  1. Hi there, I am driving a 2009 GS 300 (the facelift). Purchased the car a year ago. I am in Europe, but I rely on your forum as you are resources-rich 🙂 I have noticed that with heavy rain / power washer, water get's inside the car, on the passenger side. From what I've noticed, it's dripping from the side of the glove box compartment (i.e. when you open the passenger door, you can see the side of the glovebox, that touches the door). I am not sure if that's a seal issue, or if my drainage is blocked? This doesn't happen with light rain or when I wash it carefully and being moderate with the powerwasher over that area. I couldn't find a scheme of the drainage, but in my opinion, it should uncover once I remove the wipers and unscrew the cover underneath. Will be happy if there's a scheme / manual or something like that, as I wasn't able to find Googling for it and going through the more popular forums. My windshield has been changed due to a stone crack. They put a Pilkington one, and I wonder if that can be the case, i.e. it's not properly mounted, there's a whole somewhere, but I doubt it. It was done in Germany. They are rarely sloppy over there. Any tips on how to solve this are welcome. I'm worried that at one point it might result in damage to a chip / or the electrical system. Much love.
  2. It's not orange, that's how the bulb is...I mean, headlights need restoration and I will take them down to send them to a specialist, but that's the color of the bulb. I want to change the bulb with one, which color fits more the outer one, i.e. the xenon light one. The inner "orange" bulb, is HIR1, and I can find HIR2 that fit the color spectrum. That was my question, if a HIR2 bulb will fit instead of HIR1.
  3. Hi all, Thanks for jumping in. @lenT you are talking about the xenon bulbs, D4S, which are the outer ones. I am talking about the inner ones. I'll attach a picture. The inner ones are HIR1, but I am wondering if HIR2 would fit @OldTrout I see, I have seen this explanation before too, and it makes sense. I know it won't be exactly the same, but the difference won't be that big, I guess. @johnatg thank you for the input. I have seen some with changed bulbs, and they still look better than this old-style yellowish light.
  4. Hey there, I've got a GS300 from year 2009, the facelift, and while I have Xenons (D4S, 4300K from what I can find), the high beams are good old halogen bulbs. I've gotten them out, and they are HIR1 12V 65W from Toshiba. I can't find those, but there are Osram alternatives. Now, I would like to get a spectrum that's closer to the ones of the xenon, so I have the same "spectrum of light." Osram Cool Blue Intense HIR2 bulbs seem to fit what I'm looking for. The Cool Blue Intense group spectrum is up to 4200K, I am not sure if the HIR2 bulbs indeed come with 4200K, I need to research on that. Power input is 63W, nominal wattage is 55W, I guess that's fine. Now, I am not sure, would HIR2 fit HIR1? I am not very well educated and knowledgable if HIR1 / HIR 2 ETC are different "holes", i.e. you can't fit Apple charging cable on a Samsung, or there's something else? I've read that HIR2 come with lower amount of lumens, the example above comes with 1875 while HIR1 with some 2300 lm. Philips also has a HIR2 bulb, 4200 K, 1350 lm, and as per the website, it's suitable for both low beams and high beams, so I guess there's a high likelyhood for the Osrams to be the same? I'll be thankful for any input on that matter and topic. Looking to refresh how the car looks. Thank you.
  5. Hey guys, We have been trying to figure out how many liters of ATF WS are needed for a complete replacement of the gearbox oil? The manual says only ATF WS (understandable), but there is no info on how many liters are needed for a complete change. It says 1.7L for when you drop the pan, and complete change ranges from 5L to 9.4L as per the various sources. Can someone help? The car is a facelifted GS300 S19 from 2008. From what we have found out, the gearbox must be Aisin A760E, as per that source. Thank you.
  6. I am really doubtful it would take a month. No way. Today they are running a -35% and a KYB one comes at 93GBP. Delivery will be 5 more GBP or so. Racing Coilovers are something different, I would not go with such a solution tbh. But in any case, keep us updated.
  7. Let me know how if goes. If you are having problems with your order, I would go through the German AutoDoc Group - https://www.autodoc.co.uk/ If you order through the app, you get more discount. Make sure to set your country in the app settings as "United Kingdom" to show you what parts can be delivered to you. I have never had issues with them, the delivery might take a week or 10 days, but that's fine with me.
  8. Hi there, My 09 GS300 has 110k miles / 180k km and the gearbox oil has never been changed. Not that I have any complaints, but better be on the safe side. The differential oil was changed some 31k miles ago. As per the manual, the gearbox oil is to be replaced every 40k miles or so. I am extremely wary, as I know there are three possible routines to get your oil changed, but only 1 is correct and 1 can end up really bad. 1. Drop the pan and top up whatever oil leaks out. With that method, you can change only about 25% of the oil at a time. 2. Gearbox flush, AFAIK this is the worst possible scenario, since some dirt can spread out within the gearbox and you can have a total failure soon after. 3.A third method with a vacuum pump that pumps out the old oil, and fills up fresh one, which has been heated at the correct temperature. Now, I am wondering if that pumping out procedure is similar to the one described in the second method or they are completely different. I have been told this is the correct procedure. As spare parts, I have been advised to look for nothing but genuine ATF WS oil. There is a 1L plastic bottle and a 4L metal dose meant for Japan. There are a few of these metal ones in Europe, but I have been warned these might have been manufactured / filled up long ago (4-5 years ago), so the oil is not exactly fresh. The spare parts number as the following: 1L 08886-81210 - only slightly more expensive, but if method 1 is applied, they definitely make more sense. 4L 08886-02305 As per this website, both these are the same and meet the requirements needed. I will be happy to know more to be able to figure out if the mechanics would follow the correct procedure.
  9. This has been figured out. As per the manual, when in "S" the gear on the tiny display should show "4".
  10. Hi guys, Testdrove a Lexus today I am about to purchase. All works fine, drove it 20km and the transmission changes smoothly, no issues. When in D it goes all the way up to 6th. Nothing is shown on the dashboard in the small round section meant for the gears. When in S, on manual mode, f.e. I am driving in D, move to S, and it is in 6th gear, it shows again 4th gear. It does all the tricks with the kickdowns and stuff, but it shows 4th gear. When I push it up or down, the number changes, but generally for some reason, it prefers to show the number 4. Is it how it is supposed to be? The car is clear, about 120tkm miles, transmission fluid has not been changed at least for the last 45tkm miles, I hope it has been changed before. It functions with no issues, at least for the 15 miles I testdrove it.
  11. This guy changed the struts on his 450h with regular ones. Seems to work and do the job just fine.
  12. Hi guys, I am currently driving a facelifted Lexus GS300 (08+ model). My struts are adaptive, I believe the car came with them, but I might need to change them soon. New adaptive struts are very expensive, and makes no sense for me to invest in them. They would account for probably at least 12% of the current car's valuation, add to that labor. Is it possible to replace those with normal Gas-a-just struts from KYB? They go way cheaper and it makes (economical) sense. I rarely control the dampers anyways, and I believe KYB will be in between the two modes. This guy seems to have done exactly that - Replacing Lexus GS450H 2007 shocks with GS300 save some money and keep old car running a bit longer - YouTube
