  1. Looking for an IS200 front grill (standard) ? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...ssPageName=WDVW
  2. Have a standard is200 grille. Anybody want one?. Either pop round for it or pick up the cost for postage - let me know (may have a small insect collection on it but other than that it's fine - well certainly is for free anyway) Cheers jenners.
  3. Just my tuppence. Having been a Lexus driver for nearly 3 years - but now have an X5 - I can honestly say that I still don't misuse my fog lights ! - I see plenty of Is200's with their front fogs on but I wouldn't put all Lexus drivers in the same category of driving with their fogs on all the time ! :D
  4. ...and I thought special heaters came out at the front to melt all the snow to provide a snow-free surface to drive on ! - well you learn something new everyday !
  5. Well I don't personally know a Miss Lie but if she's as big as you are suggesting she is then I suspect she would be capable of sinking LOC and the QE2 !!!
  6. Haven't noticed myslef although it could be in the same school of thought with the reversing beep to remind you are are reversing - this could be a similar concept to let you know you are turning the steering wheel
  7. Click here for thread with photo's of pitting wheels
  8. double standards there ! - in one sentence you say you were travelling through the alps with sp9000's on and then tell us to use our common sense - sp9000s are not winter tyres I don't expect to the snow button to do anything - now that I know it does nothing
  9. Rather than watchdog - I'd consider using the AutoExpress people. They always have a weekly section on car owners having 'problems' Seems when AutoExpress get involved everthing seems to sort itself out. To be honest, I wouldn't expect to see Lexus appearing in that section - hopefully it won't come to that and they see the light of day !
  10. Except if the car was bought outside the UK but within Europe ! :D I believe Lexus GB are treading on dodgy ground with regard to European laws on treating goods bought within Europe differently. I don't mind passing on any savings I made on my purchase but in the long run, whislt the UK (including dealers and consumers alike) treat the cars differently there will always be the large difference in price between the UK and our european counterparts.
  11. All mine were replaced under warranty for the reason that javadude mentioned. i.e. the drum was looking corroded. I wasn't sure whether it was corroding so that it was dangerous or just that it didn't look very good ! - wasn't complaining though !. I would persue it if I were you - made a little but trickier that you have done the 60K miles though but still worth persuing - I mean if they chose to mention it at the 60K service - did they not spot it at the 50K service or had it suddenly started corroding since then ?
  12. I remember hearing about this same thing on tv about a month ago - can't remember which programme - sorry Seems that if it did work then it would very useful - however, aren't car thieves these days too clever - I mean what's stopping them from removing the number plate for a start and then replacing it with another one with a 'forged' chip - it never takes them long to catch up with new regulations/technology and find a way around it.
  13. Another small detail that they mentioned on last night's "Rogue Traders" was that 6 out of 16 sold a battery where it was not necessary - they gave the impression that all of them were doing it!.
  14. Hi Claire, before I imported mine I had reservations about insurance but have had no problems at all whatsover. I first went with Admiral and have been with Direct Line for some time since and they don't treat it any different to any UK sourced car (as mentioned before - there's no difference than a UK car). If I had a grey import then I would expect to pay a little more because of the differences between those and UK cars. Just for reference my insurance quote is £470 (fully comp obviously !)
  15. Tony, given that they are all made in Japan anyway, all that has happened is that I brought it into the UK and I registered it myslef within the uk etc etc rather than a dealer doing the same thing. Technically they are all imports !. Don't think you've got the wrong end of the stick at all. If I hadn't imported this car I would not know what the process is and would ask a lot of questions regarding any differences in spec but as Risky_is200 has said there aren't any difference in the spec. All the dealer in Denmark did was to order a UK specification car from Lexus in Japan, as would any UK dealer. The car just got delivered to Denmark instead of the UK and I drove it from Denmark to the ferry and then home ! - simple as that. :D
  16. Yep, Can confirm that it was bought new from Lexus Denmark. Exactly the same spec as a car ordered from the UK, only difference is the cover offered, which has been mentioned previously, which is covered by Mondial instead of RAC. It's true that Lexus dealers will pay less for imported cars because (according to the dealer) Lexus GB prevent them from selling non- UK sourced cars. This whole setup helps to maintain their grip on selling cars at inflated prices - and then second hand buyers 'expect' to pay less for them as well - which is fair enough. Hence the price of my car is a lot cheaper than a similar spec car in the same condition but sourced from a Lexus dealer in the UK. I am happy to pass on the saving that I made when I bought it.
  17. Were you getting the sledge to tow your IS home Think they should relabel the SNOW button to 'SNOW-GOOD' or rewire it so that when it's pressed the car doesn't start so you can't attempt to go out !!
  18. When we first moved into our current house a couple of years ago it snowed and I couldn't get the IS out of our close which is at the bottom of an incline leading up to gates. Never got anywhere near the gates ! :( . All four other cars managed it. They were front wheel drive - I tried going up backwards - putting two heavy bags of sand in the boot - but it was still not having any of it. Now we have salt it shouldn't be a problem but I was suprised at the lack of traction. Once the car was out it was fine though :D That snow button is a waste of space in opinion ! -
  19. Yeah sorry tony, do remember now you mention it. Hope your dealer gets you exactly what you want. You will obvioulsy get the 12 months warranty buying from a dealer and no doubt be gleaming throughout. If not then give me a shout again about mine if you are interested - it is well within your price range and has manufacturers warranty until aug '03.
  20. Mine is going to be advertised fairly shortly but it's plat ice and not granite sky as you require. Now has 28K with sat nav as well - 4 recent new tyres.
  21. X5 3.0 Sport. Arrives first few days of March - if it survives the trip from the US by boat !
  22. I was too tempted and I am trading mine in for an X5 ! :o :o It is a smart car - tested the Rx300 as well but was put off by the lack of options and the looks and the rubbish trade in price from the Lexus Dealer ! - a relative has just bought an Rx300 so don't feel too guilty - I'll promote the benefits of going gold - shouldn't be too difficult !.
  23. I've put them in the gallery. Hope these are what you wanted. jack
  24. Can do. I'll post them onto you later tonight / tomorrow.
