  1. Did you get your starting problems fixed? Are you still chasing this with Lexus Bradford or are you just getting rid of it quick? ← Yeah got the starting problem fixed, starts every time, no hassle....The car still needs running in, but no complaints about it now... It would however be nice to see lexus create a nice powerful diesel in the Lexus IS range....try to corner the market, alot of money involved in the diesel industry..
  2. What colour are you after for your new lexus..???? Ive got one for sale Scarletti Red 2004 '53' Plate, less than 3000 miles
  3. I had a problem with starting the car in the morning too, started off every so often, then it came to a point where it wldnt start everyday, got the RAC to tow it to the Lexus dealers... They put the computer on and it turned out that the key transponder wsnt reading the keys and therfore not disabling the immoboliser, so if i was you get it into the lexus dealers...during this time it would read the keys sometime and then being tempremental a couple of hours later. but now its purfect, starts every time
  4. Hello, Im a relatively new lexus owner, i have been surfing and reading about problems and praises for the lexus IS200. And i was astonished at the Post regarding alloys and the constant corrosion of the alloys. Can you please go into more detail to how and where the alloys are more likely to corrode, its very dissapointing to here that the alloys are so open to corrosion in this day and age...!!!!...however saying that if i dnt wash the car everyday i make the effort to wash and clean the wheels as they are wat attracts the eye's of the passerby and other motorists....!!! So can anyone tell me about the new IS200 and wen its likely to come out, and point me to any articles, web pages and photos
  5. is anyone going to help sell my car then..??? the only problem is Was the key responder..... the notchyness i asked about is the norm so no problem there, getting used to that anyway, been reading some of the replies so ive started giving it abit more revs before i change gear seems to work better... 2004 53 Plate Scarletti red 2300 miles looking at the 17K mark
  6. Well Guys these are the cars ive had previously. Toyota MR2 Mitsubishi Evo Subaru Impretza Golf GT TDI Passat Highline GT TDI Audi A4 Cars I have driven: (all driven for for than a month each) BMW X5 BMW M3 Merc CLK and SLK Porshe carrera 4 Audi TT Range Rover So i wld say im in a good position to remark on the difference in drives.. The worst car has to be the Audi TT, the handling is crap, more breakdowns than a skoda previous to VW taking charge. Im not saying the lexus is totally crap, its looks is second to none, ive always thrived on its looks, but have been dissapointed with the drive and lack of power, must be the rear wheel drive... Yes the transponder has only been the problem with the car, but was very suspicious with the notchy gear change which i continously took it to the lexus dealers, who in turn told me its the norm, like many of u have told me on my one other thread. this was mainly due to not knowing wat to exspect i suppose... Never liked Fords..wld never touch them....
  7. The car is on the Road everyday....
  8. Thanks for all the response.. The car was taken to Lexus Bradford where they carried out the Diagnostic check which highlighted the fault.... Apparently dnt no the technical wording for it, but it was the Key reading device within the engine that was not functioning properly...the part was ordered and replaced....So fingers crossed will find out tmrw mrng if it starts or not.....!!! Courtesy cars..!!!!! dnt make me laugh, 2 week waiting list for them apparently, so if it breaks down again, u cnt get a courtesy car the same day/week, had RAC to rent a car out for me...!! Can anyone out there help me sell my Lexus IS200 SE 2004 '53' Plate as im not a gold member and not able to post the car on the website...... PLEASE...PLEASE....
  9. Well i got the RAC to tow the :tsktsk: thing to my local lexus dealer...they put it on the computer and a fault with the key reading device was located, so the part has been ordered and the work being carried out today.......service has been good BUT why on earth has something like that gone rong with it in the space of 9 months... I must admit its the worst car ive driven....!!!!....will never buy a lexus ever again, anyone wnt to buy mine..??? Can anyone help me sell it as im not a gold member and cannot place adds on the website
  10. Hello anybody out there that can help me.... I have noticed recently with my IS200 SE 2004 '53' Plate with less than 2500 miles on the clock that the :tsktsk: thing wont start..... It takes numerous attempts to start it in the mornings....This mrng it wldnt start at all, just left it for an hour or so then tried it again, on the 3rd attempt this time it started... Can anyone shed some light on this problem....the more i think about it the more i think lexus hav sold be a dud car....!!!
