  1. Everywhere I read said that the DMF would go at about 100,000 miles so I decided to just change it now to prevent any future hassle. Only reason I went for the SMF rather than DMF was because it was far cheaper. In terms of driving I don't notice much of a difference. It's definitely revs a little quicker but not substantially. There are a fair bit more vibrations between 2500rpm and 3000rpm where it seems to resonate but for me it's no louder than the exhaust note anyway. Obviously all cars flywheels will wear out at different rates so I can't really say for sure whether you should replace it too or not.
  2. I recently needed to buy a new clutch and flywheel for my 2005 IS250 and was shocked to find out it was damn near impossible to get the oem parts for under £1,000. After much research I decided to go with a solid mass flywheel kit from EXEDY. Unfortunately these are manufactured in Australia and the only UK seller I could find was techniclutch on eBay. I decided to go ahead with it as I didn't really have much other choice, and it was £200 cheaper than buying from Australia. After 9 days with no update on the order even having been dispatched I decided to google the company (which was something I really should have done to begin with). I found forum after forum complaining that the company had scammed them in various different ways. After discovering this I immediately opened a dispute with eBay that the item had not arrived and specifically stated that if the order had not been dispatched yet I'd like to cancel it. This dispute gave the seller 10 days to respond before eBay would get involved. Naturally they only responded the day before the deadline telling me it would be with me the next day, ignoring the fact I had asked them to cancel it. 5 days later a parcel finally arrived. I had low expectations but I still had a glimmer of hope that they might have sent the correct part. This was not the case. In the box was a clutch with the code DT-170 on it. Surprisingly this is the correct clutch for the car but did not include half of what I ordered. This part costs roughly £60 on its own, I ordered the kit for £1,100. I immediately opened a return request on eBay as the item was not as described, giving the seller 7 days to send me a postage label before eBay close the dispute in my favour and what do you know, they once again waited for the last day before sending me the return label. I posted the same day and finally got my money back another 7 days later. All in all I was out of £1,100 pounds for over a month while my cars clutch slipped more and more each day as I was unable to shell out another grand to get it fixed before I got my money back. Finally once I got my money back I was able to buy the parts elsewhere which ended up being far cheaper too. Long story short, google eBay sellers before buying from them and never ever waste your time on techniclutch.
  3. In the end I managed to figure it out but not without tons of hassle. Long story short, after being let down by techniclutch on ebay, who straight up tried to steal my money, I ended up buying a clutch replacement kit for around the same cost as yours from Euro Car Parts along with a solid mass flywheel for $300 from a company called pgear in Taiwan. Thankfully the clutch kit and flywheel arrived quite quickly and installed easily according to my mechanic. I know some people have had reservations about using a solid mass flywheel with an unsprung clutch but I have put over 2,000 miles on mine with no issues as of yet.
  4. I'm encountering the same issue with my is250. The clutch is slipping in higher gears and is definitely due replacing. As the car has 105000 miles i don't see the point in not changing the flywheel while the clutch is getting done as it's probably on it's last legs anyway. The problem is I can't for the life of me even find anywhere that sells the dual mass flywheel nor an afternarket solid flywheel even. I'm really stuck at this point as I've only had the car a few months I really don't want to sell it on for a massive loss but I cannot figure out where to go from here.
