Quick update on the replacement mirror After a few days of Walt Disney's magic formula both mirrors resorted back to their old ways, in fact even worse, as I had to get a second person to assist me me get them both open at the same time. So D day arrived and like magic both mirrors were working perfectly. The dealership replaced the drivers mirror as agreed, but found no fault on the other side. They did look at the AFS system, as the light was constantly flashing, but couldn't find a fault. So it was rebooked in for a full check of all the ECU reading to see where the error was coming from. However a faulty connection was found and the car is now completely fault free. Now the sun is out and the roof is down, so happy summer driving to you all. Steve

This is a great topic and i'm also eager to see the conclusion, although I have a small mission to get to this stage. Both my mirrors are a little shy and refuse to fully extend or retract without a caring hand. My car is still covered by a Lexus main dealer warranty, so a trip back to the garage was arranged. However I was informed that the motor was at fault and they can no longer get the parts. I did try a water displacement lubricant and this seemed to fix the passenger side, but drivers side was not responding to any kind of therapy. After some investigation I managed to find a supplier of genuine Lexus parts and with some gentle persuasion the dealer agreed to order the part and have it re-sprayed as no longer available in my colour. So far it has taken 4 weeks for the part to arrive and then 3 weeks in the bodyshop, followed by another week to book it in to be fitted. When it goes in next week, I will then have to have the same chat about the passenger side which has now gone back to its ever shy-fulness.

Cheaper than an engine rebuild. Rubber can deteriorate over time due to to the nature of the material. Most manufacturers are XX miles or 6 years, so definitely overdue. Steve

Hi John You can get any 2 DIN unit to fit, but you will also need to get an audio adaptor to work with the Mark Lawrence amp, which does make it an expensive replacement. I have just had mine replaced by Lexus, so they are still in stock, but have to come from Japan. Steve

Hi Ant Whilst the light wood, i believe they call Ash, is nice, i do prefer the darker wood, which you tend to get with the black and dark leather trims. So I was lucky to get this combo.

Hi Ant I have a gold one or Chardonnay Pearl Metallic to be more precise. Trim is cream leather with the dark wood. Had this for about 4 months now, but still cant get over the exhaust notes when it starts up. Steve

They do have a look of luxury and grandeur. As i'm still working from home, i have to admit I do spend more time looking at the car than driving it. Enjoy Steve

Hi Boersma Unfortunately the Lexus has a non standard Mark Lawrence amp, so you will need a converter (see link) if you want to enjoy the quality that tis amp provides. Thanks for the info. They are summer tyres and are brand new, fitted by Lexus before i bought the car. Sounds like a good set of softer Dunlop SP tyres might be better?

If you look at the video you will see in the bottom corner is the old rear box, but also look are the pipes that when back to the resonator, they are flattened at the point they go under the rear axle, which must cause a real restriction. Allowing the car to breath better has improved performance and also economy.

Yes everything is original at the front and middle, so two front cats going into single middle cat. Then splitting out to two rear resonators. From then it is straight pipes. The only thing removed was the rear silencer.

Hi Guys I've have my SC for about a month now, and finding the front end very skittish over the white lines, or anything that is not smooth. Is this normal or just the wrong tyres? Would be interested to know what the preferred boots are for these cars. Steve

Hi Lexiguy I still have all the cat's in place, otherwise you would get more of that V8 rumble and lots of crackle and popping. which to be honest I do love, but I also like the quietness of the Lexus, so I will stay on for the moment, but do watch this space....

Hi Boersma Lexus stopped making the DVD's for the GEN3 satnav in 2017, however it does use a 3rd party software possible used on old Jags and Land Rovers. So some clever person has managed to get the latest maps with speed camera's and reverse engineer it back to the Lexus software. I suspect the icons are in the wrong format and therefore wont show. As an alternative I do use Radarbot on my mobile which does work very well, and TomTom do a free version too for the android phones. Steve

Just purchased one of those ebay DVD updates. All working and has the latest maps (2021), but can't get the speed camera's or speed limits to display. Can see them in the list and even set a destination to they, but they just won't show on the map. Has anyone done this and got them to work?

The exhaust was fitted by TGH Customs in Hayes. Just had the rear box removed. so cut the pipes after the resonators and run straight pipes out. The cost would have been £450+VAT, but decided to have slash tailpipes which was another £200+VAT. Still quite when cruising, but with a hint of V8 magic. VID-20211023-WA0001.mp4

Hi New to the club and first time Lexus owner, so apologies if anything I have done offends anyone. However I have just had the rear exhaust backbox removed with straight though pipe from the rear resonators, so now have a reasonable good rear box for sale if anyone is interested. As for the car, I can say to hear the V8 rumble is a joy, it is still quite, so won't upset the neighbours, and on first impression seems to have improved mpg by 1-2 miles.
