  1. Involves removing the centre console in your car, but fairly straight forward
  2. Have you seen this thread? I tried to organise a small group buy with Steve Ganz from Carson Toyota (Matthew Macnally set up deal originally) He needed five orders to make a right hand drive version. Have a look and see what you think... http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/ind...topic=16254&hl=
  3. Thats TDI's quoted figure isn't it? I believe its approx 5-8 hours work, so depeninding who fites it, you can work it out from there based on an hourly rate
  4. Guys on Scoobynet said the ZZ1s were lethal! Did you find they were ok? Not one person had a good thing to say about them, especially in the wet! I thought they had been replaced now with the marginally better ZZ3s? What about trying the new Toyo T-1R? Eagle F1 GSD3 ? If you shop around you can get the price down, but as Anees said, this is one area you don't want to stick to a budget on, especially with the kinf of power your putting on the road Paul ;) There is also the new Toyo R888.. the first road legal track day tyre ;)
  5. Hmmm.. I don't see how this kind of survey can be done. Most women can't tell one make/type of car from the other when asked. Lets face it, how many times have you asked, what kind of car is it... answer: "er.. a blue one... " or ".. its a nice one..." I have to say though, I don't ever remember thinking ".. now will women think this car is sexy..." when I have ever looked at buying a car
  6. Thats why I put my name down for one of Mr Prolex's Hi-Flow cats :)
  7. De-cat will usually yield some results, more noticeable on a forced induction engine. I'm hoping to at least remove the pre-cats when I got for the SC. If I read correct and you are lpg'd I have no idea of what results to expect. I had a friend who went LPG on a brand new Subaru Legacy.. only to find the valve seats were burnt out at 12000 miles.. and was informed this would be a regular thing
  8. No bother... I got part my boot dynamatted today, will hopefully finish it off tomorrow :) Then on to removing the rear speakers, and seeing if those ID8v3 subs will fit... will keep you posted.
  9. I didn't say to touch the rear seat belt units.. I said the trim above.. which you appropriately termed the C-pillar trim :) Not sure I like the sound of removing them without touching anything... sounds far too destructive for my liking.
  10. The grills are part of the rear shelf, you have to remove the lot. I have the same job to do myself. It will also undoubtably involve removing the side trim above the rear belt units to give you clearance to get them out.
  11. Happy to report card delivered, thank you very much Mr E.. and yes, I feel just like Charlie Bucket... cause I got a golden ticket :)
  12. I want my CARPC for MP3 primarily rather than Satnav, as this is what I will use it for most of the time. I don't travel to that many places that I don't know, hence why the cost factor for the satnav software is a factor in my choice of software. I'm opting to replace the whole system in my car, headunit, amps, wiring & speakers :)
  13. It does look pretty good, but it should do for the price! Have to admit I have only had a play with getting Destinator 3 working, so not had experience of the routes. Let us know how you get on with the new product, as you rightly say, if it works well, it might be worth the price
  14. Follow my link Brett, its on www.ebay.com, not Ebay UK. I did see the standard tray on ebay UK, thats not the one I was pointing at... the one on ebay.com is a full housing (widescreen version) with motor etc Have you had a look at Destinator 3 from Ninja Monkey on mp3car.com? It lends itself quite well to touchscreen interface... and more importantly, its SKINNABLE.... so you can redesign the button sizes to suit your needs.
  15. Hey folks, there is a Satnav housing on US Ebay.... only at $61 at the moment. Its the widescreen version too, will require minimal modifying for a 7" widescreen TFT. Here it is http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...&category=40017
  16. A guy called Ninja Monkey on mp3car.com has adopted Destinator 3 for pc use using the SDK. I've had a play and its pretty good. Works very well with Frodoplayer, and with Media Engine. There are about half a dozen now, with AIMEE in the pipeline, Media Car.. all do a similar job, just in a slightly different style. As Brett pointed out, go take a look on www.mp3car.com. There is a UK site called http://www.digital-car.co.uk too A few guys on www.is300.net have installed carputers in their IS's too. Worth a look. I am aware of myself and IanF who are trying to use the OEM nav housing for the screen location, and I believe Paul (Fargo) is helping out another forum member with the same project.
