  1. Hi HH47. I highlighted that exact same point regarding luxury car tax in a previous post . DVLA use the list price at the point of first registration to determine what tax is due. I was also trying to keep my build to under the 40k threshold but gave up when it became apparent that the two subsequent price increases by Lexus would take effect prior to me receiving the vehicle & therefore push the list price at registration to over 40k. This is not always highlighted by the dealership at time of purchase. An annoying addition expense! kind regards, Steve.
  2. I wouldn’t be confident that the luxury car tax would be avoided under these circumstances. Please see attached DVLA Vehicle Excise Duty form.(V149). It clearly stated the duty to be paid is established using the manufacture’s list price at the time of first registration. ( ie not at the point of purchase) With all the recent price rises from Lexus this would mean all new Lexus NX not currently registered will now be over the 40k threshold at the point of registration. v149-rates-of-vehicle-tax-from-1-april-2021-for-cars-motorcycles-light-goods-vehicles-and-private-light-goods-vehicles.pdf
  3. If you keep to the 2WD variant of the new NX300H with premium pack you can just sneak in under the 40k threshold with the option of adding some metallic paints too. Just be aware that if Lexus increase their list price again before you receive your new NX then the list price at the time of registration is what is used to calculate the tax & not the list price at the time of purchase . This could then result in you being liable for the luxury car tax. 👍
  4. The tax is based on the manufacture’s list price at the time of first registration & ignores any dealer discount. I have recently been down this route & discovered that it is not possible to buy a new NX loaded up with any additional packs without incurring the luxury car tax ☹️
  5. Forbes is spot on. That’s my exact point. Thanks for bringing us back on topic. I appreciate all the previous comments which are well made, but my simple objective was that I was attempting to avoid the additional expense of incurring the luxury car tax by keeping the list price of a new NX to under 40K. This is possible using the December 2021 price list but any new NX will be arriving in the UK long after the January 2022 price rise & therefore when first registered will now be above the 40K threshold. This is not made clear by the dealership & like a previous contributor said can catch you unawares if not fully informed. Thanks again for all your responses. Steve.👍
  6. Thanks for the replies guys. Seadoo 180 - no discount from dealer on the NX 350h with premium pack but a generous part exchange on my current NX . No deals on the new NX & no finance deposit allowance either if you take it on PCP ! I agree with comments from Richard1200- it would appear that even if you keep to the basic spec NX with a current list price under 40k that by the time it is delivered & registered next year the price increase due in January will have pushed the list price to over 40k & therefore subject to the additional VED. So it looks like there is no avoiding the Luxury car tax on the new NX . Will now rethink my purchase plans for the new NX - maybe wait for the FDA to be offered further down the line. Merry Christmas & thanks again for your replies. Steve.
  7. Thanks for the swift reply NemesisUK. The current list price for the new NX300H was quoted by the dealer at just under 40k using their current price list. The DVLA (Form V149 - attached) states they use the list price at the time of first registration not at the time of purchase- hence my confusion! v149-rates-of-vehicle-tax-from-1-april-2021-for-cars-motorcycles-light-goods-vehicles-and-private-light-goods-vehicles.pdf
  8. Good evening all. Quick question on the luxury car tax on new cars with a list price over £40k. ( applicable from the start of the second licence -currently an additional £335 per year on top of the normal rate for the following 5 years). I have negotiated a deal on the new NX350H with a list price of just under the 40k threshold. I understand Lexus will apply a price increase across the NX range of approximately £1500 from January 2022. The delivery time is estimated for July/August 2022 by which time the new prices will be in effect. My understanding is that cars with a list price of over 40k at the time of first registration will be liable for the luxury car tax. So although I will pay less than 40 K for the car, by the time it is registered next year, the updated list price will now exceed this figure & so luxury car tax will be automatically applied. Have I interpreted the rules correctly? if so It looks like this extra tax will now be applicable to even the base NX model going forward 😩. Thanks in advance. Steve.
  9. Great. Thanks for the advice Colin. I will give it a go. 👍
  10. Hi. I used to be able to connect to the internet via the infotainment system connecting automatically with my iPhone having previously entered a password for my mobile hotspot. I now find that in order to connect to the wifi hotspot of my iPhone I have to re-enter the password each time- the system no longer remembers /retains the password. However my Lexus will automatically connect to my home wifi without issue as it remembers the password for this. Very strange? Can anyone advise if they experience similar or can offer a solution please. NX300h 2019 running up to date software & iPhone 11 which is also up to date. Many thanks Steve
  11. The below is the closest I can find. It looks very similar to the one I ordered over 12 months ago & from the same manufacturer. Hope this helps. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32855563328.html
  12. Hi Al D- Much. I have a 2019 NX300H & ordered one of these from Ali Express (aliexpress.com). Shipping from China so be prepared for a few weeks delivery but only cost approximately £65. Looks & fits well with NX logo laser engraved in the middle . Very pleased. Regards Steve.