  11. Is it right to say that if i wanted Lexus to change the gearbox oil after they said it may help that i hav to pay for it
  12. Anyone willing to change my gearbox oil for me....wanting to use the Redline oil 75W90 see if it does really help this nothchyness
  13. Where can i get hold of this Red Line MT-90 from for my gearbox...??? Any places in the UK, West Yorkshire..??? Is it ready available at the Lexus/Toyota garages ?????
  14. How hard is it to change gearbox oil....???? is alot of work involved, is it best for lexus to change the oil for me and me be charged at a ridiculous rate, please advise....!!!
  15. Well ive just been told that a gearbox oil change wld help the notchy noise im getting, but for them to change it, it wld COST ME....anyone out there that has been charged to change gearbox oil after complaining about ths gearbox noise, just for the sake of trial and error
  16. Thats wat they tell me too, but it seems as though this characteristics hav come back to haunt them........ Mines a 53 plate and does hav all this notchy/cluncking noise, unless they took my original gearbox out for another customer and put his in mine seeing as though it takes weeks for them to get one in....u'll be surprised how cunning the main dealers can be.....ive walked in on many a dealer having mibile paint jobs done at the back of the four court......and i dnt just mean stone chips....!!!!
  17. Well just to let you know i also get the clunk and notchyness, same old story its the NOrm. Hard to believe though since ive had a courtesy car for a couple of days that dsnt have this notchy/clunking noise, and apparently its the same gearbox that is in mine.....SO lexus wat is the real story behind the gearbox...???...coz it cnt be a characteristic if some cars dnt do it....!!!!!!!!...hhhmmmmm...some conspiracy here if u ask me...a luxury car manufacturer would have surely done all the experiments and research in order to make the IS200 competative to real in possible owners from there competiters.... All i can say the lexus has a long way to go before it gets into the BMW & mercedez league, i even believe the New honda Accord is much better...
  18. All i can say is that lexus got one thing rite with the car and that was its looks and exterior design, but unfortunately i think the lack of power and the gearbox lets it down dramatically...Luv to have its looks but with a BMW engine in it....!!!....Ive only had the car a couple of months and im sick and tired of its crap gearbox and the amount of leg work and talking u hav to do to get it even looked at without them saying its the :tsktsk: Norm...... I miss the volkswagen customer care, if i ever had a prob no matter how busy they were seeing as though it was a new car they wld look at it there and then and if need be keep it in and organise transport for me(courtesy car or even a hired car all paid for, not a penny out of my pocket).... Lets hope the anticipated new entry of the new IS200 lives upto wat its supposed to, so you gearbox designers pull ur :tsktsk: fingers out or ur :tsktsk: and combine its great looks with an awesome gearbox..... Im going to the BMW garage tonite see wat deals i can strike if i get back in time......Im gonna try selling my car privately, tried it on this site but it was edited out. can someone help me here as im not a gold member, wld like it to go to a good home
  19. Well thats my though too, think i'm gonna end up selling the car
  20. Well calling all you IS200 guys out there, have recently complained about the cluncky gearbox especially 1st - 2nd, and the amount of noise it creates....have been airing my views and complaints to Lexus Bradford & Lexus Nottingham, have had 2 different road test with the guys at Bradford, who say this is the norm etc, even though they admit the noise is higher than usual etc, but wen it comes to submitting the product report it isnt mentioned....All that is said is its the norm...!!!! Usual crap we all seem to get....!!!! However Nottingham yesterday took my car in and left me a new 54 plate IS200SE which had higher mileage on than my 53 plate, and surprise surprise the gear change was much smoother than mine, it wsnt as sluggish as mine, it wsnt as noisy as mine.........SO come on you lexus dealers get ur fingers out of ur :tsktsk: 's coz if thats the norm with the gearboxes then why isnt this new car making the same load noise and as clunky as mine..... Still got the courtesy car, phnd Lexus Nottingham to comment on how smooth the gear change was compared to mine etc, and i was told that they think it may have a re-designed gearbox in it...!!!!... Rang Lexus customer care up and asked them to confirm this, they got back to me today saying that is not true.....So lexus wat is the crack with the ****ty gearboxes and lexus nottingham ur excuse went out of the window...... Im hanging in there trying to get my gearbox changed.........oh yes and before i forget Bradford informed me that the re-designed gearbox was for a different fault which occured wen driving at 70MPH or above, something to do with a whoosy noise...can anyone comment on this, or have had similar problems and excuses.... i await some feedback
  21. Well fmrl the gearbox does vibrate very slightly but as u have said dnt think its too much to write home about...But im very dissapointed with the clunck of the gearbox etc, wldnt exspect this from lexus at all who pride themselves with all the awards they have won with this car.... Aido (jack) im dealing with Faye in service, have also spoken to Jazz Singh (service manager)..they seem more customer orientated than the Bradford Branch...To say that they have this re-designedcasings and internals why dnt they just replace them....I miss my GOLF GT TDI, wish i never part exchanged it in now. Im also in communication with the Jamie spencer (sales) who sold me the car...putting pressure on everyone there involved to get this gearbox replaced.....Next step to contact Lexus HQ as recommended by fluff34567, and hopefully speak to Racheal Sax to see if i can get it changed..... Any other advice out there for me regarding my gearbox...!!!
