  1. I have to say that my experience with the Motorway way of buying cars was also great. We put our CHR up there and even though we were happy with their estimate, it achieved several hundred pounds more at the 'auction'. The guy that collected it from us checked over the car with a microscope, contacted the buying dealer and transferred the full amount into our account before the car left our drive.
  2. I should add that even though its not a Lexus, we have had a CHR hybrid and now a Mazda2 Hybrid for the past 4 years. I agree, to get the best out of it, you need a different style to driving, it makes you plan ahead, view the road, the traffic and accelerate/decelrate to optimise the car. This is one of the main reasons Im looking to Lexus. Luxurious, effortless and reliable, what more do you want?
  3. I share some frustration here. My wife had a brand-new car from a VW/Audi stablemate and it had electrical issues from day one. Back and forth, eventually they provided us with a courtesy car until rectified. Whilst driving my car, we saw my wife's car on the motorway, being driven at excessive speed and followed to a point where a 'test drive' was more than achieved - if indeed needed. An email to the dealer principal and their head office resulted in us rejecting the car and monies returned. We went back to Toyota then and never regretted it. Similarly, my BMW went into a dealer at the start of this year. Dashcam removed, no pulled off its adhesive mount, after the car was being driven off site - it went in for a valet wash before return. Dealer says removing dashcam is company policy - why didn't they do it on the last 2 visits? Car returned in a shocking finish to paintwork, even went back in for rectification and was still poor. In conclusion, Trust Pilot and BMW survey updated, will never step foot into that dealership again - even though this now means a 90 miles round trip to my alternative/nearest. BM have asked me in to consider 'an upgrade'... I am visiting the Lexus dealership on the same day. I don't think I'll make the same mistake twice 🙂 I sympathise with those who treat their cars well and not just a means to get from A 2 B. The dealerships in my opinion have grown too big in their portfolio and some are losing that personal touch. Just saying.
  4. Interesting read as yet again, I'm tempted into an RX. Currently using a BM... cough...W X3 2.0d which is returning around 42-45mpg. Not bad considering the performance it provides etc. There is however one factor to consider when moving from a diesel chariot to a petrol driven one nowadays. The gap between the cost/litre of diesel compared to unleaded has widened, to a point where if I move across to a RX, the cost of fuel per month for me is around the same, just using a green pump and not the black one. A few temptations out there at the moment. Looking at post 2019 so I get Android/Apple car play, other than that, best spec and colour I can find. I have my first drive in an RX when I go to the dealer next week. Q the drum roll!
  5. I have Roy. Carwow is on the house fav list and yep, this is one which I saw and helped me change direction.
  6. I'm in the position of wanting to change my BMW X3 and the RX is high on the list - no, top of the list. I haven't sat in one yet, I've seen a couple, read lots and I'm still convinced its the way to go. I've considered about every option, but the one thing that it comes down to is reliability and running costs. Quality tyre costs for an RX on a well known online retailer are the same as my wife's CHR. The BMW we are being offered has 20" wheels, run flats and nearly £100 a corner more expensive. My X3 uses a set a year at the moment, that's £1k a year inBMW tyres alone which balances out the slightly higher rate of servicing at Lexus. I think the other 'premium brand' cars are great if you are a company driver, or change the car every three years or less so always have a warranty to cover you. The forums don't instil confidence of longevity and as much as I wanted to keep my X3 when we bought it, my confidence levels are diminished, even though it only has 36k on it. I'm still looking, planning and keeping my options open. I've always been a keen driver and when I could afford it, bought cars I enjoy to drive (including 6 BMWs, a Subaru and the screaming 16v Vauxhalls of the 80's and 90's). Those days are over (according to my wife) and my glimmer of hope of changing her CHR for a Yaris GR have gone. I have to accept, the days have come for comfort, driver assist functions, safety and reliability 👴 Stay safe and well everyone.
  7. I've read a little about the new Rav plug in. It's labelled as the Prime in some countries and has a heck of a turn of speed - around 6.5s to 62 I believe? There's a few videos on line regarding it, however, there's also a concerning one which I picked up on yesterday. It failed the 'moose test' miserably. Check on line, there's also a thread that Toyota is adjusting the ASC software, but this may be a reason that the launch has been delayed in the UK? 450h 1 Rav 0 They think it's all over!!
  8. Reading the responses, that helps me in my quest too 👍
  9. Thanks everyone for your replies, really useful. I agree that the driving of the cars will provide me with a true picture, but as above, a BMW on run-flats is not the best and the ride in the CHR alone is testament to that. I'm sure the RX will be a relative magic carpet ride. In terms of fit and finish, as good as the new Rav seems to be, the Lexus in either guise is a step up. If it was a choice between a Rav and an NX, I would have to say the 5 year warranty, running costs and latest hybrid system alone would possibly sway me. However, to compare the RX and Rav is quite unfair as they aren't true 'competitors'. For me, with some rude calculations, the online PCP deal for a 2018/19 RX against a new Rav makes it the RX each time. Factor in the cost of the extended warranty (hope that 2 year deal will last!) and a tow bar (flippin' 'eck they're expensive) and I'm still on track for the RX 😀 I'll keep you up to date (still have to convince my better half), but I'm sure she'll be swayed when we get to drive one 👍
  10. That's strange, just put my mother's 16 year old car in and everything shows up? Sorry, not sure in that case

  12. Hi everyone, My first post, hopefully not my last! My BMW X3 - there, I said it, comes to the end of it's PCP deal next year and I am, as always, on the look out. As I am now a home worker and my mileage has dropped considerably, less than 6,000 a year, the MPG return no longer plays a big part in the decision. I have narrowed my choice down to a used Lexus RX, or a new Rav4 (bells and whistles). Not exactly like for like, but both hybrid, same stable, reliability assured and more likely I'll be let out at junctions! At this point I'll declare that 'my other car is a hybrid' - no sticker on the back bumper, but my wife chose a CHR last year, so the driving hybrid style is not new to us. This forum has helped me sway towards Lexus and looking at the online PCP deals on a car which is around 2018/2019, better value than a new Rav, or for that matter an NX. Why not an NX? I'm thinking for the same outlay and fuel consumption the RX trumps it - am I right, is there something I should know? Either way, the days of Bavarian motoring may be behind me and I'm getting used to imagining a Lexus RX on the drive. So I'll stop the ramble and would be so grateful if anyone could post a reply to the below: Is the cream/brown interior option as bad in the flesh as it looks on some of the dealers pictures? Should I push hard for the newer model, or have they remained largely similar I love my music, I would love to afford the ML system but may have to be content with the standard system - probably a subjective one, but are you happy with the 'standard' set up The blade LED headlights look cool, are they that much better than the single LED lamp - only asking as we live in a dark national park and good vision at night is paramount! Any other feedback is appreciated. In closing, having been the owner of a few brands of late I have always joined in on a forum. This has to be one of the most informative and up to date, I really hope the other half says yes - fingers crossed!
