  1. Thanks for the thought. I always put it in park before switching off. Are you saying that even though it's in park a sensor might be saying otherwise. I assumed that when the little security led is blinking it meant that all is off.
  2. On a brighter not a brilliant AA guy got me in using a couple of thin air bags to spring the door at the top and a long hooked rod to putt the bonnet catch. From there it was plain sailing to jump the emergency terminals and with new power open the door and get the car to start and recharge the battery
  3. Nope the barrel turns easily but nothing is happening inside the door. My guess is that it's never been used from new and is all gummed up.
  4. Worse still ive come to it next morning car locked and I imagine battery is flat. Key does not open drivers door. How do I get in?
  5. I have two keys and so when this problem occurred I fitted new batteries to them but still it persists. I can get in the car, hold down the brake and press start - everything powers up and I can drive it fine. When I stop, I press the power button, the dash turns off and the red security system led flashes periodically which presumably confirms that the power is off. However, when I get out of the car it beeps and I can see through the window that it says 'Key not detected' if I press the fob to lock the car the message chages to 'Turn off power' !!! Another symptom may be that when I undo seat belt the seat is not powering back as usual but if i move it manually and then press the seat memory button on the door it does power to correct position. I cannot lock the car although if I leave it for an hour and press the lock button on the fob from about 20 feet away, it does then lock and folds mirrors. Is there a system reset or should I disconnect and reconnect 12v battery in rear. What on earth is happening
  6. I thought I was doing it as per the handbook. Am I missing something? My handbook just says if the Ready does not appear when you press the start button whilst brake pressed and gear in park, then contact dealer. Not awfully helpful
  7. Voltage looks ok, but admittedly I'm only doing short journeys at the moment. I suppose I could put it on charge and see if the situation improves.
  8. I have 2009 Rx450 but it has started an anoying problem. Normally when I get in and buckle toe seat belt, the seat moves forward and the steering column lowers, but recently about 1 in 10 times I get in the car and on buckling the seat belt nothing happens. If I put my foot on the brake and press the start button the instruments light up but I dont get the 'Ready' light. The gearchange is released but if I put it in drive, I just get a message to 'Put it in Park to Start'. Of course putting it back in park has no effect. All I can do is keep pressing the Start button until everything switches off, get out of the car and lock it, then I can unlock, get in and usually all is normal again although sometimes the steering column moves but not the seat, however I can move the seat by button and drive the car as normal. Anyone ever had this or know what its a symptom of?
  9. Thanks that's interesting, though in truth I'm not sure why I would want to inhibit the fog lights just because I'm towing.
  10. With the Witter bar you have to cut the under tray of course but not the bumper. Is that the same as the Westphalia? The break-in connector is interesting, I wonder if Westphalia sell the electric kit separate from the tow bar. Dave
  11. I've just bought a 2009 RX450h and the first job j need to do is fit a towbar. I intend fitting the Witter one as it avoids cutting the bumper but my query regards fitting the electrics. On YouTube I saw a video of a 2910 US spec which has a white connecting plug on the loom under the right hand boot trim panel. I haven't taken my boot apart yet so I'm hoping someone can tell me if my 2009 UK model is likely to have the same plug. If so what are the pinout details. If not what are the loom wire colours that j need to connect to. There seems to be a wide variety of prices between model specific and non specific wiring kits but none of them have details of the connecting method. Any advice welcome. Dave
