  1. I've had a letter from a Lexus main dealer saying that they have some CT 200h models, new, at cost price. What would cost price be?
  2. As an ex-Lexus-owner in Swansea, I struggled to find anyone other than Lexus in Cardiff to do repairs. They do a loyalty card which gets you discount off repairs etc, and the biggest discount is on older cars. Its still expensive. I remember having my handbrake cable replaced and you would not believe the cost !!! Also, £450 for a new glove compartment because I broke the lock on it (cant just buy a new lock!). It may be worth speaking to a Toyota specialist though, as they do share some parts.
  3. I just saw those deals, and decided to come over to the forum to see if these deals are across the board or just with Drive the Deal. It seems a very good discount. You don't need to trade your Lexus in, you just need to be a Lexus owner to get the additional £750 off. You get an extra £1750 if you take out the dealer finance but there is no mention what the minimum amount of borrowing is. For instance could you borrow just £1000? I'll try and find out and post back on here. All in all there does seem to be around £7,000 off most Lexus cars. By the way, if you don't want the finance, Lexus are also doing a free upgrade from some of the other models up to the F-Sport. I don't know if you can get this on top of the Drive the DEal discount but I suspect it is possible. Does anyone know if these £7,000 off deals are available directly from the dealers? I usually use Drive the Deal as a starting point and get a better deal, so hopefully I could get an even greater discount :-) Oh, and you get 3 years free servicing as well !! Full text of the deal: "Lexus are offering a FREE three years complimentary servicing on all IS models. The discounted price includes a £750 loyalty bonus for existing loyal Lexus customers. If you do not own Lexus of any model or age then you will need to add £750 to the discounted price that we quote online. The discounted price includes a £1750 bonus which is conditional upon you taking out finance arranged by the dealer. To discuss the terms and conditions of this offer please telephone us on Tel 020 8446 0800. Subject to Status. Written quote available on request. If you do not wish to take out this finance then you will need to add £1750 to the discounted price. Prices and offers are for cars ordered after 30 September and registered by 31 December 2010."
  4. Thanks for that. I was quoted about the same, but it's 100 mile round trip to my nearest dealer and I still have to get it installed. Was hoping just to do the plastic trim myself. If I went to my local Autoglass, would they order it as well as install it ?
  5. Hi The plastic trim that goes around the small triangular window towards the rear of the car fell off on the M4 ! To me, it just looks like I need to get a new trim and clip it back onto where the old one was. However, my Lexus Dealership says that I need a whole new window which includes the trim, and by the way they can't fit it for me if I do buy it. They haven't seen the problem, they just went off my description. Is this correct, do I really need to buy a new window? I'm not convinced they're correct. Thanks
  6. Hi Has anyone come across a RX300 in a breakers yard or know of one that specialises in Lexus? Thanks
  7. Thanks all. It's a 100 mile round trip to my nearest Lexus dealer so I didn't bother trying them. Kwik-fit offered to match the price, but the local dealer had them in stock so I got those. It was a bit of a disaster though as the fitter snapped two wheel nuts on one wheel (later got sacked!!). They had to get my car in the garage to get the snapped ones out, and I'm having to use 4 nuts instead of 5 on two wheels over the weekend until they can get replacements from Lexus. At least I don't need to travel anywhere this weekend!
  8. Hi I need a set of 235/55 R18 99V (Bridgestone Potenza RE031), actually I only need 3 tyres but would consider 4 if not much more cost. The last one I bought, around 6 months ago was £110, but the cheapest I've found locally (Swansea) is £149 per tyre. Kwik-Fit are doing an offer of 25% off 4 Bridgestone tyres, however that works out at £149.50 per tyre so no incentive to go there. Has anybody seen any better deals, or if you bought recently, what did you pay? I only want the Bridgestones by the way - not alternatives. Thanks
  9. Hi Is it a simple case of changing the battery in a key fob (RX300 2005 model), or does some kind of calibration need to take place? My dealership is a fair old drive just to change a battery.... Thanks
  10. Why do you say tracking alone is not the answer? i'm interested as my four tyres have all gone on the outside shoulders (after 28K) I am about to but 4 tyres and get 4 wheel tracking done at Peak Performance in Llandow (near Cowbridge). I assumed this would be sufficient. Most grateful for any advice. I'm just going off what I've read before, mainly that the RX300 does tend to wear the outside of the tyres, and it's down to geometry rather than just the tracking. Also, in my case the wear all seems to be on one tyre rather than evenly across the others. I'd rather go to an expert and know for sure, than get the tracking done locally and find I've wasted another tyre. If I'm wrong tell me...
  11. Hi I know that this is a common problem - excessive wear on the outside of a tyre. I know that someone like Wheels in Motion can fix this, however, I live in Swansea so a trip there is a pretty long haul. It's not something that will be fixed by fixing the tracking alone. Does anyone know of somewhere nearer? I also travel to Lancashire regularly so that may be an option if there's somewhere in that area. Thanks
  12. Hi I don't understand... I've measured the blades several times and they measure 55cm and 65cm long, that's approximately 21.5" and 25.5", so why are the replacements 21 and 24 inch. Admitedly the 21" is near enough but not the 24".. Can anyone explain the difference ? Thanks
  13. Hi, I'm struggling to buy new wipers for my Lexus RX300 (05 model). I've actually measured them (front) at 55cm and 65 cm in length, but all the spares shops are trying to sell me shorter ones. On the web they're quoting 50/55 cm as well. Should I actually be measuring the blades ? Does anyone know what the correct spec is ? By the way, it's a 100 mile round trip to go to my Lexus dealer, hence the reason for going to Halfords etc.
  14. When I bought my Lexus, I used Drive The Deal as a guide then tried to beat it. It was quite easy. I emailed every single Lexus dealer in the UK with the car that I wanted and asked them to quote their best price. Of course some wouldn't play ball, but I did end up with about 5 dealers quoting very reduced prices to me. They even invited me to come back to them if the price was beaten. It took a while to get all the email addresses - you have to visit each dealer;s site, but the result was worth it. The whole process took less than a week.
  15. I ordered a RX300 SE with metallic paint: If you email all the dealers you will get a good percentage of them keen to do a deal. In particular, I found the following very keen - in no particular order: Bristol Plymouth Twickenham Oxford Carlisle Guildford You would then need to squeeze an extra hundred pounds or so out of them - see who wants the order the most.
  16. Just an update...I managed to get £2,800 off the OTR list price AND I got a good price for the part-ex. If anyone else is thinking of buying, just email ALL the dealers and see what comes back.
  17. Hi, I'd be interested to know which dealers appear to offer the best discounts. I know of the broker site "drivethedeal", but are there any more like this and do you know of any dealers that can beat their prices ? I'm happy to buy from anywhere in the UK. Thanks.
