  1. i'm really concerned, I work on a £13000 machine, the printout is proof that all is well, where is your cars fingerprint? all future adjustments will follow from this? in addition when a car is lowerd the toe will go \ / not / \ just by the points of application alone.... Where are you? let me set up the geometry, for free.. I work in Watford herts Tony i thought you only gave advise through your web-site i didn't know you could of actually done the settings..i would of come to you in the first place had i known, not that Abbey dont know what they're doing..far from it as they set up road/race cars all the time, and Watfords not that far away from me either and your advise has been spot on plus the fact you know the inhierant problems associated with the IS and you could of made yourself a few quid in the process. :) :) Sorry? i thought that you all knew... my offer still stands, the web site is built on solid 25 years hand's on exp.

  3. don't worry? camber can be off set by the toe, influence useing other angles is a realistic fact?
  4. Good for you both? one or two things that i would like to now, on the geometry print out were there any readings for toe/ out on/ turns ? And scorpion dont worry about the lack of camber adjustment, the ride height now is set very low? if the cam's are fully adjusted now then so what? you are not going any lower are you? OR are you??????
  5. the method of the balance is my interest, the way that the wheel is mounted on the balancer is the point, the wheel must go on to a studed plate, this uses the same way of mounting as there is on the car useing the stud holes, not the wheel centre as this is cosmetic in design and my be off centre?
  6. still reads like wheel balance to me? how well are the tyres wearing? what method of wheel balance as for as the type of mount was used? when did the problem appear was it all of a sudden, a little bit and getting worse, have you just had some work done on the car?
  7. When are you going again Steve...i'll tag along if thats o.k.though i'd like to go sooner than later.? scorpion, since i lost all my mail when the comp hard disc went to disc heven, i also lost the profile that i setup for your IS200? when you had the car lowerd did you have the geometry re-set, if so was it to standard settings? if yes on the geometry print what was the reading for toe-out-on turns, also what wheel size did you have before 16" or 17", from all this i can base the geometry settings for the 18" camber toe kpi= scrub radius
  8. your missing the point, i 100% agree with what you say about settings, and how they are applyed, i know there is NO such thing as a setting, only suggestions, even from lexus, unknown FACT, the advice i post only refects the current topic, and cannot be considered law, no one can generalize geometry, it is unique, but your understanding of what is wrong as far as a guide must help? yes/ no? anyway i am sincere as far as the help i offer, as far as bothered is concerned, get a geometry, get a print out, get evidence that the settings fall in line with the lexus parramiters, and base the wear from the facts. no offense meant tony your website is an excellent source :) my experience was to go to a tuning establishment, one i hasten to add had not seen a lexus in there workshop before when i said that i have the settings, i got a look of disgust and the words "we do know what we are doing" after spending over an hour doing adjustments talking me through everything they did, they gave me a complete confidence in there ability 10000 miles later, and no adverse wear i have to agree with them :) to take the settings to a place that hasnt got them available has got to be a bit risky to compare the correct or recommended settings is an excellent practice but obviously accuracy of the equipment and any readings must be given a thought who would you rather performed surgery on your body ? a GP or a surgeon ;) NO offence was taken or felt, lets move on, if i was going for surgery with my car, then i would go well armed ( sorry about the pun) my site in all 19 or so pages can only be conciderd as the headlines, you have to fill in the small print on your own with an educated implant, advice can be free, examples of the problems that you have is what keeps this site alive, the sad thing is that when it's done wrong then it's not free, this angers me, and it's for that reason i built wheels-inmotion.co.uk so some readers have a bit of a chance?
  9. fair comment, the term toe in/out seemingly has been generated from the fast fit industry, and is an attempt to discribe the wheels condition, as far as the direction of travel is concerned, by convention discription of geometry is in degrees and minutes, the genaral public in most cases will not, and to be fair needs not to understand this form of measurment, simple points toward reference have been applyed over the years, right or wrong? i dont know.

  11. yeh no prob, but, due to my system re-format total loss on the hard disc, remind me of your intensions, car, model, year??? and i will start over again with your issues, oh and tyre size.
  12. sorry think i missed the point on this one, when you say this site do you mean this forum? or the wheels-inmotion site.
  13. Only spotted mine as I was being lazy and pulled in to a parking space and left the wheel on full lock - on returning to the car I noticed the inside 1" was wearing when the rest of the tyre looked like new :o i hope you had more tested than wheel alignment? the wheel alignment is one of the least violent angles of them all, down to the wire is rearly w/ a , time after time i read on this forum, wear on the inside? this is active camber angle go to wheels-inmotion.co.uk and spread the word.
