  1. Incidentally, just forgot to mention that the CLK was a badged AMG and had the 19"AMG alloys which made the ride probably more firmer. Although I am not fully sure what bigger alloys do to the ride. The tyre width surely must have an affect on the ride also. My first own car not so long ago in 1995 was the Fiat X/19 Bertone. I loved it. Wish I still had ! It did eat up the Pirellie rubbers every 6 months. The GS is slightly more comfortable though.
  2. After decades of E-Class driving to begin with I dont think I would like to compare the GS with the E-Class anyway. The GS is defnitely more classy, refined and drives much better overall and has a better spec. The GS design is more of a Coupe with 4-door saloon features and it is a GS sports saloon. So I want to compare it with the CLK Mercs. Even though the CLK is a true coupe. For these reasons the CLK 320 offered a heavier and firmer ride some months before I got my 300. Even though the GS is heavier in weight than the CLK. It must therefore be to do with the set up. In the US bigger cars such as the Lincoln Town car move like as if on springs the suspension is so soft and light. Coupes and sports cars offer a firmer ride for safety but with the GS I thing it has both.
  3. I am interested and no expert. But when you say Jumps around what exactly do you mean. The Mercs are much heavier cars remember. 300 Mk2 is solid no matter what the tyre pressure. And also which Merc or Bmr are you making the comparison with. I have driven many Mercs but less experience of Bmrs. I think your problems must contribute to the ride. Finally the Germans will be always solid in terms of shear weight in my view which contributes to the ride. I thought the 430 was a simply a big 300. You know better.
  4. Cool ! But noticed no E-shift on the steering wheel. Must be the older version. The Sport must have the E-shift or is it only the SE.
  5. Yes I would also like lexus to have a redesign think on the spoilers. Little finely cut, more sleeker, smaller in overall size and neat not so imposing. Seems to me the UK Lip version on the 300 sports is for cosmetics only. Easy for me to say. Lets see what happens with the Mk3. I much preffered the Mk1 Spoiler on the sports. But then many say the Mk1 was a classic in itself.
  6. Just been looking at the Lexus Approved Used Cars, the latest 300 Sports are fitted with the lip type. Its only the 430Sports which has the larger one fitted. So if thats the case then may as well go for the Lip one. Plus the hidden light will look odd. But did'nt Mk2 older regs come with the larger types and not the Lip type?
  7. Hello, I am now thinking of a Spoiler. Early stages Since I have little cash to spare at present. However, the factory with the light looks like a good option. Found this US supplier. But what is the difference in price and style of the 2 they do. Not the lip one. The difference FRP ? http://www.spoilerdepot.com/Catalog.asp?A=...Temp=&idB=89719 Also any known UK suppliers. Has anyone posted any info in the workshop with pics how to fit to GS300 Mk2. Any recommendations on the Lip type one.
  8. Use this http://www.trademotion.com/partlocator/ind...l=0&catalogid=1 I have yet to order my Sunroof rubber seals. May get a relative to bring it accross.
  9. My advice if possible go US Suppliers. The £$ rate is still worth good money. Shipping will be the main cost and the planes move fast.
  10. From Tesco T-Cut is roughly £5.00 Meguiars ScratchX is £8.99 Which is superior for both body and bumpber (front mostly) ? Yes £4.00 is a good saving. Ordered touch up paint for my bonnet from Lexus £4.95 for chips. They say it works like nails/varnish/polish (Women's) How about using the touch up before ScratchX or T-cut on scratches also.
  11. Well its good to learn more about the Power mode from the topic in the main Gs300 forum. (Power setting - what does it do) I have mainly been using it on clear motorways when possible. You have to hear the revs to enjoy it. US info states 16 mpg in Power Mode some web/link I accessed. Too reluctant to sign up for the LOC Track Attack day circuit event. Watched too many F1 races. Good luck to Toyota this year.
  12. Steve, Welkomen to ze Club. These cars leave the Germans behind. I nearly bought the MK1 Sports and have driven the MK1 Aristo. So know a little. I joned the club some months ago its great ! & Saves on the dosh !
  13. Yes thats good advice rodders ! Many thanks ! Will Do. Simple solutions always work. Anyway I have found the part and supplier US based. But has anyone used them. Its a dam useful kickass site breaks down every single part nearly. http://www.trademotion.com/partlocator/ind...t=2&catalogid=2 Sorry for the big link but it takes you to the Weatherstrip. Back track for your part and year model. But has anyone used this site for parts recommendations please.
  14. Well it seems to be getting slightly worse. I fear that the inner seal could tear and look really bad worse cause a problem and leaks. So does anyone know where to order the weatherstrip only. US, UK or other. Currently I am investigating.
