  1. I guess we can all chill with the cat thefts. The numbers are down, 70-80% less in 2023 compared to 2021. If anyone was part of any CT/Prius/Jazz group, it was literally filled with thefts a couple years back. Now there's barely any post. I believe the main reasons are: - prices of the rare metals going down - water mark activity (perhaps, I have my doubts, I dont think even 10% of the people got a shield on) ( - thieves switching to stealing jags :p )
  2. Downgrade the tyres down an inch. Go with a 55 sidewall and happy days.
  3. How's the car @CT200NI SB? all nice and dandy? Welcome to the Lexus world!
  4. If I remember right there is an option to increase blinker volume if you use Techstream. It should also be available with Carista app or similar. You'd just need to find someone to connect to your car's obd2 port with the toyota/lexus software/app.
  5. How's the mileage? If its over 100k, I would not change the ws fluid
  6. Some interesting info: https://www.confused.com/car-insurance/guides/has-car-insurance-gone-up?utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=newsletter&utm_source=brandawareness&utm_term=20230724&utm_content=july2023newslettermotorrdcv2_012
  7. Funny reading some of the comments saying its a Lexus thing. You are on a Lexus forum, what do you expect? In the last couple of months I noticed some of my colleagues complaining about insurance hikes. The few I can remember is an ID3 from 600 to 1100. A Toyota Yaris '14 with a 30% increase and I have also simulated a new quote (CT'14) and it does raise from 440 to 620. All car parts are going up and so the price of the cars, automatically this leads to an increase of repair prices and here we are with an increase in insurance prices. Inflation hits all aboard. Quiet times = predictibility = low prices. There's war in Ukraine, global inflation and Brexit, what should we expect prices going down? Its gonna be fun when visa checks (travel) will come later this year and % tariffs from EU goods.
  8. @SRVOwrong forum mate 😝 Ask on the FB group
  9. Mostly in the US. I believe it might be the mild weather and better fuel quality that saves us. They do pop from time to time on the bigger CT groups but people dont tend to do as many miles here as they do in the US.
  10. I'd go with CRC. Check comparisons on YT.
  11. I would go for the aftermarket cat, the genuine ones have weak spots and seen them cut on CT Facebook group. Unfortunately, I have a genuine one aswell 😞
  12. In the UK the OEM tyres are Yokohama BluEarth E70 if I remember right.
  13. @R32crewhttps://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lexus_CT Our CT was delivered with the same trans and engine world wide. Quite unique. I guess it was the headgasket
  14. @R32crewinteresting topic, lets see how this will workout! Keep us updated and fingers crossed for a cheap fix!
  15. ^if you service at your dealer, you get warranty up to 10y/100k miles Sounds like a head gasket leak. Seems like its gonna affect us in the UK aswell but not as often as it happens in the US. Sorry to hear about your issues mate, sounds like you need a new engine (usually cheaper in the states). How's the mileage and how frequent was the oil changed in the best? I also see you have a facelift '15. Interesting, they did attempt to sort the issue with o-rings and piston changed in '14 and '15 models (facelift). Now I wonder if your egr has been cleaned if you have high miles.
  16. This is so rare! I cant even think of one occasion seeing this here or on the much populated UK FB group. I would look on priuschat for similar issues with the prius gen3 as it has the same gearbox. Now I wonder, did you change the gearbox oil in the past? There's a toyota master tehnician on youtube (car care nut) that recommends changing ecvt gearbox oil every 8y/80k or dont change it all if it passes those marks.
  17. Funny thing, if you browse the Lexus CT Facebook group, one of the members has recently reported and also showed a picture with his shield cut off. Apparently, the genuine (more expensive) catlock seems to have a flaw compared to the low cost versions - they have a couple weak points around the screws. Now, I doubt my £200 genuine catlow was what I thought, what I actually need. Too late now, I will be praying that it will deter the low skilled chaps attempting to get my cat.
  18. Hi @Armitage I'd advise you to go on the UK or US facebook group for more technical information. The hybrid battery is greatly affected by periods of >2 weeks of not starting up your car. One way to check the remaining battery life of your CT is to buy a ELM327 Obd2 (Veepeak BLE+ for example) and Dr Prius app and do a life expectancy test. Your dealer will most likely won't tell you the % life left. Recently, I have encountered two different 2014 CT and gen3 Prius. Both of them use the same battery. The CT has been used 5k miles/year, the Prius 1y miles/year. After 8 years, the CT had 89% battery left and the Prius 75%.
  19. bulletin id is TSB BE-0133L-1014 or BE-0133L-1014
  20. Any differences in behaviour between cold and hot engine?
  21. Ask in the Lexus CT US facebook group or on priuschat. Another option would be ct200hforums This forum is just a nice posh british place were everybody will say "just go to the dealer for anything" 😜
  22. The stage can also be seen realtime if get an obd2 dongle and dr prius (or hybrid assistant)
