  1. I now have the car back from Lexus and it is working well. For others having the same issues, transmission oil pump change is what has resolved mine. Annoying and costly, but once you get back in the GS450h, your smile will be back in no time 🙂 Again, grateful for this community and the contribution of it's members.
  2. Just wanted to keep everyone updated as to what has happened so far. The issue with the car is indeed the transmission oil pump according so thank you everyone for your suggestions. I have made a lot of effort to find someone who can help with the cheaper fix that is known to work by replacing the worn bearing on the pump but no luck. So, it looks like a brand new one it is. Lexus have quoted £1900 to do the job and a 2 weeks wait for part to arrive!!!!!!
  3. You should see the smile on my face for this reaponse. Cant wait to give him a call. Thank you!!!!!!!!
  4. Car drove fine to work today and for some reason, the hybrid worked. It is like nothing happened apart from the check hybrid message on the dashboard. Planning to take it to the garage next week to see what they say. My concern is that the garage is not a lexus specialist and I have realised it is always good to use someone who knows about these cars. So again, any recommendations around London or Essex area is welcome.
  5. As I planned to take this car to work tomorrow, I thought I'll take it for a spin tonight to see if it's doable tomorrow. The car did a 10 miles return journey fine. I noticed the cruise control did not work, it'll only speed up to 80mph but not past that mark. The hybrid really is the thing that makes the car fast and I quickly realised the confidence you get from the feeling that you can join a motorway quickly etc is gone as the car is just slower to respond. I think the car will be fine for work tomorrow but I'll appreciate some support or recommendation from anyone who has had this experience or knows where to definitely fix this in Essex/London area. Thanks
  6. Hello all, previously came to this forum when my GS450h was throwing codes P0420 and P0430. Catalytic converter issues diagnosed and few weeks later, 2 Cats were replaced. Took the car for the first proper spin on a return journey from London to Liverpool yesterday and the car ran fine (500 miles appox). In my mind, the issue is now resolved and all is good. This morning during school run, Check Hybrid light came on, check VSC, Check ECB. However, the car behaved differently this time. It more or less stopped but thankfully I was in traffic so no drama caused. I shifted into P, started the car again and it worked but the car felt heavier and I noticed the hybrid did not work. On my way back, I started the car and although the Check hybrid was on, the hybrid worked and then few minutes later, it kind of lost power. Restarted the car and it worked with no hybrid power. I have just plugged in my OBDII and it says P2792. Meant to be driving to work tomorrow, about 40 miles round trip and I'll appreciate your words of wisdom, advice or signpost to a garage in the London/Essex area. Thank you. 8f3e5614-d16c-4fcc-a8d5-1454e401e437.jfif
  7. I am attaching some pictures to visualise the issue but the key thing was to say thanks to all of you that responded. It took a while but I think it is now sorted. I have had the cats replaced and the warning lights are gone. Thank you all for your help and suggestions. Also, the car feels quieter as well, although this may be a placebo effect. 0d7113cd-dd46-4a5f-a68b-be78829b9ba3.jfif
  8. Thanks for this explanation. By the way, is replacement the next step or can this be cleaned?

  10. Honestly, I don't know what it means apart from the literal interpretation that it is blocked. The car still works and no further random flashing of lights apart from the engine management light.
  11. UPDATE: Just wanted to thank you all. I took the car to the garage and I have been informed that the catalytic converter is blocked. The gentleman rang me earlier today that he can get a used one for around £550 from a reliable garage where they break down GS450s but it may take a few weeks for it to arrive. I was reassured that it is safe to drive and I'll be called once it has arrived. I will use this opportunity to drive it and see if the multiple error codes come up again. So far nothing yet. I will keep the group upated.