  22. Well ive been told that they can be nippy, but as i hav said it is sluggish at the moment..... I have been in other IS200's that seem to be faster than mine...!!!!..i suppose that may come once the engine has been broken in....!!! The fuel economy is also crap....!!!!.. I miss my GT TDI Golf for fuel economy and power....!!!!!.....i think Lexus should make a powerful Diesel too.......!!!!! Any others suffering from lack of power...??? its like pulling a tank up a hill....!!!
  23. I cnt say ive really noticed a vibration of the gearstick whilst driving or in neutral, will defo look at it tonite and let u know tmrw.... However it cnt be a feature of the car because others have had this problem solved, and some of my mates hav the same car and they hvnt got this problem......!!!! I think i'd better try the leeds branch if nothing is done by bradford and this Lexus Test driver that im waiting for......If nothing is done i'll be taking it back to Nottingham where i bought it from and talking to the sales person who sold me it and to Jazz Singh the service manager there and demand that this new re-designed parts are put in.... Im not happy with the car at all.... never buy one again... already thinking of part exchanging it in for a merc
  24. Hi guys, I have also noticed that my IS200 is very slugish, its only got 500 miles on the clock. is this the Norm at this stage until the engine breaks in or am i missing something..... Any advice out there for me..??? do you think re-setting the ECU will help as i have read above..???
  25. Hi all, Ive recently taken my IS200 to the lexus dealership in Bradford, where i had one of the technicians test drive it with me, he must hav been 20 year old, to me he wsnt very knowledgeable, i sat there and pointed out every clunck and noise to him, and all he said was cnt hear anything OR thats Normal.....I cldnt believe it....His answer was just drive it another couple 1000 miles to see if it persists... I said no chance, told him to stop the car and open the door and listen to himself putting the car into reverse than 1st and 2nd with his head hanging out....then he said oh yes it is noisy than usual and that it does cluck alot.... I just gasped and said finally.....h esaid he wld put it into the product report and await for a Lexus Representative to come and test drive and authorise any replacement part.....Never hears so much crap in my life... So what is the point of the mechanics being there..... Why not hav a garage full of these Lexus test drive authorisers there instead....Never had all this crap regarding problems with my Golf during its Warranty period, it was straight in and out with wat needed to be done.... Was finally told that it was the gearbox that probably need replacing with the new re-designed casings etc..... I was so futious with the whole situation that i rang Nottingham Lexus up and told them what i thought with it seeing the car has only 500 miles on it now and why a new gearbox is already needed.....They gave me the same old story about all IS200 being like that, i just laughed and said well i hav many friends with the same car that dnt hav this problem and asked them to explain that...!!!! Nottingham Service then rang Bradford service (lexus) to find out wat was exactly diagnosed, and the tecknician that test drove the car said nothing un-towards....I again started to fume.....2 conflicting assuptions..... Please someone out there please tell me where i can find a professional Lexus mechanics and not these young apprentices. Where are the good old guys that have years and years of experience...... If nothing is done im just gonna tell them to take the car back out of principle, and i dnt want it...!!!!!! For a car at the top of its class, what aload of crap..... wouldnt buy another one if it was the last remaining car on the earth..... May change my mind if the problems are solved.....
