  1. Okay thanks again. Have ordered another headlight from a breakers in Dartford in Kent. He said they specialise in Japanese cars and it was from a 1995 Windom so there should be no problem. I will post some pictures when I can escape from work. Dan
  2. Thanks for that Steve - I will try it, but I would still like a (near) perfect one if I can get one, without paying Lexus new prices. I also need a few other bits, like one of the buttons on the stereo that is a bit worn and a new leather cover for the steering wheel which is a bit scuffed. This car has been rebadged several times by the look of it, so I had a pro paint job done on the rear and got the gold plated Lexus badges and it's starting to look quite pretty. I have been scouring the net for a while and have found some useful sites, usually breakers, but no sites that specialise in used Lexus parts yet. :D
  3. Hi chaps, I am a bit confused. I have recently bought a Toyota Windom 2.5g 1995 and have been told by my local Toyota dealer that I need to go to Lexus for any bits as this is the Lexus ES300 apart from the badges. I need a nearside headlight assembly as mine seems to be letting in moisture which I believe is an MOT failure. Instead of bothering with Lexus at this stage, I tried Breakerlink for the part and gave the chassis number and was immediately contacted by a chap in Glasgow who sent me the part. It was totally wrong and very square shaped, although the inner workings appeared to be similar. The headlight on my Windom is very long and sleek and wraps around the corner. The supplier in Glasgow assured me it was from a 1995 ES300 and didn't think that the headlight had been changed that year, but of course I had to send it back. I am reading that the Camry shares similar parts to the Windom/ES300. Should I think about ordering Camry parts from breakers? Will the part number from Lexus assist me to get a used part? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks :duh:
  4. Hi chaps, I have just found out (Got the V5) that my Windom V6 2.5g is 1995 and not 1996 on an N plate, so I think I have ordered the wrong manual. I have had problems with insurers who insist on a Thatcham approved alarm/immob or they cannot insure for theft!! The alarm/immob fitted seems very sofistocated and locks the car if you walk away without pressing any buttons, but how do I get it Thatcham approved. My local Toyota dealer told me that as the car came from Japan, Toyota UK could not issue a certificate, but that maybe I could try a Lexus dealer. Confused I am. Has anyone else had these sort of problems or any advice would be most welcome? Should I get an approved alarm/immob for the sake of a better quote? Meanwhile, stuck in the garage for a while longer with no tax.
  5. Thanks again Steve. I will give them a try
  6. Hi chaps, Could anyone recommend any good UK insurers for my imported Windom 2.5g. I have been turned down by my usual insurers as they could not find the car on their system. Thanks
  7. Hello everybody. I have just registered and hope I'm in the right place to get some info and contribute myself if possible. I have just acquired a Toyota Windom 2.5 V6, which I'm told is the same car as the Lexus ES300. It is in near perfect condition inside and out having covered 108,000m and was first registered in 1996 and has a UK "N" plate. I have sent for an English handbook as there is no documentation with the vehicle. Would anyone know the approx. value of the car and if there is any problem with servicing at a Toyota dealer. Thanks for any replies. :D
