As far as I know, I'm sure I will be corrected if I'm wrong. The Lexus IS200 is a 6 pot 153 BHP The Toyota Altezza is a 4 POT pushing around 210 BHP. The UK IS200's generally have a higer spec, although there are tezza's out there with all the toys. I have an IS200 Sport, but given the choise I'd have an RS200/Altezza. The joys of being 20.......Insurance !

There are no major issues to look out for. The fuel is quite a big hit, bare in mind you're going to want to put Branded fuel in, rather than untreated super market stuff. I average about 110-120 miles on £20 of Texaco Standard and about 100 miles on £20 of Texaco super. Servicing is expensive when going to main dealers, if you buying second hand and its over 3 years old, get it done privately. Parts aren't a worry, they generally don't go wrong, if they do, generally about the same price as any other car. Beleive me, I'm skint every month after paying out on the loan and insurance, but when you drive down the road and watch the heads turn you will grin from ear to ear! Await the perfect strangers telling you how nice your car is ! You won't look back ! - You may a week before pay day tho! The performance is ok, I'm only 20 so there's not a lot I can get thats any quicker, but I won't be happy until i've got 300 horses under the bonnet. Don't bother with the S model if you can afford better, go for a sport, tints and polished stuff etc. Get a black one!

I'd prob go independant, suppose it'll still cost a fortune! Just peeved I can't get a tez or supercharge my 200. Why didn't they make a manual 300!! -

I'm just a bit bored with the power of my 200 now. I'm only 20 so can't insure any mods, yet can quite happily insure a uk is300 and an import!! I really want an altezza, clearly makes sence I can have a 300 import but not a tez

Hi everyone, I keep toying on the idea of importing a US IS300, has anyone done it, or anyone know of anyone thats done it? The only boo boo is the left hand drive factor ! Really want a 300 manual + they're so much cheaper out there!

I called the bodyshop today who did the repairs. The guy I spoke to said they have the report from Lexus but he needs to check with his manager wether or not he can fax them to me, as they made the payment to Lexus for the work.. Correct me if I'm wrong.....Its my car !! Its as if they're trying to hide something ! I'm gonna keep nagging ! Thanks for your patients.

As some of you may recall, back in November / December time last year some one kindly smashed into the offside of my car. At the time, Westover Body Care, Lexus Poole's authorised dealer repaired the car, replacing the whole suspension assembly and steering rack. I had my new 18" Toora 5 Platinums put on (Khumo Tyres) and a four wheel alignment done by Lexus. The car was MOT last weekend and passed, but the MOT centre pointed out the abnormal wear on the inside off the offside front tyre. The inside couple of inches have warn down to just over the legal limit, where as the rest of the tyre has stacks of grip left. I contacted Lexus and their reaction was that it's quite a common problem on the IS200 and he's seen it happen to tyres in less than 2500 miles. They're being quite stubbern over this as the wheels aren't Lexus OEMs, yet your still able to buy an IS200 with 18's on??? The bodyshop have been very understanding and reasonable about this so far and said they will contact the mechanic who did the work on Wednesday, and have said they will try and offer a free 4 wheel alignment to check. They tell me they have records of the laser alignment and the car passed fine. Can anyone offer advice on this as there's no way I'm replacing my 18" tyre every few months!! I managed to hit 139 with std wheels (tested on my dads south columbian runway). About 128 with 18's.

I am in the same boat. Lexus Poole are asking around £380 + VAT. My local AA service centre will do it for £170 and follow Lexus' schedule exactly! Car's out of warranty so not too fussed.

Maybe he wanted "Lexus Lights" on his nova? :D

I'm so jealous, I want one!! Insurance company want an additional £1600 a year, making my premium £3200 a year. Ish don't think so!
