  1. Hi Guys and Gals, A few weeks back I got a set of 4 new Goodyear Eagle Ace 6 F1 Tires for my car but ever since getting them fitted, the car just doesn't feel right at all. To cut a long story short I've had the tracking and balancing redone by an independent, basically to make hardly any difference; so I asked Goodyear for advice. I inevitably took it back to the original place who fitted the tires to get "some checks done" and they also did a wheel alignment and balancing, apparently the tracking was off as the front wheels both had their toe pointing outwards. So after the work was completed, I tried driving the car but it still didn't feel very balanced; I gave it a few days thinking it was a placebo of being "OK" but ultimately it's no different. When on the motorway I feel as if I'm always slightly fighting the car from going left as if I'm always putting weight on the wheel kind of like a weight is on the right side pulling it down, the tracking seems alright if I keep the wheel straight as it does go straight but it seems to drift left getting progressively worse until I have to inevitably grab and steer back. One thing I also noticed is there's also slight vibrations through when wheel at pretty much all speeds although it feels like it's only coming from the right side which is odd, as it's not massive noticeable like the balancing is off but there's definitely a weird feeling as if it's fidgeting somewhat. I just put this down to new tires giving better road feel though as my old ones I had were ER300s by Bridgestone originally fitted by Lexus. In addition to the drifting the car seems to also turn left whoever I hit a pothole, the wheel will centre basically instantly if I turn left, but if I turn right the car feels more eager to turn in but the wheel doesn't return as fast as it does when turning right; in fact it kind of sits a few degrees off centre to the right and never returns to full centre. I'm totally confused as to where I should go next as this problem seems to be getting kicked down the road, I originally left my car at the tire place who fitted them originally "who are a chain" for two days and all they did is the tracking and wheel balancing; so I'm losing all hope due to the fact it's so bad to drive and I just want it sorted. Does anyone have any ideas on what areas to look for or what I should be asking from the original tire fitters? p.s Sorry for the war and peace, it's all making me very sad.
  2. You're absolutely correct, tbh my first car is an IS250 and I still adore it; however I did have a work van before I bought my Lexus and I've found that I really need something bigger. The only options I can see is a GS250 which is slower than my IS250 with the same engine or going crazy by getting a GSF, which is way out of my budget as a 24 year old and totally imopractical for city driving. I don't want to get rid of my is250 as it does mostly everything I want, however I find myself needing more space for my scuba and camping equiptment; so a 335d or 330i estate is looking like a possible option in the future. I have toyed with buying a 4x4 Skoda Superb and getting it stage 2 mapped, but that seems rather excessive for such a boring car.
  3. Just a quick update, I tried the resetting technique by holding the button for 3 seconds and there was a clicking noise; now it's working fine from both doors, I noticed that the auto mode didn't work in the back until I did this either. Thanks for all the help, I'd buy you guys a pint if I could.
  4. I haven't disconnected the battery recently, it had a new one fitted by the lexus dealership about 2 years ago; so I'd at least hope it should still be good. I'll have a go at the windows tomorrow and see if that fixes and it.
  5. This morning I tried putting down my rear windows in the car via the switches on the drivers door and only the drivers side rear window actually moved. When I operate the window on the rear passenger door via the button on the rear door it goes up and down as intended, however it just refuses to move when using the button on the drivers door. Does someone have any pointers or does it look like I may need to buy a new switch for the drivers door?
  6. Great idea, I'll pop down to screwfix and pick up some bits, got any recommendations as in regards to what silicone sealant I should use?
  7. I never thought about that tbh, should be pretty easy although do you not have to hold the panel in place to stop it popping back out and then curing in that position permanently?
  8. So did you put a big blob on the end of the bracket hook so you could then just screw through it?
  9. I like the fact lexus offer an extra year of warranty every time you take the car in for a battery check (up to 10 years old), although I don't think I'll be getting a hybrid anytime soon I do like the new phev car's; I know people who get free charging at work and don't use a penny in petrol all week.
  10. I got a kid of assorted nylon washers on Amazon, so I should be able to get a good size, thanks for all the help.
  11. I'll have to give that a go, thanks for the advice guys. Tbh the place I bought it from is over 50 miles away, so I'll probably jus fix it myself, plus I imagine they're only going to do what you guys suggested anyways, I'll take the bolt out and find a washer of the same/similar size; it should stop it popping forwards then hopefully.
