  1. Mine was done about 3 years ago, free of charge, when I had it serviced.
  2. I believe you should continue to use 0W 20 as specified. This grade of oil is specified for economy (MPG). I have read on some forums of people reporting a reduction of up to 10% in MPG when using 5W 30 oil. Apparently in newer Toyota hybrids (and some other manufacturers) they now specify 0W 16.
  3. Could this problem be something as simple as resetting the steering sensors. I don’t know about Lexus but I know that on a Mazda (MX5 at least) if you run the battery flat or disconnect it, after reconnecting or recharging you see a the VSC light flashing. The steering sensors need to to re-learn their positions, by turning the steering lock to lock a couple of times, turning ignition off and then on again this resets the system and turns the warning off.
  4. The best place to get a new battery is indeed your Lexus (or Toyota) dealer. When I had to replace mine on my old CT I shopped around and found that the main dealer was the best price, which was about £90 (with a loyalty discount) at the time. I fitted it myself but I think they will fit for free if you’re buying from them. Oh, and don’t think you can just go to someware like Halfords, they will just try to sell you a standard lead acid battery, which it’s not.
  5. No, I think he’s barking up the wrong tree. The mechanics of a hybrid with the CVT drive, I think, is very different to a “normal” drive system. From what I read on the subject your symptoms do sound like the EGR problem. If you do a search on this forum you’ll find a lot information on it.
  6. I may be wrong but I think a dual mass flywheel is normally only fitted to a manual transmission! So no it doesn’t sound plausible.
  7. If it’s the pump you can get replacements on eBay. They don’t tend to be too expensive.
  8. I think you’ll find there are two pumps mounted on the bottom of the washer bottle which goes through the inner wing. To gain access you will need to ease back the plastic wheel arch lining at the front of the wheel arch. This will be made easier by jacking the car up and removing the drivers side wheel. You might find that it’s just corroded terminals and a clean up might get it working or it that doesn’t get it working then you’ll need a replacement pump. I had this problem on my daughter’s Yaris only it was the front washer and it was just before MOT. I didn’t have enough time to get a replacement so I swapped the pumps over so it was the rear not working as the rear washer is not an MOT requirement.
  9. Well that’s excellent news. It just goes to prove those doubters wrong who said that the new relax warranty wasn’t as good as the original or extended warranty and specifically didn’t cover the infotainment system.
  10. That’s very sad news. I remember him well from years ago when I had an IS 200. He used to run the ********** club that I joined and he organised many outings such as meet ups at the Ace Cafe and taking part in the London tunnels run. RIP

I know your CT is out of criteria for the year by year, up to 10 yeas/100,000 miles warranty but by having the annual hybrid check carried out it does extend the warranty on the hybrid system and battery for another year up to 15 years. see below, copied from the Lexus UK site. Lexus warranty and hybrid vehicles For customers with hybrid vehicles, the Hybrid Health Check forms part of the scheduled servicing. The warranty includes cover for the hybrid battery and components for up to 10 years/100,000 miles. After this time, customers can still extend the cover for up to 15 years with a stand-alone scheduled Hybrid Health Check.
  12. I can remember from my days of owning an IS200 that a lot of owners were experiencing this same problem although I didn’t have the problem myself. The problem was being caused by water leaking through the scuttle, below the windscreen where a cable passes through and the water would drip onto the fuse board and relays. So I think your link with the wet weather is probably on the right lines. The cure was to locate the problem and silicone it, and then to try to dry out the fuses and relays.
  13. I wrote the above on a thread back in March when I renewed my LRA. As you can see things where changing back then. I was told that although the roadside assistance has been provided by the AA for many years the system was administered by Lexus but that has changed and Lexus has contracted the whole thing out to the AA an that’s when the problems started. I emailed several people within the Lexus customer services and every time I was given confirmation that a nominated partner was included and that both myself and that nominated partner are covered when a passenger or driver of any vehicle. I still haven’t seen the definitive T&C for this, needless to say I’m keeping all copies of correspondence in case it’s needed.

I've had Lexus Roadside assistance for many years, both as part of the warranty and as additional purchase when it runs out, and it has always been the case that you could add a partners/spouse and that you and your partner were covered for nay vehicle as a passenger or driver. The only time we've ever needed it was when my wife broke down in her Yaris and, of course, they responded. I have recently renewed my LRA online as it expired 8th March. I got an email confirmation which said that my paperwork and cards would follow in the post. after waiting a couple of weeks and nothing arrived I gave them a ring. I was told that they don't provide plastic cards anymore as they are trying to be "environmentally friendly" but after discussion they agreed to send me some paperwork to confirm my cover. This finally arrived after another couple of weeks. When that arrived there was a copy of the Terms and Conditions booklet which looked different to what I've had before. When I read the Ts & Cs there was no mention of cover for a partner or for other vehicles. So I rang again and queried this. I was told that the cover is still there but this is what they have to send out. I said that this was no good to me as if at some time in the future I needed assistance they could refuse to come out and stating the Ts & Cs that I'd been given. The guy on the phone eventually, after speaking to a manager, agreed that he could send me an email to confirm that we are still covered. He also explained to me that although the service has been provided by the AA for a number of years the admin side has always been carried out by Lexus but they have now contracted this out to the AA as well. I also asked if he had many calls querying this and he admitted that he had and that these two terms was what people were asking about. I have done some research and have found that on the Lexus website Here there are details of LRA stating that partner and other vehicles are included but there are two buttons for links to the Ts & Cs, one for new purchasers and one for renewals. Needless to say the Ts & Cs are different. The one for renewals is the one that was sent to me and the one for new purchases is the old Ts & Cs that we used to receive which includes definitions for Other Vehicle and Partner. It would seem to me from this that Lexus are changing the cover without telling us.
  17. I’m surprised that no one has asked about the existing “glove” that has been fitted. Maybe something has been fitted by the previous owner and should be removed. I never had any issues like this with either of my two CT200s that I’ve owned, in fact I find the steering wheel excellent for both feel and grip.
  18. I’m surprised no one has mention oil. There’s been a number of reports on here in the past about how not using the correct oil can damage fuel consumption. The spec for the CT, and in fact most of the Toyota and Lexus range, is 0/20 but on occasions the dealers have been known to put 10/30 or similar in as 0/20 isn’t available. I believe this can have a detrimental effect on consumption by up to 5%. Check with your dealer to see what they used.

  20. Anyone seen this new warranty deal from Lexus. I saw a link to the Toyota one on Facebook and did a search for the Lexus equivalent. https://www.lexus.co.uk/owners/warranty/lexus-relax/ I was going to buy an extended warranty this year when my 3 years are up but I don’t need to now. I’ve got a service plan have today booked it in for its service and asked about Lexus Relax and the guy confirmed that my warranty will be extended for another year automatically.
