  1. I get something similar. When I pull away (I always notice it when it's cold) it's a buzzing type of vibration that sounds like it's coming from under where the sat-nav screen should be. I've always put it down to the climate control - as it isn't on yet (as the engine is still too cold) is there something vibrating there? I keep wacking the dash in various places but it never goes away!
  2. Well I've definately been put off the Parrot - thanks guys - glad I asked! I really wanted something to go through the stereo so I could crank up the volume a bit as I know how poor the call quality can be above around 50. I didn't really fancy a head-set as they appear quite big, cumbersome and heavy (and look pretty stupid) . Is that the case? Or do you not really notice them? I don't think I'm too fussed about charging it. A company (MCS I think) told me that Autoleads are issuing something in a few weeks to enable the parrot to be wired through the stereo, perhaps that will work for the CARK112? May make it more useable. What do you think Ricky? If your CARK112 was through the stereo would you recommend it or still not (I appreciate it's hyperthetical). Thanks again for info. Rick.
  3. I went from PIAA extreme whites (the best non HID you can buy IMHO) to a direct HID replacement. I got them from HERE and from memory were around £350. Took less than half an hour to fit both and I'm extremely pleased with the results. B) One thing you must be aware of is dazzling on-coming drivers. I tend to leave the height adjuster on 1 or 1.5 unless the road's empty. :o Remember it will fail an MOT but to temporarily replace the original bulbs will take about 5 mins.
  4. Well I've just discovered that if the stereo is an "amplified" system I'll get feedback so they won't wire it through the stereo. Apparently Autoleads are releasing something in the next couple of weeks to combat this. :) Does anyone else have a successful install through the standard car stereo that they're pleased with? (Either Nokia cark112 or the Parrot.) Thanks. Rick.
  5. I've decided to go for the Parrot system (this one) but wondered if anyone could recommend someone to come and fit the thing. Looking at the blurb it says "Full Duplex communication, noise reduction and perfect integration with stereo equipment" so hopefully no adapters or mods are required? I'm working around the Nottingham area for the next few weeks. Thanks, Rick.
  6. Mine (on my IS200) loses any "memory" once the speed drops below approx. 25mph. So...if I cancel, or brake, then drop below 25 it will not resume. Very annoying but I guess a safety feature? Could perhaps be what's happening with yours?
  7. Hmmmm.....Interesting.... I've got a boat that weighs in at around 1000Kg and needed a tow bar for just in and out of the water and taking it a mile up the road to fill it with LPG every few weeks. On the extras list stated an oil cooler is required on an auto (IS) if a tow bar is fitted. I asked Lexus Guildford for a quote for the detatchable tow bar which I duly got but it did not include the oil cooler. I asked why not and was told "we have never fitted an oil cooler". I double checked and treble checked with them as I didn't want my warranty invalidated and they assured me everything was ok. So how can they sell, fit and approve a tow bar and then say in the manual they recommend you dont tow anything Rick
  8. 1. Finish (driving it out of the showroom) looked good (as any new car should). Quality appears good - durability? Well...... 2. I think "Chip Properties" would be more appropriate. I remember the car had to go back for an extra they'd forgotten to fit a week after I'd driven it out of the showroom. I asked them to touch up three chips (Don't think I'd done 50 miles yet). I was given the yarn about less lead in the paint etc. 3. By far the worst paint "duribility" of any vehicle I've owned. Suffice to say it could definately put me off buying another Lexus :( Rick.
  9. Any pics of these? How much and are they easy to fit? Thanks. Rick.
  10. I had mine done HERE, they're near Reading. Did a 1st class job although perhaps a tad pricey reading what others are paying at Tint-R? Very pleased with the results tho B) Rick.
  11. Hmmmm....was that a yes or a no Matt? Perhaps you could PM me? Thanks. Rick.
  12. Hi Matt, do you make house calls or must we come to you? I often stay in Buckden (Nr. Huntingdon). Thanks, Rick.
  13. I paid for the Supaguard treatment when mine was new last April (similar figure from what I can remember). To be honest, now it's nearly a year old I'm not entirely convinced, although I haven't put any polish on it yet which can't be bad. Admitedly it doesn't bead the water as if it's just been polished but there is clearly wax there. Most noticable for me was how easily the wheels clean. Just a sponge of soapy water is fine. (Wheel treatment is included). Rick.
  14. I thought the graphic represented the rear screen and the door mirrors
  15. I saw the same mention of anti-chip paint as you did a few weeks ago. I'm appalled how easily it chips, as probably over 90% of IS owners are as well. There have been many threads on this over the last few months. I'm just not sure if anything was ever concluded. Personally I think my IS has more "noticable" paint chips than any other car I've ever owned.
  16. Think you're right GRiM. Seems to make sense to get it from a UK dealer. Worth it (for me anyway) to pay the extra 30 squid and save on teh worry. Thank for the info.... Rick.
  17. Bonjour vince, I tend to do that out of habit as I don't like the car creeping forward or leaving my foot on the brake when stationary. I'd use the handbrake if on an incline. Hope that helps. Rick.
  18. I bought mine from HERE. Haven't perceived any noticable drop in reception. Rick.
  19. A simple double de-clutch will allow it to slip in nicely - Perhaps heel-n-toe while you're at it and it'll sound and feel sweet too. B)
  20. Richard, Thank you for info. You've confirmed what I thought with the two phones. Could you comment on the quality of the CARK-112 - I've had the CARK-91 in a few cars and it really isn't too brilliant above around 50 or 60. Cheers, Rick.
  21. If I have 2 nokia blue tooth phones in the car at the same time - can anyone tell me if I can use just ONE blue tooth headset? If yes, how would it work? I also read in the press yesterday that from Easter only "expensive fixed in-car kits" would be legal. Does this include the blue tooth headsets? Isn't there a blue tooth "in car kit" with wireless speaker / mic etc? Would this work with 2 phones? I'm looking for the best "legal" option but don't want to put any holes in anywhere. Thank you for advice Rick.
  22. I fitted the white PIAA LED's to mine a while ago, they still have a blu-ish tint I feel (would prefer bright white to go with the HID's), but they look soooo much better than the standard ones. B) B)
  23. Sounds perfect to me. Where would the the kit be mounted? Presumeably near the feeds that you mentioned - but where are they? Please excuse my ignorance. Rick.
  24. Definately interested. Hope we can have some sort of kit form?
  25. Definately think I'll hang on 'till you get yours. The headlights look well cool B) B) Let us know how you get on. Cheers....