  12. Thank you all, I have just started the car and there was no check VSC, ECB or HYBRID SYSTEM light on. The only light on is a small yellowish amber engine management light. I also just connected an OBDII fault reader. There were 3 faults in total with one pending. I have left the codes on and did not delete them. Any clues would be helpful P0420 P0430 P0420 (Pending)
  13. Hello all, Bought this GS450H which has been nothing but exciting. I was so excited about the performance and the Lexus reliability that I decided to spend a bit of money to fix things like suspensions, completed a major service with Lexus etc The car still has full Lexus service history and 1 more service left with Lexus next year. Few weeks ago, the CHECK ECB AND CHECK VSC lights came on which apparently was the ABS pump. I had this replaced and the lights were gone. All of a sudden, I was sat in the car waiting for the Mrs to finish some shopping and left the car running for sometime listening to music. Switched off the car to help with shopping and on restarting, all thesame light came on (CHECK ECB AND CHECK VSC) but this time it came with the CHECK HYBRID SYSTEM. It went off by itself and all was fine. A week later the lights just came on again but the car was behaving fine and driving with no issues. Yesterday, it miraculously only had the CHECK HYBRID LIGHT on with the VSC and ECB gone. Today, all lights off again. Any advice on next steps would be highly appreciated. I've spent a little on the car as I was planning to keep it till it dies then get one of the last models. However, I am coming from a BMW and I have enough experience with money pits so very reluctant to spend more on especially if it's the beginning of the end. Thank you
  14. I forgot to add that it says EML Light on p0430 cat system below eff b2 possibly caused by slight exhaust blow near ox sensor
  15. Took car in for MOT and got given a bill of over £3000! Failed MOT because of rear suspension leaking badly which I'll have to get done at a cost of £564. Exhaust front pipe leaking will cost £2319 to fix. How much cheaper can this be done at a non lexus dealer or is it better to do it at Lexus?
  16. Thank you John. Do you know of any reason why the car would have windows down though? A battery low somewhere?
  17. Shocked Just been to the local Sainsburys, parked up and went inside to buy some groceries. Came back, got in the car and noticed the passenger side window was half way down 😱 I thought let me start the car and wind in up and I was greeted by a message saying moon roof is open 😱😱 After starting the car, I tried to wind up the windows and it won't work 😱😱😱. I realised the window lock switch was on, I switched it off and everything worked as normal. I was still concerned, so I went into the Sainsburys and spoke to security so I can view the CCTV. They tried but I was parked away from view. The gentleman said and I quote "catalytic converters gets stolen in this car park every other day, especially on Japanese cars". He proceeded to say they might have tried to steal the catalytic converter but were unsuccessful as it only takes 2 minutes. The car started and I drove home okay. I am now planning to take it to the garage at some point soon to raise it up and just check underneath. Any similar experiences? Could it have been something else and no one tried to steal anything? Am I overreacting?
  18. Thanks for the feedback! Sounds like a good deal even at £130. I'll be taking the Mrs' car soon too.
  19. Interesting, let's hope the overall experience is positive. I was planning on taking the wife's car there too.
  20. Up to 8 times in any 2 year period and still cheaper than the £144 I paid at Lexus, WOW!!! Thanks for sharing.
  21. Thanks John for the additional insight! Nothing wrong with using this fuel till the fuel light comes on, then trying the Shell V Power.
  22. Overall, I've had some more opportunity to enjoy the car and my thoughts and views remain positive. I've been using the sport mode most of the time as it feels more manoeuvrable around town in this setting. Yet to use the power button though as the willingness to launch into crazy speed with ease feels remarkable on its own. I'll be testing the power button soon though... Lexus advised to use fuel with minimum octane rating of 91 and the regular unleaded fuel has 95 with super having 97. What fuel are you all using?
  23. I agree. I'm definitely not taking this off road and it rides fine to me. Although, in the absence of any local person who is experienced at working on these cars; for peace of mind and the sake of looking after the car, I might just change it once it needs new set of tyres.
  24. Yes, I have the prefacelift car with no aux. I have been using a cassette to aux for music and I have to say that I find the music quality very good. Only downside is the presence of a little creaking noise from the movement of the cassette player which is inaudible once the volume is around 18. Also, I bought a cheap one of the cassette to aux adapter which was temperamental but a qood quality Philips branded one works flawlessly - at least for now.
  25. Took the car in this morning. Very good social distancing observed by staff and the usual Lexus customer service that is usually talked about. Aftter the Lexus check, there was a list of recommended work as per the picture - 4 tyres, aircon, rear suspension, wheel alignment and fuel system flush. I've gone for fuel system flush and wheel alignment. Considering that the previous owner recently did alignment - my guess is that other shop may not have done a good enough job. My intention was to change the tyres but as the car has Goodyear tyres all round with good thread, I've decided to leave this alone for a while. Also, I already found Dunlop Sport Maxx RT2 Tyres with 69db, A rated grip and C rated efficiency that I was planning on purchasing from tyreshopper and I wasn't sure what Dunlop Lexus will put on. When I change the tyres, I'll do the NSR suspension. Total cost is £924, not bad.
