the car isn’t being used but there is no where to drive with tier 4 restrictions. I can’t even take it for a jet wash as they are all closed nearby because of Covid.
  12. Yes in Park. Normally the engine could turn of and on but today it just ran constantly.
  13. Hello, Thanks for your feedback. I’m still sitting in the car here.... The energy monitor was not showing any charging but as I typed this is started on the battery from the engine. Some five light blue bars. I do have it maintained via my local Lexus dealer and also have an extended warranty so I hope that won’t be used! Cheers..
  14. Hi, I have a 2010 GS 450h with some 37,506 miles on the clock. During this period of lockdown I haven’t driven it much but on a weekly basis I sit in the car and start it up only turning it off after the engine has stopped warming up. I've noticed lately that it is taking a lot longer even though the temperature gauge is half way between hot and cold. I’n not running radio, heaters etc. Could this be due to battery condition? Hybrid or the twelve volt battery? Thanks for anything feed back.
  15. Hi, I’m wanting to install a aftermarket mirror folding module for the front side mirrors on my 2010 GS 450h. The PO-40 module is one that’s been discussed on this site. If there are any others do let me know. I’ve seen lots on E-bay but have no idea if they are worth considering. I wanted to learn if I need one for each side mirror or just the one to control both and where it would be installed? Also, and most importantly does anyone have the original installation instructions they could copy and send to me? Many thanks for any help. Cheers.
  16. Ah sorry! Still not quite up with forums here. I got a private message I thought from you suggesting I go ahead and replied but thought I was replying to Arqum....
  17. Hi Billnick, Where are you based? I'm really after two units suitable for the GS 450h ideally with installation instructions. I understand both side mirrors require an individual module installed in each front door. I’ve also got over a year of my Lexus extended warranty to go so won’t be fitting them straight away as I don’t want to void that. Cheers, Fenn

  19. Hello Arqum, Can I ask if you have one or two of these and are they suitable for a GS 450H? Cheers.
  20. Hi, Thanks for your reply. It is available for viewing? I understand from your profile you’re in London. I’m in NW London so wanted to learn if you are nearby? Thank you.
  21. Hello, I don’t know if you received my sticky note? Is this item still available for sale? Cheers.
  22. Oops sorry Lee! I saw you post Richard at the bottom of your last post on this subject and thought that was you. My apologies.
