  1. FYI my dealership installed this unit for me first and I suggest sending it back ASAP because it is terrible. Touchpad doesn't work (no cursor, you only have 2 directional control) and you have to restart the factory navigation every time you wanna switch back to the factory infotainment. I'm also looking at aftermarket units. The best ones I found were from Lsailt and GROM.
  2. Thanks! The dealership has no idea. They kind of scammed me when they sold me the car, stating that it had CarPlay. We're now trying to find a solution for retrofitting somehow.
  3. Hi all, I'm looking for a professional advice. I have a 2018 European LC 500. As you probably know, one major problem with that is that the CarPlay retrofit for pre-2020 LC500s have never been released in Europe and probably never will. I'm thinking about getting a 2021 LC500 head unit and installing it to my 2018 model in the hope of getting factory CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. Will this work?
  4. Thanks. I'm simultaneously contacting the dealer and the local distributor (e.g. Lexus Switzerland). The arrogant person is the Manager of Customer Relations of Lexus Switzerland, I think it'd be problematic to contact his manager. My legal advisor also says that it might indeed be hard to get a replacement car, though my case is more complicated than mere technical defects. My car broke down on the road a few months ago due to the failure of the low-pressure fuel pump. I learnt that it was addressed in a global recall campaign, even before they sold me this car. They didn't carry out this fix before delivery, putting my life at risk. They also lied about Apple CarPlay Support (they told me that this model has it while it doesn't), and they delivered the car with 3 years old tires. So I have a good list of things to complain about. I was really patient with them up until last Friday, when they told me that they weren't able to repair the car (for 2 weeks), but they encouraged me to drive it home. They assured me that the problem won't cause a breakdown -- despite they have no clue what the root cause is. I refused to accept this (I'll not risk a 1000+ km road trip to my family), and I insisted on them continuing the investigation. I ended up buying an airline ticket and staying without a car during the holidays. Today I sent a formal letter to the dealership and to Lexus Switzerland in which I ask them to provide with a replacement, and I elaborate the rationale behind the request. It's probably up to the goodwill of Lexus whether they fulfill it. IMO the way they handle the case with my car is a total customer relations failure. I'd also be fine if they found an LC 500 with a similar mileage and exchanged mine for that. Also, I'm really tired of reporting these technical issues. Usually I have to visit a workshop at least 2 times before they take a warranty claim seriously, even if I provide them with video evidence and documentation about consistent reproduction. If the car has 1-2 minor issues per year this is tolerable, but being a regular guest in the workshop this has been super exhausting. I've ultimately lost my trust in the car, and the enjoyment of driving a new flawless vehicle (that IMO is included in the price) was taken away from me.
  5. The steering was fixed, but after driving the car for a couple of hundred kilometers it got skewed again, despite driving super careful. They keep asking money for wheel/steering alignment as it's not covered by the warranty. I've done it 4 times already. The Swiss customer relations manager is super arrogant. They talk about giving me a free rental car for the time of the repairs as some kind of courtesy I should be happy about. When I told them that I'm discriminated as a customer because I'm paying the same money for a faulty car compared to customers who bought a perfect car for this money, he told me that those other customers could say they are discriminated because they don't get these free repairs I'm getting. I found the address of the Toyota Head Office in Brussels and in Japan, but these are very big offices, and I'm afraid my letter would get lost. I'd prefer targeting it more specifically to a department.
  6. I'm having outrageously many problems with my LC 500 that I bought in late June brand new. The car has been out of my possession for a total 1/4 of the time since then due to a variety of technical issues: * Front brakes were replaced due to abnormal squealing. * Rear brakes were replaced due to abnormal squealing. * Breakdown due to fuel pump failure. * Low engine oil level at 8000 km. * Skewed steering that was attempted to get fixed multiple times without success. * Resonations in the left door due to insufficiently installed cables. * Resonations from the engine/fuel injection system at 1500 RPM. Now I'm spending my Christmas without a car, because it's under repairs once again. I filed a request to my dealer and the local distributor (Lexus Switzerland) to replace the car entirely. I really doubt they'll do that, so I want to escalate this case further. I'd like to send a written report of the case to the European HQ and possibly the global one in Japan. Do you have an address and a department in mind I can target this to? Thanks in advance!
