  1. Hope he booked his overtime ;) .got to be honest though getting realy sick of the police going on about there paperwork etc .the public don't care we just want a police force to protect us etc not to bleat on about red tape etc. People dont get to court without paper work and thats just the way it is. The government set the criteria, the police have to adhere to the load. becuase th police, like you, are frustrated with having to consider the human rights of the suspect, and everything has to be dot the i's and cross the t's as to the evidence so the defence solicitor doesn't request the case thrown out of court. Accountability and justification has to be so covered. My partner, would love to write a quick arrest book, pass the case over to a civil support network, and then get out to deal with 7 year olds drinking and sitting on cars, and then get to every problem the same evening, but that is not the way it is. The police as per your quote "go on about their paperwork" because they want to get out of custody quicker TO HELP everyone they can. But Uk justice is SWAYED TOWARDS THE SUSPECT and there needs to be so much accountability. My partner is a "new" father and hates staying on "to book on his overtime" unless necessary and doesnt rip the overtime just for extra wages.
  2. Id like to add a point here... my partner is a police officer and when he gets an arrest in I dont see him till the next day some times due to the paperwork they have to deal with. Once on nights, he started at 10pm and was due to finish at 6am .he had an arresst in at 5.50am. He did not get back home till at least 2pm that day affter having done all his paper work for court as th person was not bailable and had to attend court that same afternoon. Some of the case files can be as thick as a novel! It is crazy. i saw this, when he briefly brought one home once to complete on one very bad occasion. As to the person at the begining not getting police turn up when a 7 year old was sitting on someones car drinking alcohol, from what I have been told, it is easy to run out officers sometimes when it goes FUBAR.