  12. I had a 1.6HDI Berlingo van which was running a bit rough and getting mediocre fuel economy, got a bottle of Fortè diesel system clraner from an independent garage and it made it run way better whatever it did, it just become much smoother running in general too. I must add that I did have all the filters changed too, including the fuel filter. The problem is there's so many variables it's hard to pinpoint the problem with it "running rough", has it been serviced recently? Also isn't the 2.2D just a very inefficient diesel anyways? I always thought there wasn't much in it between the diesel and petrol IS's.
  13. I forgot to add when I bought the car a few weeks back it was popped out but I did ask the dealership to fix it, which they did but I assume all they did was pop it in by hand. I think I'm probably being a bit nitpicky going back and asking them to fix it to be honestI , was was wondering can I just glue it in and hold it for a while till it stays but I don't want to go bodging anything up; I'd like to see if I could use a washer too.
  14. Mine is deffo broken, it's like the end part is broken off completely as it looks like a U shape.
  15. Has anyone found a solution to this bumper not staying in place? I find that if I turn the screw it will easily screw out but when I get it all the way in, it just doesn't seem to get any tighter and hold the U shaped clip in.
  16. In the new year I hope to take out a membership and was wondering, does the lexus owners club have a small sticker that can be put on my rear window or something?
  17. Speed cameras are just piggy banks, they should focus more on dangerous driving in general.
  18. You know now that you say that, it sort of is but then at the same time it isn't because you're literally getting less petrol when buying E10 for the same price. There is absolutely no positive gain for the consumer. The fact is we're paying so much in fuel duty + VAT on the proviso that it's based on our fuel being a petroleum product, but when your fuel is made up of 10% ethanol it's literally less petrol for the money. The consumer is essentially getting less value for their money because of this scam, if I'm putting E10 in my car I'm getting worse fuel economy, possibly causing dammage and I'm not receiving any sort of parity interms of cost; I can't see any benefit and should have a choice in the matter without being penalised with having to buy "premium" fuels. I think all things in life should be about choice, if you want to opt in or out of ethanol fuel it should be a the consumer who should make that call and it certainly shouldn't be mandated. I still think it's unfair thet were paying the same price for E10 as we did for standard petrol, you can see how I'd expect a 10% discount in VAT to match this. I suspect someone in government knows someone else who's making a lot of money from all of this BS, but it's the tax payer who's missing out as usual. The BBC goes so far to release propaganda saying we need E10 otherwise out bio-ethanol industry will collapse. Why is it my problem, don't we have this thing called a free market?
  19. Basically yes, we're paying fuel duty on petroleum products so when they water it down we should get a discount; the basic fuel should have no ethanol in it though.
  20. Pfff it looks pretty, a seagull (flying rat) decided to leave a massive skid mark on my car today; if I was on my motorcycle I'd say I was lucky.
  21. You could seriously dammage some of the ECU's and other electronics in the car by doing that, it's a bit like getting a bulb that can only take one AA battery and connecting two together, something's got to give but thankfully Fuses exist although I wouldn't rely on them working. I've seen the back plate behind the battery literally melt A joint possibly due to this, seen people destroy ECU's when connecting things up wrong too.
  22. To quote myself I forgot to add the text in relation to my petiton as seen below. Mandate standard fuel be ethanol-free & allow lower VAT for fuel with ethanol The goal of this petition is to mandate that all regular petrol in the UK be ethanol-free and for any alternative fuels with an ethanol content its VAT should be lowered by a percentage up to 20% in accordance with its ethanol content (I.e. E5 = 5% off VAT & E10 = 10% off VAT) New research suggests that Bioethanol is up to 2X worse for the environment in terms of CO2 production than regular petrol, due to the logistics of shipping the product in oil guzzling tankers, farming land, physical engine component damage and the efficiency lost when the fuel is burnt. Ignoring this ethanol issue means we're actually doing more damage to the environment, The consumer hasn't seen a price reduction despite petrol being diluted and the ethanol means less MPG is achieved.
