  1. Thanks Colin - Yeah I saw these and I may have to go with these. The only thing to think about is will they discolour overtime/will it be a good colour match with the other mirror etc. Also, will need to find a mechanic that would be willing to go through the effort of putting the mirror components in this new part. I might try myself if I can find a video on how to replace a mirror.
  2. The part marked with green arrows is what I need to replace. The bit that’s circled in red is where the damage is (a hole and some cracks). The top/crown of the mirror is blue arrow but that’s ok
  3. Hi everyone, Is it possible to replace the covering that’s around the mirror? The mirror is fine and the electric folding and mirror adjustments works in every way. The only snag is that I now have a hole in the front of the covering following a minor accident (around the narrow part of the mirror). See attached in the picture. I have looked on Yoshi parts and also on Amayama. I didn’t see the part I was after. I called Lexus and they said the top-back covering can be replaced (the glossy part) but if it’s the Matt black covering (the one thats all around the mirror) then I have replace the whole assembly at a cost £550 plus vat. anyone got any suggestion on cheapest way to fix this?
  4. Thanks Rayaans, Is this website tried, tested and genuine? Only asking as they quote in GBP but part is shipped from overseas. Also, does import/customs charges apply? thanks v much
  5. Hi I am after this part "52151-76010" but the search on the web shows availability outside of U.K. and prices in dollars. Lexus dealership in U.K. has given me this part number and the price £300. This is a centre trim that fits into the rear lower bumper and it £300 seems excessive for a dark grey plastic trim. Have searched eBay and on the web - can’t find very many people selling this part as new or second hand any idea where else I can try? thanks in advance
  6. Nope it’s a problem with the paint on the bonnet. Not maintenance related. you have to carefully look at the spot to see the issue - can’t see it as you walk by - lacquer is intact but it looks smudged underneath it. When you run your fingers over its smooth as a baby’s bottom
  7. Good outcome there. My daughters Lexus UX which is under 2 years old has exactly the same issue as your car. I need now to sort that out. I doubt I’d get anywhere with my issue on the NX as selling dealer hasn’t bothered to respond. I may just get it redone at a paint shop.
  8. I am not sure if Lexus paint is flawless. I have a Lexus UX in the house too which is under two years old and has paint issues. Not quite like on my NX but an issue with paint.
  9. Hi all Right, this is the update I took the car to local dealership. The dealer measured the car paint thickness and have concluded that the bonnet was repainted either by the previous owner or the dealer I bought the car from. Bear in mind I bought the car in 2018 when it was just two years old so I would have expected to have been informed of this at the time of purchase but I wasn’t. I have contacted the selling dealer as well and their view is that they never repaint cars that are for sale as it’s not cost effective for them to do so and if it was repainted by the previous owner then they wouldn’t have known about it when it was returned back to me (I believe it was on PCP by the first owner). None the less the selling dealer is going to dig into the paperwork to see what records they have for the car. I am not finding the dealer responsive and I suspect they won’t want to take any accountability for selling a fairly new car with a repainted bonnet. I have taken it to local Body Shop and they have quoted £260 to repaint the bonnet and they reckon they can get a good match with paint that’s around on the panels etc. Lexus have estimated a cost of £800-£1000 to repaint the bonnet, pillars and side panels as they believe that to get a good match you’d have to paint panels around the bonnet. I am not sure what I will do so will hold on for the time being in doing anything thanks all for your input and comments
  10. I will let you know the cost once the local dealer gets around to giving me a quite
  11. I guess time will tell. Judging by the pictures it appears that the stain on your has gone through the laquer. I may be wrong. If it won’t go away with a wash or you can’t T-Cut it out then that’s likely indented under the top layer layer. Mine is also about the size of old 5p coin but in my case the edges are raised so I can only expect it getting worse as water will get through and jet wash will probably won’t help. I am waiting for dealer to respond and I have also asked the selling dealership for their comments before I take it a body shop to get it done privately.
  12. Do you have pictures you may have taken at the time of purchase that shows that mark? If you do then perhaps you could show that to the dealer. Just a thought. I tend to take some pictures just before purchase. Not everyone does.
  13. It’s disappointing that this happens to a young car in modern days with modern technology. I think it’s poor workmanship or materials. I had a Volvo XC90 that was 9 years old parked in the same street as my Lexus where I have occasional bird droppings and never had any issues with paintwork. My Volvo had a sparkling shine after each wash and I don’t see the same with Lexus. my suggestion would be is to get it fixed before it escalates into bigger cost. Also suggest you contact Lexus customer services expressing your disappointment and for their views. all the best.
  14. I have emailed the dealership locally to me and to those I bought the car from for their comments. There is nothing to suggest that there’s been any kind of repair/repaint. In fact I have noticed tiny specs of yellowish debris indented into the pair work suggesting whatever it is has gone through the lacquer. In couple of places there are very tiny areas where can bare metal.
  15. Thanks - Sounds like it would be wise to get the small patch re lacquered before it gets worse and cost getting bigger
  16. It was two years old when I bought it and I bought it from a dealer. It has one previous owner who had returned the car after the end of its lease. Just to be clear it’s appears to be a coating on the top of the paint that’s come off. The actual paint underneath seems fine.
  17. I do have a tree outside my house and some occasional bird dropping that I generally clean it straight away. I wouldn’t say it’s lots of it. It’s a street parking so not always parked under a tree and previously have had a Volvo, Audi, Toyota that were far older then the Lexus and with similar parking patterns but never had issues with any of them.
  18. Hi Anyone experienced top layer of pain flaking off on an NX 300h? I have attached a picture I appear to have a fault with the paintwork on my Lexus NX 300h bonnet. The top layer or coating on a small area on the bonnet has peeled off. I am aware paint work is warranted for 3 years for perforations and rust but this is neither and I do not expect to see this happen to a car that’s 5 years old. I have owned cars much older then this and have never come across this issues on them so I can only assume this is a manufacturing defect. I have had it serviced last year and as recently as few weeks ago by Lexus Woodford and it is under Lexus Relax 12 months warranty. I have emailed local dealerships but they reckon it’s not under warranty. Any thoughts on what caused it and whether this is a manufacturer issue or not? Thanks