  17. Posting before caffiene has been consumed not awlays advised.. apologies to Marcus, my comments were directed at RoadRash.. As for this response.. I think whistling is an appropriate, just keep doing it.. Wow, didn't know that..... ← Poor guy who started this thread didn't even ask about performance gains. Its really very sad, all forums seem to go the same way. There are sound genuine people out there, who just want to help out, then there's people like this...
  18. Going to use a Brodit bracket to mount mine to the side of the AC controls. Will post a pic when its in. Occured to me no one has seen these. Take a look at www.brodit.com, Paul (Fargo) ordered a couple to use mounting various gadgets he is installing
  19. I'm fully aware of the fact that the Remus has mufflers in.. cause I don't want a loud exhaust! I am also aware of how performance exhausts are constructed. I am also aware of how this effects performance gains, did you not read the 'facts' I quoted from my Impreza dyno readings? I also pointed out that I replaced the WHOLE system, removing both cats, but opting for a small resonator on the centre section, and the Remus to keep the noise in check. I gained almost 30bhp in the process. Personally, the extra 3-5bhp extra I 'might' have gained from having a boy racer noise box just wasn't worth it. The point you're missing Marcus is that not everyone wants a loud exhaust. And the reality is that the back box gains alone are not worth worrying about, irrespective of which you go for. I'm planning on getting my car supercharged in the next couple of months, but I don't expect the Remus to make much; if any significant difference. I can't say though, cause I don't have any figures to prove or disprove the point. Personally I am looking at a de-cat or hi-flow cat solution, which will see some performance gains. As for the boy racers, perhaps in 'your' country you do not suffer with them as badly as we do here. But lets just say that when the majority of people hear a loud exhaust, they immediately assume its a boy racer.. or some middle aged guy trying to rekindle his youth. Or more to the point, they say 'look at that tw4t' .. and I'm inclined to agree I also prefer to listen to music when I drive, or maybe talk to my passengers, not the drone of my exhaust..
  20. What would be more useful would be if we had access to data to illustrate which exhausts offer any gains, if any at all.
  21. Marcus.. boy racers are the sad little boys who think the louder your exhaust, the cooler it is. As for performance gains, I never said it gave any: I replaced the whole system on my Impreza, Magnex downpipe and resonated centre section with a Remus back box. Meant it had a nice sound, but did not wake the dead... as for performance gains, when dyno'd it had gone from 208bhp standard to 236.3bhp.. it also had a K&N 57i induction kit. Its funny how so many have grand opinions on here with no actual experience of products to back them up. I choose not to comment on things I have no experience of, its a pity others don't have the same courtesy. Instead we have the pleasure of statements like this one: This forum seems to be getting increasingly catty just lately. I work at a school, and even the kids aren't this bad! At least they have the excuse of being teenagers with scrambled hormones.
  22. Sleep? Fail to see the connection. If you're referring to the crap that the forum put in place of a word I typed, not my fault I'm not permitted to express such terms. Like I said, its down to personal opinion and experience. You are basing an 'opinion' on hear say and not even on personal experience. As for living in the country where they are made, again, relevance? We all have our problems to deal with I guess. Keeping up the neighbours with a noisy exhaust is not how I get my kicks, that would be the domain of boy racers... 'boy' being the keyword
  23. Hmm.. I guess this is down to opinion then. Personally, I don't want to drive my car down the road and sound like a 17 year old wowwypop in a Nova, but if thats how you get your kicks, then so be it. As for rust, I think the only thing crap around here is what your talking. I had a Remus on my Impreza for over two and a half years, and it was fine. The one on my IS is fine. Its basically down to what you want. Unless you have some form of forced induction, the performance gains will be minimal irrespective of which one you go for.
  24. If thats the style menu you want, easiest way to create one is to 'borrow' their code, and use it to create your own. You could simply substitute your own graphics for theirs, remove unwanted links from the script, and modify ones that you want yourself. Its by far the easiest way to learn how the code works, and which bit does what.
