  2. Hi guys i am considering buying a gsf and wondered what the ride was like, is it really harsh or quite comfortable have not had an opportunity to try one yet but the car is everything i want as long as the ride is not too stiff for long journeys. i would appreciate your thoughts on this. Thanks Bob.

    LS430 WANTED

Hi I am looking for a good 430 to buy, must have FULL service history and be in tip top condition with cream leather, would prefer a later car with low mileage. but this is not as important as the condition. I have no preference as far as colour goes as long as bodywork is all original and good. thought I would try on here as am sick of looking at dealers "immaculate" rubbish. So if any of you guys are considering parting with your pride and joy I would certainly be interested Regards Bob
  6. Car is at a independant dealer it has been his own personal vehicle he has agreed to get this done and i will wait and see what happens and if it corrects it
  7. Hi messi could well be right but it is something i personally have never heard of and just wanted a bit reassurance it was not a sign of something more sinister going on
  8. Hi all went to look at a 2007 LS460 today, car seemed fine apart from the steering wheel, which was off centre by about 5 or 10 degrees. just wondered if anyone had any opinions on this, the sales guy reckons the tracking just needs done but having read about steering rack problems am just a bit concerned. I must say the car drove fine with no warning lights and steering felt okay.
  9. Hi guys just an update on this situation, had the car in at my Lexus dealer and it turns out drivers rear suspension had collapsed so several hundred squids later all sorted and back to the way she was, cannot believe I drove all the way home from Belgium with it like this. according to the guy at Lexus the drivers side rear sphere was shot and had to be replaced, and on the invoice it was down as "replaced rear air suspension unit" at a cost of £635.37 + vat. a lot of cash I know but this is also a lot of car and I wouldn't swap it for anything. thanks for your help guys
  10. Hi my ls430 has developed a weird symptom, when driving at high speed e.g. motorways and I go over a rough bit of road the car is stotting about quite alarmingly, other than this it is behaving as normal. but as I say on rough stretches of road it is a two handed job to keep hold of it. just wondered if anybody had any ideas as to what could be causing this. thanks in advance Bob.
  11. Hi guys i have been looking at a ls430 2003 approved car at lexus, and on seeing underneath there seemed to be a bit of corrosion, mainly on the rear metalwork, ie the cross struts and the like , my question is this, are we talking normal for this type of car or should i be walking away. any advise would be appreciated.
  12. Could anyone tell me if it is normal for the LS gearbox to use a bit of transmission fluid. I have run the car daily for 6 months and the level has gone down from halfway between empty and full to the lower level mark in approx 8000 miles. It is due to be replaced but i am just a bit worried that this is not normal and this is an indication that something is wrong. many thanks in advance for any help on this matter.
  13. just recently my ls400 97 has developed a miss on one of the cylinders and am wondering if this could be down to plugs have only had the car 6month and a service is due shortly. or could it be something else any ideas on what to check ? thanks.
  14. could anyone tell me what tyre pressures i should use for 225/55/r17 97w as the book that came with the car has pressures only for 16" wheels. any help would be appreciated. the car is an LS400 1997. thanks bob.
  15. Hi guy's i've only had my ls400 for three or four weeks and did'nt get a hand book with it so can anyone tell me how you dip the transmission oil. i,e do you dip it warm or with engine cold, with engine running or stopped. i have ordered the book but want to check it a.s.a.p. so any help would be welcomed. thanks bob.
  16. Mine does it too, that's why you cannot shift from park without your foot on the brake pedal, mine accelerates without touching the throttle pedal at cold idle. Wait for the ice and snow that's when the fun begins if you don't have traction control! ( fortunately my import does) Steve. thanks for that guy's i have'nt had a lot of dealings with auto's and just wondered if this was normal and yes i can see it being a lot of fun in the winter regards bob.
  17. hi all, have just bought my first ls400 WOW! absolutely fantastic car, cannot believe how good these vehicles are. I have one question if any of you could throw any light on it, when started from cold and the engine is ticking over a bit faster than when warm and i engage drive with the brake applied the car try's to lurch forward quite strongly, no clunk's or anything but quite a severe lurch against the brakes is this normal?. i expect a little more of a surge because of the increase in rev's and the softness of suspension but this really is to my mind quite exessive. once the car has run for a few min's and the rev's drop everything is normal and this does not happen. As i say i dont know if this is just because of the strength of the V8 or if something is needing adjustment but any opinions would be welcome. thanks bob. oop's think i've managed to post this in the wrong section sorry.
  18. i was wondering if any of you guy's on here knew of an independant garage or mechanic with a good knowledge of the ls400 in the cumbria/northeast areas where i could get servicing and repairs carried out at a more reasonable cost than lexus is offering. any help would be appreciated regards bob.
  19. can anyone tell me what sort of milage you could expect to get out of the is200 engine before major surgery was required assuming all relevent servicing was kept up. just wondered as mines coming up 100k now with full lexus history thanks bob
  20. anybody know where the best as in cheapest place to get a cat from for an ls400 1992 have just been quoted £1500 off lexus. me thinks you guy,s must know where they are cheaper ?. have tried my local motor factors but he aint even got em listed.
  21. why i asked about auto boxes is that in the past i had a lot of bother with a honda legend auto with 180k miles on it and the bill came to over £1800 and it sort of makes you wary about auto,s with high miles after something like that
  22. hope some of you guy,s can reasure me i,me doing the right thing. i,me just about to buy an ls400 93 plate 134k full lexus history and EVERYTHING works, its my first lexus and have been digesting your site for a few weeks now. the only thing i ca,nt find much about is the reliability of the auto boxes on high milers and having had problems with auto boxes in the past am looking for a little reasurrance off the people who will know, i.e. the guys who run them so any help on this matter would be much appreciated. many thanks in advance, bob.