  14. IT LIVES? alls well now, site back online, email still has a problem but is being worked on now, thanks again to scorpion for your help tony
  15. I have a IS200SE which is just 2 yrs old. Your tyre wear is due to the "set up" of the front geometry. If you view your car from the front, you will see that the wheels squat out at the bottom. This allows you to corner like you are on rails, but your tyres suffer. Advise - rotate front to back every 6000 miles to "flatten off" tyres. I'm currently looking for new tyres....but I have been told that I MUST but the Japanese Dunlop SP9000 sport !....ehhhh. Hope this helps ! just the facts, the IS200 has a very small negitive front camber angle, and if visable deviation from the vertical can be seen then you do have a problem? the wear on the front tyres seems to be wheel alignment, or under inflation, the later the most probable, tyre pressure is standard at front 33 rear 33 psi, this is only the standard settings, and you need to apply adjustments, in respect to tyre wear and alignment is concerned? seems overwhelming but control of your driving style will be reflected in the wear of the tyre, conclusion, if the front wheel alignment is correct? and you regularly test the tyre pressures, if inner or outer wear is apparent? then up the pressure by one or two pounds, No more, stay within the min, max load tyre settings offerd by lexus, they are the safe settings but they cannot forsee the load and style of the driver, the cracking in the tread line may just simply be underinflation has been an issue, as the stress on the tyre will leave some form of evidence, also in the realm of saftey check the tyre date? on one side of EVERY tyre is a date of manufacture, this may read DOT1204? what this means is this, 12 is the week the tyre was made and 04 the year, all tyre manufactures only guarentee the tyre for five years as far as general use is concerned, after that then it's user beware, good, bad and for some real sad? hope i've been of help? true to say i dont think your tyre wear issue is geometry related (that's good) if your not sure, then see my site wheels-inmotion.co.uk and read for yourself? Tony Bones, NB. one more thing, the bridgestone a (Japanese) made tyre is not the one for the UK, main problem apart fron the low mileage is that they tram line real bad, Pirelli P6000 is the best replacement, not the most expensive by far, the tyre was built for the executive car, Jag, Bmw, and then some, and gives really good customer feed back, over the last two years or so. good pedigree i think?
  16. must be said, the dealer is not doing anything wrong, they must set the geometry to the mid point of the geometry range, true?, this is the standerd lexus will expect for the customer, seems fair, but it is just not possible to standardize geometry? this is were things go tit's up, each geometry is unique and has to comply to the drivers style, the differences are only apparent from the wear and the settings then are reflected, can't be done if your hands are tied??
  17. As an instructor in geometry this point did come up so I tested it, there was no difference in the readings, so my theory stands, the angle will exist regardless of the tyre wear, true there will be extra strain on the suspension but this dynamic, as is the conicle effect of camber?
  18. the sports kit will improve the handling only, the geometry will need to be re set to the standard Is300 settings.
  19. all in the Hips mate...............all in the Hips :) sorry........ your thrust angle must be ok mate judging by the new addition! i've not had any alignment probs as of yet but my mate who had a nightmare with his golf 4motion found your site of great interest once i sent him a link. thanks mate? if the site helps someone then keep reading? something that concerns me is that, since tyres on the lexus cost about two days in france each, why when you have wheel alignment done, without any print out or evidence all's well? since the tyre wear is only evident in respect to mileage, without evidence how can you go back and dispute workmanship, do you just lay back and take it?, get a geometry, get a print out, get the most out of the car, and the tyres, get rip off britain sawn back up again.....
  20. the settings will always be the same? 18" wheels are not a prob the wheel inset is,lowerd suspension means that the active camber range will allways be negative so positive adjustment is recomended, goto wheels-inmotion.co.uk and find out for your self.
  21. well where to start? wheel alignment is the last thing ever to be tested, DONT be mislead, go to the site wheel-inmotion.co.uk if that does not cover your problem email me as i built it?
  22. all in the Hips mate...............all in the Hips :) sorry........ your thrust angle must be ok mate judging by the new addition! i've not had any alignment probs as of yet but my mate who had a nightmare with his golf 4motion found your site of great interest once i sent him a link. thanks mate? if the site helps someone then keep reading?
  23. thrust axis deviation, is the fact that the rear axis is oblique in relation to the longitudinal axis of the vehicle in reletive to the direction of straight line travel, now do you get it? sorry the facts are thrust is the predicted move from the rear if the axel is not true to the cars centre line, it is a reference point for the cars geometry, in fact most geometry angles converge to the thrust angle so it is an importent reference point.
  24. what problen do you have with the camber? I can tell you the method, and no any centre will be static, internet is globle PM'd ya. :winky: still new to all this? where did the mail go? 18's no prob, the wheel inset is, the camber issue must be set to the positive maximun, then the kpi and scrub radius will be satisfied, send me the cars details now and i will show what settings you need now?
