  1. So..... we have a 2013 450h that we have had since 2015 and 13k miles, now on 64k miles. It has had a rear end 'creak' for quite a few miles now. So, I decided to investigate. Initially I though it was the exhaust rubbers that were creaking but it wasn't that. Next I suspected suspension bushes but before looking into those I had another idea. I suspected it may be the rear tailgate that was causing the rubber like creaking like noise so I set about lubricating all the touch points between the tailgate and main body. Firstly with GT85 and then with WD40. Result.... no more rear end creaking. Not saying this will be everyone's issue but, it is certainly worth giving it a try before exploring an expensive route.
  2. Finally had the same clarified with me today. Our 450h is 10 years old on the 31st of this month but the 12 month extended warranty is valid for 12 months from the date of the service which was 23rd Nov, so expires 22nd Nov 2023. Thanks for the feed back folks.
  3. Problem with re-gen braking is the actual brakes are not applied like a normal ICE vehicle. After doing the job today I took the 450h out and was quite brutal with the brakes, when I got home they were still stone cold.
  4. Well done Ian. I have had my Gen3 450h for almost 8 years now. Despite having two others cars the 450h is still my 'go to wafter', so silky smooth.
  5. Well today I got round to removing the o/s disc. I have never seen a disc so corroded. These discs (genuine Toyota allegedly) are 4 years old next month and have done just 17,000 miles. Corrosion has claimed about 50/60% of the inside surface and about 20% of the outside surface. The original discs and pads lasted 44,000 miles. The calliper mounting bracket was showing signs of heavy corrosion too. Do we have a preferred parts supplier as I will probably swap out the calliper carriers too when fitting the replacement discs and pads.
  6. I actually part exchanged my 450h in for a Porsche Macan almost 5 years ago now. A week after trading it in we missed it so much we tracked it down and bought it back from the dealer, £2k more than I sold it for.... that was the most expensive 'car wash' I have ever had 😁 Still kept the Macan though. It has been with us 7 years now.
  7. Dave the service guy said it will only cover me for 2 months. As with all 'insurance policies' they will have done their home work, I will drop a 'monkey' in a spare bank account each year to pay for any unexpected work that needs to be done.... I doubt very much it will ever be emptied 😉
  8. Dave pointed out I have a full 12 months extended warranty after todays service, this is for vehicles up to 10 years old.... mine is 10 in January so it only lasts 2 months 🥴
  9. Totally agree with what you're saying here and that is exactly how I drive/brake. But, todays service advised the front pads are 50% worn with 6mm remaining and front discs excessively corroded, this is after only 17k miles. I have had a quick look when we got home (it was dark so with a torch) and one disc does indeed look corroded, the other looks fine, they were both replaced 17k miles ago with genuine Toyota/Lexus ones.
  10. An update to this one. Just got back from Lexus Chester. 60k service done and looked after by Dave, they even did a short vid mid way through the sparkplug replacement which is an 'involved' job on the RX450h. £630 for this big service. Confidence restored in Lexus Chester once again.
  11. Fitted a set of 235/55 R19 to my 450h last year, great tyres with no complaints here.... well yes I have one complaint, we had no snow last winter so I couldn't try them out in the slippy stuff.
  12. Thank you. My 3 visits to Chester were not desirable ones. The last time they had my RX they phoned me up to say it urgently needed new front discs and pads, their quote for doing the work seemed high so I thanked them for letting me know and said I would do the work myself. I ordered genuine parts and duly fitted them, the removed discs were not in a bad condition at all and the pads had between 5 & 7mm on them, so I'm not sure why they decided they urgently needed replacing. That was 3 years ago now and maybe things have changed but bad experiences, 3 times, will be hard to forget. I will let you know where I end up taking the RX.
  13. Greetings all, My 2013 RX450h will be due its 60k service this year, obviously this includes the spark plugs being replaced. Not having much faith in my local'ish dealer, Lexus Chester, I wonder if anyone can recommend a good independent in the Shropshire area? I have done the last two services myself and replaced the front discs and pads. Having looked at YouTube videos of the Spark plug replacement procedure it does look a little 'involved' to say the least 😬
