  1. There is a charging point to jump start them in the engine bay, no need to gain access to battery. Details are in the handbook ,showing the correct places for each lead.
  2. Had all four replaced a couple of weeks ago by Lexus Reading and they collected the car for the day, but think an hour each may be optimistic. As far as I could make out the only way to get to the handles is from the inside, and this means removal of the door panel. Glad they took their time and car returned as new with no marks.
  3. I run a 350 nx premium plus with 16000 miles on it and find the car better than my volvo,s in lots of ways. Seats more comfortable, less noise and good fuel consumption, getting 46 at moment but will drop to 45. This is due to towing a trailer and you should get the 47 they state (these are on the clock from new not by journey where 50 is quite normal) If you tow or use a towbar bike rack ,talk to the dealer as Lexus are years behind Volvo and you have to switch off all reversing warnings yourself via the screen. My only disappointment is that Lexus themselves take no real care of their customers and leave it to the dealers. All my software updates were looked after as expected, but they never came back to me over fuel flap or door handles, both of which can be fixed, but you have to ask. Very good car, good dealers and hope you enjoy yours if you take the plunge.
  4. Car used most days and has covered 16000 miles since new April 22. Lexus Reading are going to check it over and also make sure no drain from towbar. Car used monthly with trailer, but always locked, indeed it's now back to normal and left event this Saturday under its own steam !
  5. Two weeks ago I would have only glanced at this post but after being stuck for nearly fours hours with a flat battery it's not funny. Went to a motorcycle event and left car unlocked so the others could get in, but ignition off and no radio on. Can only assume the opening and closing doors drained battery and when I tried to start, seat went forward but no ready light. Thinking it was just playing tricks got out locked and tried again, lights then flashed, alarms beeping but no start. Called Lexus assist and given an 70 minute wait, this increased every 15 minutes, then went to 4 hours after the first call. Someone came from home with jump leads and started it ourselves. Car in for a check, but they told me it will only give a flat battery code, no faults will show up. Lexus customer service reply to my email is that they use the AA and have no control over there call outs ! A few things to be learnt The car default is to lock all doors when battery flat, so keep one open. Open bonnet at once so you can get to the jump start connections. Keep a power pack with you at all times. This is my first Lexus and really enjoy the car, but at times find it bewildering, I have had a sponge on fuel flap to keep it open, stood holding door handle trying to get in on cold days and now the battery ! Lastly I find it most upsetting that faults that you high light to Lexus Customer service are ignored, both the fuel flap and door handles I have had to request with my dealer after seeing solutions on here.
  6. Not sure if it's a recall, asked Lexus customer service and ignored, but had flat battery so cars in for a check and Lexus Reading are going to do door handles at the same time.
  7. Had to change like others and all went well eventually, but do not use any of the remote features. One change I have noticed is that recalls are now shown in the service record as repairs. Thought old app showed the actual recall and it's reference number.
  8. After three volvo,s with tow bars I was amazed that a car with all the clever electronics does not automatically disable items when towing. In fact I thought it must be an incorrectly fitted tow bar ,but my dealer assured me the Lexus one is just power to the socket and as you have found all systems must be turned off in the car. When using my trailer it just makes a lot of noise and an occasional slam of the brakes, but with a bike rack it's like you have hit a wall in reverse. Nothing in the manual or tow bar instructions mentions this and I feel it lets a great car down.
  9. Not noticed any shake, but had the display move off the bottom of the screen at least five times. This always occurs after the car has been stood not while moving and can easily be readjusted using the steering wheel controls. Have reported it but not a known fault.
  10. Had mine since April last year and the average went up to 48.4 mpg, but over the winter it has gone down to 45.5 , but towing a trailer kills the readings. When towing the best obtained was 40 mpg and I have used the trailer a lot this year. Most of my journeys now show over 50 mpg, but it takes a lot to recover from the poor journeys .
  11. Had the opposite on mine as it was turned off on delivery due to the tow bar, but reset on the first recall. There is a place in the system to turn it on and off, will try to remember where. It could be a fail safe on recalls to turn it off as if it works with a bike rack things could get nasty !
  12. Having also had three Volvo XC60's in the last ten years we purchased our first Lexus and although it's a 350h our main worry was the seats. Can confirm in our case they are equally as good Volvo and the car is a lot quieter. After over a year we are still extremely pleased with the move to Lexus.
  13. Just a warning the towbar electrics only power the socket they do not control the kick sensor or any rear warning alerts. The kick sensor is turned off on the screen and stays off, but the rear alerts need turning off each time you use the towbar. Also beware of any recalls as these can reset the car back to factory settings and the kick sensor will then operate.
  14. Look up the American deep dive tutorial as I am certain they advise turning off the hud when first setting up the cruise control etc. as it's easier to see on the dashboard. They then I am certain to through turning it back on. Hope this helps
  15. Thought it was just my dealer as they are part of a larger group and as a newcomer I found this option to be very poor. Phoned the service centre to ask a question on the car and the person answering asked what make a 350h was !! The dealer have kindly given me a couple of contact numbers for the service department so will avoid the "Lexus centre" next time
  16. Just the same on mine as it would not open while stuck in filling station alone. At home sprayed the inside with wd40 still stuck, so gently inserted a piece of card into flap and that then gave enough pressure to open with the button. Have now greased all parts and still try it every few days to check. Will get it fixed with the software update, but in no hurry.
  17. On my 350h there is a button on dash to left of steering wheel that operates front and side cameras, very useful. This goes off once fully on the move 5/10 mph.
  18. Mine works fine with the Lexus maps, you get a beep and the speed limit is shown in bottom right of map. Does not work if I use goggle maps.
  19. After 5000 miles my reading is showing 48.2 mpg average and this is what I work on, not the one off,s you can get showing 60+ mpg. The car is driven in std mode, air .con on and no cruise control and journeys vary from 200 miles to 15 miles on all types of roads. This also includes towing a trailer with two motorcycles on. Very happy
  20. Mine is now sat at 48.3 mpg with 4500 miles on clock. No eco and air con on all the time. This includes 200 mile trips, short journeys and towing a trailer. Very pleased.
  21. I was told it was not possible on the specification of my car, disappointed as did not want run flats !
  22. My awd 350h has now done 4000 miles with a varied range of driving including towing a trailer and the mpg stands at 47.9. Hoping to get to 48, but not sure as regularly have a 200 mile trip to Cornwall keeping to the speed limits. When the dreaded Link worked it showed 40 mpg towing and 65 mpg on a short trip !!! The above figures are way better than my old Volvo xc60 diesel, so very pleased.
  23. Had one fitted from new and tried it today towing a 600kg. Ivor Williams trailer with a couple of motorcycles . Towed well and fuel not really affected still showing nearly 47 mph average. When in reverse you get the camera and a constant bleep, but other than that all well.
  24. Made two trips to Cornwall from Hampshire and it always seems to start at around 5 hours and gets better the nearer home we get. Usually takes 3.75 to 4 hours, so take no notice of sat nav, but trying goggle maps next time
