  1. Yep Lucas is right, ive owned imports now for over 20 years and currently pay about £170 for my DC2 Integra-R and its not on specialist insurance. I think if you got back to when the floodgates opened with JDM cars comming over on mass, insurance companies where caught cold and bumped their prices up or wouldnt insure which will be what Linas is talking about. The other myth at the time being you couldnt get parts from UK dealers, i can only speak for Honda here but my local dealer always accomodated me, including have JDM headlight bulbs in stock. Rob
  2. I am now on my third windscreen after 2 'failures' within the first 2 years of ownership where nothing significant appeared to hit my screen. Both of my screens had to be fitted at the service centre due to the recalibration needing done, the second one being non oem. Also the non oem screen has now lasted by far the longest out of the 3 screens so i wouldnt worry about specifying an OEM one. Im more concerned why these screens seem to break so easily bearing in mind i roll along to work and back at 56-60mph on a straight road with light to no traffic and never close enough to the car in front to catch any crap it throws up. On the flip side my Integra-R, now on over 200k miles is still on its 26 year old original Oem windscreen, probably spends 90% of the time over 60mph and sits much lower than the lexus. Also the integra-r windscreen is significantly thinner than a standard integra screen, so i can only conclude they dont make windscreens like they used to. Rob
  3. Hi Derek, I will let you know tomorrow for sure as i only access the forum from work but im pretty sure they both ended up LV. Rob
  4. Yes Lucas thats a good point, I use a local broker that discounts for select local postcodes. they just send me a letter once a year with the deal they have found and i just say yes and pay over the phone. I remember when i moved up here from Glasgow i had a Honda CRX and i got a quote after searching myself and best a could get was Norwich Union for about £530, a neighbour mention a local broker (4 doors down from me), so i walked round and spoke to them. 30 minutes later i walked out with my new insurance certificate freshly printed for £269, and the insurer was Norwich Union ! Rob
  5. My Lexus insurance went up from £362 to £379, but then my Integra Type-R insurance went down from £190 to £171 Rob
  6. Its just another way the government bleaches you of all your hard earned wedge, Ironically i could have got the same car in Silver for exactly the same price 36k, but the tax would have still been over £500 as it goes by the manufacturers book price and not the price you actually pay. Rob
  7. I had this when i ordered my IS300H F Sport in 2019. Narrowed my colour choice down to grey or silver then fortunately the dealer told me that the grey one would be £120 to tax and the silver one would be over £500. Totally bonkers as it would have physically been the same car, just silver paint was £300 dearer. Guess what colour i picked Rob
  8. Yes Ronnie you right they are legally bound to compensate you for not turning up or cancelling a late appointment. I ended up getting nearly 18 months free broadband and line rental from Virgin media as they kept not showing up to dig a hole in the road and install my fibre broadband. Better still i never had to chase them up for it, they just emailed me with my re-calculated bill. Rob
  9. Hi Julian, It does sound like a wheel bearing though they dont always behave the same when failing. Having just replaced 3 in the space of a year in my integra the noise i had was a droning noise with a mild thud that gets proportionally louder with vehicle speed. Also if you think its a front left, find a small roundabout at a quiet time and drive round it and the noise should get worse as your putting more load on that side of the car. Outwith that jack up the car and spin the wheel and it should feel a bit rough compared to doing the same with the right front. IMHO ith wont have anything to do with driving over something. Rob
  10. Hi Dave, Yes you can just start a new Maintenance package when that one ends. Im sure your dealer will give you the options at your final service as mine did when my 3 year one ended. I started a new 2 year one when my 3 year one ended Rob
  11. Hes posted it in the IS300H, IS 250 and IS200T forum and he has an IS250, just sayin Rob

  13. Sorry i meant no notable difference to fuel economy. Just shows how different we all are, i gave up on eco 4 years ago as i find the sluggish pickup borderline dangerous. I also dont pay much attention to fuel economy. Rob
  14. 300h F-Sport here and ive been getting 46 ish for last 6 months daily driving, Always in sport mode with Air con on. Ive never found that eco makes any noticeable difference and on long runs the best ive had is 49 Rob
  15. I use a bottle of redex every year on my Integra as it used to fail its MOT on emissions and the Garage told me to put a bottle in, go away and cane it about for 20 mins and bring it back. It would then pass. Whats important to note is that its a Jap import that only runs on Premium fuel so redex is doing something that fuel additives in premium fuel dont. All that said i was also asked by my Lexus dealer if i wanted fuel cleaner during my service which i agreed to, though i doubt they did it as they dont seem to do anything much when i give them it for a service.
