  1. I upgraded to LexusLink+ and it seems to work mostly better and the map feature is more reliable but there is one big step backwards that I'm seeing. The battery charge on my 450h+ only seems to update maybe every few hours and so my car may be fully charged and I get the text notification from the App to say that charging is complete but when I look at the app it is still showing the charge status from hours earlier. Is anybody else having this problem?
  2. The seatbelt rattle is a really frustrating one and seems to be due to the use of cheap 'scratchy' plastics on the inside of the B pillar in the NX. In my view these may be appropriate in a Toyota but Lexus should aspire to the quality of say a BMW and banish scratchy plastics from the cabin. They just scream 'cheap'.
  3. I too noticed that the advert referred only to self charging hybrids. I think this must be an error and that they actually meant plug-in. What's the electric range of a self charging hybrid? A kilometre maybe? That wouldn't make much sense as only a vanishingly small proportion of the total miles would be electric surely.
  4. My Lexus Link doesn't seem to be able to communicate reliably with my car any longer. The remote charging screen is giving the status as of 6th July 2024 and I can't lock the car (although it does tell me that the car is unlocked) or start the A/C remotely. I mean, it never really worked to give me the car's location (that too is reporting it's location on 6th July) but I could usually lock it and turn on the heating remotely. Is anybody else having similar problems? I've deleted and re-downloaded the app (Android) and loaded the app onto my other phone but the results are the same. I've emailed my dealer - maybe they can point me in the right direction.
  5. Interesting that (as I suspected) there is an update available. There doesn't seem to be anywhere that one can check to see what the latest version of map is on the Lexus web site. I do like the way the maps look in full screen and the fact that the directions are displayed in the HUD, these, and the lack of wireless Android Auto are the reasons I don't routinely use Android Auto. I'm not convinced that whatever they elect to charge for the service after four years of a free service that it'll be worth it.
  6. Has anybody else tried to update their map on a new NX? My dealer says that they've tried to update maps on 3 NX cars in the showroom and they all give the same message as mine does "Problem with map update, Please contact your dealer". I remain on version 12-21-09(2021-06-9). My dealer says that there's nothing to do and when there's an update available I'll be able to download it but I'm unconvinced. The first time I asked them they said it was because updates come out in October and to wait until then. It's now April and 12 months on and still no map updates. This begs the question - how does one find out what the current version should be? If somebody could try this on their new NX and let me know I'd very much appreciate it.
  7. Anybody know when we can expect to see wireless Android Auto?
  8. I see that Kwik Fit are now stocking the Bridgestone Alenza 001 Run Flat tyres for the 2022 NX, which is progress; the bad news is that they're currently £303 each. I'm thinking that the Hankook Ventus Evo3 Self-Sealing tyres are looking a better bet at £206 each. The only problem with the seal-sealing tyres that I can think of is how I'd know if one had a puncture and so needed attention.
  9. One question I have around charging is what is happening when the battery is showing 100%? When I charge the car it continues to charge, albeit at a much slower rate' for around 30 minutes after it has reached an indicated 100%; the estimated EV range does not increase at all during this time. Does anybody know what's happening with this additional current?
  10. The current version of map on my 2022 NX 450h+ is 12-21-09(2021-06-9). When I select map update on the car I get the pop-up error message 'Problem with map update. Please contact your dealer'. I contacted my dealer, they said that it was probably because there are no updates and that they usually come out in October. They didn't really convince me that they knew the answer and this doesn't seem like a standard message. If for example I look for software updates the screen simply says that there are no software updates currently available. Does anybody else get the same error message as I do?
  11. Interesting question this one. Lithium Ion batteries are under the least stress when they are 50% charged. At 50% there are roughly equal ions on each side of the membrane. You'll probably notice that when you buy a new phone or battery device, they come from the factory with 50% charge. The best approach for battery longevity is to maintain the battery at or around 50% for as long as possible. If you're going on a road trip, try charging the battery to full as close to departure as you can (use scheduling). When you arrive with no EV range left and you're not planning a long journey, try charging it back to around 50%. You can't take the NX battery below about 30% anyway and so cannot run it down to 0%.
  12. My charging point was installed by British Gas about two months ago and all is working fine. Out of the blue I received an email from Electricity North West telling me that they too need to inspect the installation stating that they "need to carry out further checks to make sure that there will be no impact on your household supply or the wider distribution network". Apparently my supply is 'looped' and hence the load limiter needs to be set to <60A (which it is according to the BG installation manager. Given that over the years we have removed the 32A electric shower and the 32A immersion heater circuits this does all seem overly officious but we'll see what they conclude when they come in late May.
  13. I've had my 450h+ F-Sport for a week now and have completed about 400Km. Used in Eco mode I'm averaging 5.5Km/KWh and have completed 71Km before the engine cut in. Admittedly I've been driving gently to gauge what distance is possible but even so, I'm impressed that the EV range Lexus state has actually proved to be on the conservative side. The temperature here has been 10c - 18c. I don't think that I can help with the patience question. I did find that watching NX YouTube videos and reading this forum didn't even a little whilst I was waiting 🙂
  14. This is disappointing I agree but I guess that this type of issue was always a risk when taking such a complex and complicated machine from its first production run. We possibly need to be prepared for more teething issues. My 450h+ still makes me smile when driving; I'm not going to let this tarnish my enjoyment of it. :-)
  15. Thanks peniole - I'll give these a try tomorrow.
