  1. Hi All, 6 months of RX300 SE ownership and still enjoying every minute, all drives are relaxing and smooth, most noticable when we are all tired... I'm planning the next trip and just bought bicycle for all the family, 2 adults and 2 children...does anyone have experince of fitting a bicyle carrier to thier RX.... I've seen the barracuda cycle rack in the lexus show room, prefer to have the tailgate easily accessible so might have to go for that option but don't really fancy buying 4 of those.... Any other suggestions ....
  2. I used an Ipod on my trip and instead of hard wiring just used the GriffiniTrip accessory which allows you to play your music via any fm station in your car.... its an FM Transmitter for the Ipod....don't know if its sold here but its available in the US. Worked a treat and the girls loved controlling the music from the back..
  3. Hi All, Back from France, added 900 miles since delivery last week and although wasn't going to venture into Paris...I did... No dramas with the RX, smooth and mightly impressive, made the holiday that bit special, crusing between 80 to 90 was a revelation...fully laden with 2 small children and usual bits and pieces...even upto a hundred my wife didn't mention a thing and usually she's more sensitive to speed than a footballer is to coacaine (yes I know topical, apparently) Really enjoyed the drive and the RX does have enough grunt on the inclines, The satnav was excellent, made driving to different places we wouldn't have considered so much easier and the points of interest feature is really good; funniest satnav moment....on the approach to the arc de triumph..keep straight and take 12th exit... Overall if you need a 4x4 type luxurious vehicle and want to spend below 40 grand...you'll be barmy not to give the RX a test drive.... :) Really pleased, we'll start planning the next trip...
  4. thanks for the advice, I'll definately watch out, won't be venturing into paris or other crowded places...just a leisurely drive through a few sights in Normandy to put the RX through its paces... incidentally, added 150 miles since delivery...was in the M25 rain storm last night and felt really really safe and secure...RX definately come into its own visibility, comforts...yes this is the first suv I've owned and not used to sitting in a high position on the road...but getting to like it more and more...
  5. Hi All, Its here!! Picked up the RX today... Best decision for our needs, more convinced and we've only done 10 miles in it... I just love the fact that its so smooth....as I've mentioned before not really a big car fan but this has impressed me... :D Lexus Croydons handover gets 11 out of 10...thanks Ian for the pleasurable experience...Can't ever remember thinking that before and this is my 3rd brand new car over the years.. France here we come...get to play with the Sat Nav over half term, and the rear view camera is indispensable...we have a really step drive and doing a 3 point turn without the camera would be very tricky... In short really pleased, I'll let you know how the France drive goes
  6. Easylife, I sympathise with your dilema, keep going back to your dealer until you're happy...if not try another Lexus dealer or write head office...if Lexus are famed for paying attention don't let one useless egg fob you off.. Speejo I'm very interested to know more about how you went about the install... I've got an RX300SE arriving at the end of october didn't order ICE, children still young and I thought it was too expensive and could attract people to break into the car... But very interested in the details of the package you've fitted...
  7. Completed dealer review, gave them 5 stars they were that good... I'll let you know how they fair with the handover...worst handover I've had was my departed TT from Whites in Camberley there was mud all over the back seats...and didn't even clean it properly when challenged... Buying and receiving a New car is all part of what you pay for...So far so good Lexus score well upto now.
  8. I've finally taken the plunge and ordered an RX300 SE Navigation Brechin Slate with Oakham leather... Had another test drive today and feel we have definately made the right choice for a long term family purchase... Now the girls have more space for their moving wardrobe... just have to wait 4 weeks. Wife's pleased with the choice (her choice of colours) In the interim we tried an X3 and I have to say it was awfull...jittery... But I'm glad to belong to the Lexus ownership the dealership have been spot on so far.... Thanks to all on the board for the advice, always good to have feedback Previous cars Vw Golf, Audi TT, BMW 325coupe... Now all I have to do is save up for my 993 Looking forward to trouble free and luxurious motoring :)
  9. Hi All, I've been browsing this site for a few weeks as part of my reseach into taking the leap from carefree adult to child burderned parent ;) Currently have 2 girls under 4 years old and need to buy a reliable/luxury vehicle for long term use...6years+...wife and I don't like estates at all.. tested toureg, xc90 and recently an RX300SE... Looked at X3 and X5 in the past as a previous BMW owner but really want to leave the whole image behind and in comparison too much money for what they are and don't like the styling... Of all cars tested so far, I've never really thought I'd enjoy driving a 4x4 but ihave to say I was very impressed by the RX300SE...left with a big smile... My question is how much of a discount can I really get from the dealers, i'd like to by one new and tempted to order one just after xmas in the hope I can get a bigger discount... Anybody have any bad stories about the RX300se reliability or otherwise. Thanks
