  1. I wrote to both the President and Managing Director and Head of UK Operations (Director of Lexus UK) and the Chief Operating Officer Toyota Motor group Europe on 12th March and today received a letter back stating in writing that my model of NX300h 'IS NOT susceptible to this attack method as the technology which enables CAN Bus theft is not on your car, due to its production date'. My car is a 2017 Plate model F Sport with Premium pack. The letter was from Stephen Hinshelwood, Executive Office, Toyota (GB) PLC. I'm still going to remove both inner splash guards to have a look for myself and probably make some plates up to cover whatever I find. I'm also toying with having the attached made and fitting it to each side under the car, where they attack.
  2. Hey I'm only 62 and I also remember removing the head from the car to decoke it. I also remember breaking down at the side of the road and stripping the car down to repair it, as I always carried spare points, condenser, plugs, a few plug leads, plastic knuckles for the carburettor linkages, fan belt, odd bits of wire, hose repair kits and a gallon of water, plus oil in the boot. Wasn't life simpler in those days😄
  3. Ok, I know that I'm probably going to be inundated with comments, but why oh why doesn't Lexus have heated windscreens? I've got an NX300h F Sport with Premier Pack and its got most options (some I haven't even used yet) but no heated screen. I had to replace the windscreen recently and was told that there isn't a heated screen option as a replacement. In such a prestige car, I would have thought by now that this would be either a standard feature or at least an option. Any Patents should have run out by now I would have thought. My Land Rover Discovery Sport had one, so did some of the Merc's we've had. Even my little Mini Clubman has a heated windscreen which is such a useful thing to have especially at this time of year. Any idea's?
  4. Hi all, Just wondered if I have a problem with my front camera fitted to my 2017 NX300h. I don't use the camera facility to check around the car much, but when I did last night I noticed that there was am inverted and truncated triangle shape in the middle of the display screen when the front camera was activated. I looked in the handbook and this seems like its 'normal' or to be expected, but why. The rear camera shows you exactly what is behind , with no area's blacked out because of this truncated and inverted triangle shape. I expect there is a good explanation, but my warranty runs out next week and if it is an issue, I would like Lexus to fix it under the warranty. Thanks in anticipation of a response.
  5. I'm sure that when I bought my NX300h the passenger door mirror used to adjust automatically when I selected reverse, but it doesn't seem to be doing that now. Does anyone know how to get into the setting to sort this please? Many thanks in anticipation of your help.
  6. Sorry, I didn't mean to start a war of words. I was just trying to say that all car companies need to think a bit 'Greener' and perhaps reduce the amount of rubbish and materials for recycling, when in reality, many of these service items are still serviceable and therefore unnecessarily changed.
  7. Thank you everyone that has responded. The plugs on the NX300h are conventional, in that they are really easy to change, nothing other than the top cover and ignition coils need to be removed to gain access to the plugs. See below https://www.google.com/search?q=how+to+change+spark+plugs+in+a+Lexus+NX300h&oq=how+to+change+spark+plugs+in+a+Lexus+NX300h&aqs=chrome..69i57.12233j0j15&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8#kpvalbx=_U9TnYbr4Ho_zgAb257SIDg23 I think that I will contact Lexus UK to discuss this, as it would be great for all if Lexus advised their dealerships to only carryout necessary servicing. I'm not saying that an annual inspection is not necessary, I would still welcome then checking the car over and paying for that work, its just changing things that really don't need to be changed and causing more waste that needs recycling or dumping that i'd like to avoid.
  8. They didn't, just said that they have to follow the service schedule. Just seems mad in this day and age, when we are trying to stop waste and creating more rubbish. When I first started driving and looking after my own cars back in the 70's, you would change the oil every 3000 to 6000 miles due to it being mineral oil, but now with fully synthetic oil, in real terms it could be done by the mileage travelled. To be honest even doing less than a few 1000 mile a year, I'd probably still change it, but it should be good for 2 years with really low mileage. Same for air filters and pollen filters etc, why change them just down to age, when the car hasn't travelled sufficient miles to get them dirty... Its becoming more and more of an environmental thing and I'm surprised Lexus hasn't already jumped on this, let alone other manufacturer's, but its a good source of great income for them I guess.
  9. Can anyone explain why on the 60,000 mile service they charge £675, when the only difference that I can see is that they change the spark plugs, which you can buy from Lexus for £57 a set. I've just had my 50,000 mile service (the car has only covered 24,500 miles and I doubt I will reach 30,00 by next year. Just seems so expensive, but I want to keep up with the service history. Seems mad changing spark plugs when they haven't even done half of the recommended 60,000 mile replace interval. Sorry, just felt like having a moan...😁
