  1. The one show tonight (13/3) had a special on stealing Lexuses! Apparently they spoke to Lexus and Lexus confirmed that they will be releasing a software update for cars registered before 2021 that should stop the CAN bus issue. I have already contacted my Lexus dealer and will update if I have anything further. Has anyone heard anything?
  2. I am not sure that I will live long enough for a software update from Lexus. I am therefore having a Ghost II installed tomorrow. It will not stop the scumbags from damaging the car but at least I know they will not be driving it away. I hope!
  3. On a more serious subject, I have just had my car back from Lexus after a service, and was told that they fitted new enhanced plates to the car. I did originally have the plates fitted back in July 2023. Anyone have any idea what is enhanced on the new plates?
  4. All great ideas. Almost worth serving a few months inside just for the enjoyment of actually doing it. Maybe not!
  5. Yes it is. I think a high Voltage discharge unit would probably be better. That way you will have time to catch the thief and chop his hand (and other bits) off. That said you will likely be arrested and be the one in the wrong! Wokism gone mad!
  6. Thanks Neil but as per my original post, I had these plates fitted back in July 2023. Unfortunately they will not stop scumbags damaging the car anyway before they realise they cannot get to the cables.
  7. I have a few other ideas but I do not want to get arrested!
  8. Having started this thread a year ago, one year on and almost to the day there has been another attempt at stealing my RX! I had the metal plates fitted last year and I had a very visible steering lock (Stoplock Pro Elite) on the car but this did not stop the scumbags from trying again. My security lights came on which made them run away like the rats that they are but not before trying to pull off the bumper and the wheel rim plastic. Lexus were very accommodating and managed to put everything back in place very quickly. Unfortunately this is just something we are going to have to live with. They will not be able to steal the car but it will not stop them damaging it. I think Saudi Arabia have got it right by chopping off the hands of these scumbags.
  9. If you are getting a brand new RX, I believe this issue should not concern you as they seem to have moved things around and the Can Bus vulnerability no longer exists on the new models. I stand to be corrected from anyone who knows otherwise.
  10. Please ask your dealer. These things should not be discussed on here for the 'scrotes' to read and learn from!
  11. I do not believe features like remote start are available on your car. I have the same 2020 model and it is not available.
  12. The other option is to turn off keyless entry from the car settings in the vehicle. The car will no longer look for a signal from the key. Unfortunately this will also mean that you have to lock/unlock the car by pressing the button on the remote and having the remote touch the start button in order to start the car. This will solve one problem but will cause you inconvenience in the process. You will just have to decide which is more important.
  13. Just by way of an update, out of the blue I was able to see 1 further trip on 14th June, a couple of weeks ago. But again it froze on that date for a week or so. Now suddenly, and for no apparent reason, it seems to be working fine again. Possibly a problem at their end? If so, it still took 4 weeks to resolve!
  14. My car is currently at Lexus having the plate fitted. It has taken a while but it seems that things are moving quickly now. The dealer did show me the plate and how it supposedly works as he also had another one for another customer. It should certainly stop the car getting stolen using the can bus method but unfortunately the thieves are still likely to cause the damage trying to access the cables before they realise they cannot. Better than nothing, I guess....... I still think some razor wire under the wheel arch would do wonders to any hand trying to access the cables!
  15. This is probably not the right place to give out too much information about what the plate is and how it is fitted! If you ask your Lexus dealer, I am sure they can tell you all you need to know.
  16. That is very strange that yours has stopped at the same date. The interesting thing is when I complained to Lexus regarding the Can Bus thefts of RX's their suggestion was to have Lexus Link active.........
  17. I have been using Lexus Link since purchasing my car without any issues. However suddenly it seems to have stopped on 13/06 and now it is totally useless. Find my car shows the car location at 6:58pm on 13/06/2023 and will no longer update. I checked the settings and everything seems connected and activated. Any help would be very much appreciated until I get a chance to go to my local Lexus dealer, but not sure they will be able to resolve it.
  18. Probably not the best of ideas! Everything else in the car including settings will probably also be reset. Besides, the scumbags will still cause all the damage before realising they cannot steal the car. I'll stick with my steering lock until Lexus come up with something.
  19. That is pretty much what happened to mine. Also North London but they did not cause as much damage because I managed to catch the F***er in the process. I am pleased your car was not stolen either. A blanking plate, which is what Lexus are apparently working on, would at least stop them getting into the wheel arch. I don't think they are able to do a software update due to the way the various busses are set up. Besides the scum bags will still cause all the damage before realising that their equipment may not work. Let's hope something is done soon.
  20. Hi Graham, I was just wondering whether you have heard any more from Lexus? I did inform my Lexus centre about this but it was a surprise to them! They did not know anything about this.
  21. That sounds very promising Graham. For them to move so fast on something means that the issue is a lot worse than we think. I will be first in line to get this fitted.
  22. Farraday pouches/boxes will stop someone 'stealing' the signal with antennas etc. but unfortunately will not have any bearing on someone using the Can Bus method to steal the car
  23. Definitely a glimmer of hope and should be a simple and cost effective solution. Putting a secure metal plate to cover the area beneath the wheel arch is so simple and will certainly reduce theft. The question is how long is it going to take.............
  24. Do they only fit them if you are insured through Lexus insurance? They are very expensive compared to other insurers.
