  1. Hmmm, it would also seem that certain local authorities are getting very edgy, making sure their lists of phones in buildings that will still work if the power & switchboard fails are up-to-date all of a sudden. Not naming names, like...
  2. I believe the figures kick in in March next year. Assuming (a) your road tax is due and (b) the tax rise goes ahead, you'll save money by taxing your car for 6 months this time round. Your next twelve-monther will then be due at the end of November, staying ahead of the rise. Mine's due at the end of July, my one after that will be end of Jan.
  3. Mine's gassed. Several Morrisons supermarkets in South Wales sell LPG, there are also some suppliers you can set up an account with (if in the west you can open a fuel account with Countrywide). Mine's got the Romano Sequential Vapour Injection (multipoint) system with a 75 litre toroidal tank (60 litre usable capacity) in the wheel well. Goes well, especially after I upgraded the Romano ECU's firmware to 33.0 a few months back. Got a Flashlube system fitted at the same time as the install (search on eBay) as this is strongly recommended for Toyota engines. Conversion done by Phil Price Autogas in Mid Wales, for £1700 inc. VAT and servicing for as long as I own the car. Range: typically 230-240 lead-footed miles on a tank. Drove from Burnham-on-Sea to Stoke-on-Trent to Mid Wales today, got 276 out of it.
  4. Put a load of gaffer tape over the tax disc, then give the council a call.
  5. I set off one of those odour fogger bomb cans in the car a few weeks back. Still smells nice in there. Bought off eBay (search for odour bomb, searching for "car bomb" doesn't give the same results unfortunately). I can recommend the cranberry one.
  6. If they'd repaired the hole properly in the first place (in March) there wouldn't have been a pothole for you to hit in April! What you appear to have taken a photograph of is a large pothole, only half of which has been repaired.
  7. When they close the account, make sure they say WHY they're closing the account...
  8. Would that be the annual Porsche Owners Club meet, sponsored by Armco? :P
  9. What size tyres/wheels are on there as standard?
  10. Is it me or were Porsches the only cars having a problem with that bend?
  11. Sounds to me like a faulty sensor. If you know where the control box for the sensors is you could disconnect then reconnect each one until you find one which stops beeping when you unplug it. Walking round the car should then identify which one it is (one of the sensors will now appear to be "blind" and not notice you in front of it). Or you could just get the dealer to fix it under warranty and let them figure out which one's gone.
  12. Believe it or not I recouped my membership fee buying wooden doors for the house, thanks to the long arm of the LOC!
  13. It ain't if you declare it first. HMRC will provide you with an EX103 form if you ask them. Also, if you produce less than 2,500 litres of biodiesel a year, you pay no duty. Nice!
  14. If I had a diesel I'd be running it on chip oil right now, declaring how many litres I'm putting in, of course! "Yeah, I only use about 10 litres a month, rest is diesel. Honest."
  15. If an LS430 puts out 289g per km, that equates to 465g per mile...

    Tyres

You haven't omitted it totally. Terms and Conditions are a wonderful thing...
  17. What've you got for it? I know the K&N Typhoon kit for the IS300 doesn't work on the GS (tried it, sounds great but runs like a dog).
  18. Then there'll be a market for "ultra-low-emission" piggyback ECUs, if such a thing is possible! Fit it (or even hire it), MOT it, then disconnect it.

    Hello

Gold badges are an aftermarket add-on, got them on mine. Imports are likely to have a Toyota badge on the steering wheel. Oh, and two big snail-shaped things under the bonnet that make it go really fast!
  20. Exact figure depends on trim level and transmission, duty bands and prices taken from page 122 of this document. 21. Comes to something doesn't it, going for six-month tax to SAVE money! Mate of mine's done the right thing and buggered off to Spain!
  22. Wouldn't have got my vote at the next election anyway mind, round here it's a two-horse race between Conservative and Lib-Dem.
  23. Wonder what would happen if one of these cars wound up on a Q plate?
