  1. That would make a lot of sense, wife took our old toilet seats to the local dump around 6 months ago 🤣 It must have fallen loose and eventually fallen through the boot lining haha
  2. So my IS300H had been "rattling" for the past 3 days. Suspected a loose muffler/silencer but checked the boot for any loose items first. Underneath the boot liner I found this small metal piece - loose and rattling around. Never seen it before but it's quite corroded. Removed it and no more rattling, so it appears this was the cause. Any idea what it could be, or where it's from?? It has a hexagonal shape inside. I'm totally baffled by it!
  3. So... an update... Went back to ATS, they confirmed no new TPMS sensor had been damaged/replaced during the tyre changes, but checked with an Autel MaxiTPMS tool and confirmed that one of them was not giving any reading. Contacted my local Lexus dealer (as I'm booked in for a 100k service next week anyway) and they said they'd be happy to take a free look as I'm coming in next week anyway. On the way to the Lexus dealer, the TPMS light suddenly went off - checked with Carista on arrival and that sensor was no longer giving an error, all 4 were reading. Lexus took a look anyway and confirmed all 4 batteries were still fine. They said after a tyre change, sometimes the sensors take a while to "re-activate", adjusting to a large deflation/re-inflation which throws them off. It took around 150 miles of driving to re-activate it, but all is working fine now!
  4. There were no problems with the sensors prior to today. Only new tyres (and valves) were installed but the TPMS sensors weren't replaced - I've checked my list of TPMS serial numbers from last year and all 4 on Carista are still the same, it's just that one can't be read - the car is coming up to 8 years old so I'm tempted to think the battery has gone and it's no longer transmitting? I drove 120 miles after getting the tyres fitted and no TPMS warning light at all - so the sensors were still working when I'd left, but later in the day, one was giving an error and can't be read.
  5. I've tried resetting, but the TPMS light is permanently on (not flashing) and holding down the reset button doesn't cause the light to start flashing, so it doesn't seem to start the reset process? Hmm...
  6. I had all 4 tyres replaced by ATS Euromaster this morning - it drove home fine but the TPMS light came on this evening and stayed on despite 40 miles of driving. Plugged my Carista OBD in just now and one of the tyre sensors shows an error code, can't be read. What's the likely cause - faulty sensor (damaged during tyre change?) Would it best to take it to Lexus to get it fixed?
  7. I had mine done last week. From walking in to driving away was 85 mins - I just sat in the lounge looking at new models in the showroom and having coffee. I was offered £30 worth of E10 or £20 worth of E5 at the end - petrol station opposite so they drove across and filled up. Free polish and wax too.
  8. I'm not sure how it's calculated with Lexus? On my previous BMW a technician told me it was calculated by a sensor in the engine analysing the current fuel-oxygen ratio being used.
  9. I did an experiment last week driving from Leeds to Brighton in my IS 300H. Tank was almost empty at the start (50 miles remaining) - filled full with Sainsburys E10 and the max range showed as 530 miles. I'm not sure what % ethanol they put in their E10 up north. I used exactly half a tank on the drive (distance covered was approx. 270 miles). Ran down the tank again before returning home and filled full with E5 from Esso - on the south coast their E5 has 0% ethanol. Max range showed as 585 miles and used 2/5 of a tank returning home, so fuel economy was a lot better as expected.
  10. The IS300H manual also tells you how to jump start from a non-hybrid car. The dealer said it risks damaging the hybrid system though and they wouldn't recommend it.
  11. I also contacted my local Lexus dealer to check if the car had the 12V battery condition checked during its 60k service last year - they recommended hybrids never be jump started from another car, only from a battery pack. I knew you shouldn't jump start another car FROM a hybrid, but any reason why a hybrid shouldn't be jump started from another car?
  12. It is a bit pricey, but there's an Argos 5 mins walk from my flat - I went and picked it up immediately. I also had a £30 Argos cashback offer on my credit card so that offsets it. I went for the bigger one just in case - it came out of the box with 75% charge and took only 30 mins to charge up to 100%. Just successfully jump started the car via the terminals under the bonnet - it powered up first time. This evening I'll take it for a spin along the motorway and try to get some juice back into the battery.
  13. Thanks - what's better, connect to the terminals under the bonnet and jump start, or connect to the 12V battery in the boot to charge it, and try starting as normal?
  14. My IS300H has been sitting unused for 6 weeks (I've had long COVID symptoms and have been effectively bed bound for 6 weeks - couldn't go outside to start the car at all). I went to start it up this morning and got the dreaded "hybrid system has stopped" message and the car wouldn't start up - seems like the 12V battery has become discharged. I don't have a plug socket nearby (car is parked in an underground basement with no plug sockets whatsoever) and I can't jump start it either as other cars can't access the basement, so I need a battery-based jump start pack I can charge in the flat and take down. These 2 from Argos look good but I don't know if I need the 13000 mAh or 6000 mAh version? Can I just connect it directly to the 12V battery in the boot and let it charge up for a few hours? https://www.argos.co.uk/product/8793591 https://www.argos.co.uk/product/8727732
