Thank you all for your comments. I noticed this during an evening journey when illuminated lights were on, so it could well be due to the heat being emitted by the bulbs. I will keep an eye out to see if it differs during day and night.

Hi, I have recently bought an RX400h 2006 model and have noticed that radio/audio control switches and temperature control switches (eg temp setting button, defogger button etc) all heat up. Its a similar situation with tape and cd compartment. Is this normal or potentially an issue with my car? Thank you for your help.
