<fires up the EPC...> Looks like you're out of luck. I've looked up part numbers for both mirror assembly and outer cover, there are loads of them as you can buy them pre-sprayed. Unfortunately checking the "Part Number Application To Models" only turns up the IS200/300, so they don't fit come fitted to anything else.

But if the TV is an integral part of the car, then the car IS the TV, and is powered solely by internal power (i.e. the car battery). It's just a two-ton portable telly! :D

That's a good set of prices! Depending where you live you may be interested in opening an account with Countrywide. They've got LPG filling stations throughout the west of England, plus a couple in Wales. Most are open 24/7, you just turn up, put your key in, punch in your PIN and fill up. Their list of filling stations can be found here.

Update: found out why the aircon doesn't work. The "gateway ECU" (which interfaces between the BEAN and AVC-LAN systems) can be found on cars with nav and cars with the extra buttons on the steering wheel (such as the GS430). If you have neither, then you'll just find a grey plug with nothing on the end of it, just above the OBD-II port. That's what I've got! If I can source a gateway ECU (part no. 89111-30010, found only on facelift-model GS300/Aristo, no other cars) I'm home and dry.

Considered anything Panasonic? I bought an NV-GS400 ages ago, really, really nice camera. Only reason I haven't bought one of the newer Panasonics is that I simply don't need one!

An update: I've finally got round to having a go at installing the nav system in my non-nav GS. So far:- Fitted GPS antenna (hidden under the high-level brake light pod) Run new cabling from boot to dash, fitted plugs (8 wires go straight from nav unit to display, but there are other signals and power feeds as well) Tapped into GTX connections which used to go gateway ECU -> radio, but on nav systems go gateway ECU -> EMV display -> radio Tapped into speed and gauge power (both from the instrument cluster) Tapped into backlighting (not mentioned in the main radio/nav/AC diagrams, it's on the "illumination" diagram with wrong pin numbers) Tapped into ground (from radio, plus in the boot) Tapped into another illumination feed (comes from body ECU but can be picked up at the clock) Run power cables (accessory and permanent) where I can hook them up for testing Plugged in nav unit (in boot) and display/radio combo (in dash) What works:- CD Radio Navigation Tape probably works as well What doesn't work:- Heater/aircon controls (displays "Check the connection of Air Conditioner" when I try) Still to connect (if I can get the aircon bit working):- "TC" connection (goes to OBD-II port where it shares a pin with the engine/ECT ECU) Parking brake switch connection (from display) "REV" connection (goes to engine/ECT ECU so that boot-mounted unit knows when car's in reverse) "SMUT" connection (mute signal from boot-mounted unit to amplifier) Speaker wires from boot-mounted unit to/from front-right speaker wire For now I'll have to put the old one back in. Display looks great, but no good if I've got no heating in the car!

Mate of mine's using an old LS400, gas converted, as a cheap runner to and from work! Ex-LOC, bought on eBay.

Saw a laptop running Vista a few months back. Laptop was at the time only a few months old. Vista came pre-installed. Ran like an absolute dog. If it was mine I'd have taken it back, because it was utterly atrocious. Meanwhile I'm running here on a Compaq Evo N620c, Windows 2000, never a moment's problem. Not putting XP on it, I like my file and print sharing to actually work ta very much :D

Just out of curiosity (as I don't have an IS) what's the plastic key cover? Is it part of the handle? Part of the key? Part of the bootlid? Part of the steering column? I'm trying to picture what it could be! :P

Not putting you all in the same boat. I know most lorry drivers are knights of the road, etc., it's just that a some obviously need to pay more attention to the less robust vehicles around them. Anyway (and I mean no disrespect to GWilso by redirecting this topic straight back on track, point made, point taken, sorry if I've got your back up) back to my earlier question... to get insurance to fix it (paying the excess, telling them for the next five years that yes, I have had a claim in the last five years but it wasn't my fault, etc. etc.) or to get it done myself. Pop quiz hotshot, what do you do...?

Got hold of the logistics company we think was involved. No CCTV showing incident occuring and no witnesses = no joy. Reported to the police, officer dealing with it admitted that it's pretty much a paper exercise and that nobody's likely to get nailed unless a witness appears. Round the corner from the nick is a body repair shop, so popped in to see the guy there. Whilst chatting to him about JAE and stuff (turns out he's a Mk.4 Supra owner) managed to push the panel partway back out (it's single-skin so easy to get at, if I remove the aerial I should be able to access the whole panel from the inside). Looks like the pushed-in panel is what's bending the bumper too, so fixing one should fix the other. He gave me a figure to think about - £250-odd to fill and paint - and suggested checking my policy first to see what the excess is. Excess is £300, so considering pushing the panel back out myself and getting him to do any necessary filling and (obviously) spraying. Trouble is, he's up to his eyeballs in work so I might have to take it elsewhere and beg/borrow (not steal) a car to use while it's there. What do you guys think?

If they don't play ball I'll let them know it's being reported as a fail-to-stop RTC, and that all the evidence (CCTV, bits of paint that were scraped off the lorry, etc.) will be handed to the police. They can even argue that I hit the lorry instead of the other way round if they like - there's more CCTV in one of our other offices that places me 60 miles away from my car at the time!
