To be honest, I've tried both and the near full throttle and foot to the floor full throttle makes so little difference when I need a real instant boost in speed. I actually find it safer to gracefully back off and get behind the person I'm inadvertently overtaking. Point taken though.

Coming from a Jaguar F-Pace with 296bhp and a muscular 516lb ft of torque, the NX 300h is very flat by comparison. The times when I would just leave traffic standing, ie when overtaking or joining a motorway, are now long gone. I simply admit defeat before attempting such a manoeuvre with the fear of looking stupid with the engine revving like a boy racers with no pace to match. I've learnt that flooring the accelerator just creates extra noise (Often overplayed by journalists - Its not that load really), but a more gradual pedal feathering creates faster forward motion. Sport mode adds a little more throttle response but is just a gimmick really if you are expecting pinned back into your seat acceleration. That said, with careful consideration it is possible to make headway - just not instantly. An NX will change your driving style for sure and it didn't take me long to adopt a 'whats the point in overtaking' mentality, I might gain another 30 seconds overall to my journey, big deal!. There are times however when I find myself in an unplanned situation where the lack of thrust can be a almost dangerous, thankfully very rarely though. Handling isn't bad at all, but the F Pace would easily out-corner the NX on a tight bend. On the plus side, the NX is a much nicer place to be in than the F Pace. I feel more cosseted and the interior fit and finish is so much better in looks and build. I am just over six feet and have the driving seat set to its max rear and low settings to be comfortable. The lumbar support, in my opinion is useless, all it seems to do is push my middle/upper back forward totally missing my lower back where I think it might be more useful. Thankfully the seat is comfortable enough overall, if not a little small. Note that there is no space at all for a rear passenger behind me using these settings. Do I regret buying the NX? No not at all. For me it is a very refined car 95% of the time and I have learnt to accept its shortcomings and drive accordingly. Sure the NX doesn't quite have the road presence of the 'JAAAG' in my opinion but I really like the styling - and its a little easier to get down twisty single track lanes. The NX was never designed as a sports car and having done all that and countless track days etc, I now fall well and truly into the stereotypical Lexus demographic - I just want a reliable, comfortable, classy, economical and refined vehicle and the NX, for the most part delivers. Its a keeper for me. (Just noticed this thread is a bit old but might be useful to some)

Same car as you Kjacks89 and I took out similar plan including a major. Just figured I might save a few quid if servicing costs skyrocket as my prices are fixed in advance. Plus, the extended warranty is a great attraction to me.

That is strange isn't it. I did state that I've heard of others who have had the update but he wouldn't budge erring on the side of caution. Maybe some 2018 owners are lucky, and some are not with the current version. I was considering doing it myself but if a dealer is hesitant - then so am I .

Quite possibly. He certainly sounded very cautious and I guess they would pick up the bill for any damage caused. They didn't say, just that I would be added to the queue of 2018 NX owners waiting for the update. You obviously have a bad update there which is not performing as it should. Are the dealers not able to work with you until its right?

Bit of an update so to speak: Lexus service called me this morning to say they are waiting for an 'update' for the update! They say "We have successfully updated 2019 NX's but have had issues on 2018 models". They also say damage has been done to 2 x 2018 multimedia units and they cant risk trying the current update until the update has been updated - Apparently this is in the pipeline. In short, they seem to think the current software release and VIN check is a bit premature to be safely applied to 2018 models.. Not sure what to make of that.

kerrso05 Yes I spotted your posts and think you were pretty unlucky there, and treated quite poorly as well. I hope my local dealer doesn't spring any nasty surprises on me like that. To be fair, so far they have been nothing but exemplary in their dealings with me so I will report back tomorrow, hopefully with a big positive shout out for them and a fully working update too. Moleman Cant help but agree with you, seems odd that the Premium Nav in the CT is so different to the one in the NX. Fingers crossed they will find a way round it for you in the future. Must be very disappointing.

To be honest, I was a little disappointed when the salesman said not possible on my 2018 NX, I thought 'What! No CarPlay?!?!' on a reasonably newish premium brand??. Agree with you and saddened that some will be not lucky enough to get the upgrade due to incompatibility. Lucky enough though, I have mine booked in tomorrow for the update but will be £80 lighter as a result.

Had an email from Lexus today, it provides a link to a Lexus web page where you can enter your VIN for a definitive answer to whether you will be able to upgrade your NX, UX or EX to Carplay or Android Auto. Click Here (And scroll down to check VIN)

I wonder if someone could kindly check info from the attached image and tell me if my system can be upgraded to Carplay. Lexus salesman said no when I bought car a short while back but info on this thread suggests otherwise??? I was going to attempt it myself, but not so sure now with the risk of a £3.5K mistake . Car is a NX 300H F-sport Registered Sep 2018. Thanks in advance.

Thanks again Paul. Yes that was one of the pages I checked out but didn't drill down far enough (Lots of confusing (For me anyway) info out there. The attached from that page answers my question and might help other new owners who are a bit confused. I have just come from Jaguar ownership with inControl app so wrongly assumed the Lexus Link might be similar. I now realise the NX does not appear to have its own sim for means of communicating with the 'Mother Ship' so can sort of understand its limitations. At least I'm a little wiser now 👍..

Thanks for the reply Paul, appreciated. The car does have WiFi hotspot but it is currently connected to my home WiFi for experimentation. If I have reached the limit of connectivity, fair enough, I’m loving everything else about the car. Any other NX owners care to chip in? Is there no way to connect phone to car to lock doors, see fuel, see location etc?