  7. I submitted my complaints to the local Toyota HQ regarding the dealership messing up my wheel alignment. They reached out to the dealership. They say that my car was probably damaged and this is why they couldn't properly align the wheels. They state this because the plastic right side spoiler had some scratch and it was taken off to be repainted by the time I took the car for wheel alignment. This case is getting ridiculous.
  8. I'm in Hungary now, but I live in Switzerland. I've been using fuel from the same 2 stations, both are 100 octane performance fuels. I've only noticed this strange change in the engine sound after the issue popped up, I think it's not correlated with the fuel I use.
  9. I attempted to record the engine sound in neutral around 1500 and 2000 RPM. Do you also think it sounds off? https://photos.app.goo.gl/NwWkviq3SdME38EM6
  10. I contacted the local Lexus HQ for complaints. Despite this car is virtually brand new, I had to spend the last 1+ month with weekly visits to the dealership. I had a front brake replacement, realigned wheels, the fuel pump / engine fault thing. The attitude of the dealership is very dissatisfying either.
  11. Hi all! I had a serious engine problem with my LC 500 recently. The car stopped reacting to the gas paddle while on the road, the engine had some hiccups, and then it stopped with an error message. After that the car wouldn't start. Upon attempting to start the engine, the crankshaft was spinning, but it wouldn't start. I managed to shoot a video of this (watch here). I also managed to shoot a video when the engine stopped working (watch here). After a couple of hours of rest, the engine somehow started and I was able to park the car in a safe spot. At the garage they said it was a fuel pressure problem, and they replaced the fuel pump (actually I was eligible for a replacement due to a recall). Since then the engine still feels unhealthy: I think its startup is longer than it used to be. In neutral, it produces a noticeable rattling noise in the background. When accelerating on lower speeds, the once super clear engine note is now accompanied by a rhythmic deep overtone (a bit like as if it was a diesel engine). There are no error codes, so the dealer wouldn't do anything. Any ideas? I suspect that it wasn't the fuel pump, I really want to get this fixed, before the car stops on the motorway.
  12. Today they recalibrated the VGRS and configured the horizontal position of the steering wheel. It seems to be good now.
  13. Honestly at this point I'm kinda desperate. I've been at 3 different wheel alignment workshops by now, I'm getting the same vague theories everywhere: tires, the camber of the road etc. Ever since I brought my car to the dealership for an alignment the power steering feels inconsistent, something is a bit off with the ride, and the car drifts right. Everybody looks at me as if I went mad. I've only driven this car 5K miles so far so I think it's a fair expectation that on a straight, flat surface it should go straight as long as I hold the steering wheel horizontal. I got an appointment for resetting the power steering system at a Toyota garage on Monday (thanks for the suggestion). Let's see if that helps.
  14. Hi mighty Lexus fellas, I recently had a wheel alignment (in an official dealership) on my LC 500 Sport+. The car used to slightly lean left. When I got it back I noticed the steering had become stiffer, and it was leaning right (e.g. when I hold the steering wheel straight the car goes right slightly). I took it to a professional garage specialized for wheel alignments with lasers and whatnot. They said the angles had been restored to factory positions and the steering wheel position is perfectly horizontal. Yet the car still leans right noticably, and I think the steering wheel has become harder to turn especially on lower speeds. Any ideas? The wheel alignment dude told me that it might be a miscalibrated steering angle sensor, but the dealer says it's impossible. I'm really frustrated because it's a virtually new car. In the attached picture you can see the "straight" position of the steering wheel.
